So, how was your weekend?
written by Sue, Sunday, January 16,2011
Saturday...was very productive around here, I had planned to do light housework, Mr. P. was going to do some  cleanup from the ice storm, and then we were going to the mall. Well! we both got so engrossed in our work that  we decided since we were on a roll to keep going. Have you ever done this? So here is the scoop,...
I went into the kitchen to kind of straighten a little and wait until this next week to do major cleaning. But when I looked out those windows, and saw all those spots, I said" no way was I going to leave it, I got those windows sparkling , and then I started cleaning and organizing my cabinets, scrubbed half of the counter tops, cooked dinner and the rest is history. I walked out of my half cleaned kitchen knowing I had gotten  something accomplished.lol I walked 2.5 miles.
we had lunch with mother, and spent some wonderful time with her. I did some blogging and started doing some rearranging on this blog. The weather was beautiful today sunny and in the 40's, so I went for a walk 2.5 miles today. Mr P. had a fire going from some of the rotted wood he had been piling up.

It was dusk, and all was silent, we talked for a while about the upcoming week. How wonderful to be able to enjoy one of God's many blessing....Time well spent with your best friend!
Yes these are the feet that walked today. lol
And then the silence of the evening was broken by baaa! baaa!.I kept hearing baa!baa! from this  one ewe, she just wouldn't stop, I am thinking,"she has been fed and watered there must be something wrong. Dh said  that he would check on her, I went with him, by this time it was almost dark..

We went  to the barn and then they all started baaing, but we couldn't find anything wrong. dh walked around in the pen, talking to them, and when we left, they were looking through the gate at us and  had stopped whining, all they needed was reassuring that everything was alright. To know that their shepherd was near by.

I thought" isn't that the way we are, we start whining and complaining, and feel anxious about things in life,  God comes and comforts us , by His word,... a word of encouragement from someone, and once again we are reassured that all is well, and we settle down and rest.

Philippians 4:6-7~ Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving. let your requests be made known to God.
This is exactly what the ewe was doing, she was making her requests known to her shepherd, though she was anxious, but would not stop until she had heard her shepherd's voice and him assuring her it was alright. I would love to have taken a picture of their faces as we left the pen, just so sweet.

Congrats on getting so much done! good for you! I have not got to do as much house work as I had hoped, because I am practicing my little fingers to the bone on special music for our pastor's anniversary service... what fun it is, though!

Oh my! I just loved the "sheep story" how sweet, and as you said, what a perfect illustration of us with the Great Shepherd....
He is called the Comforter in His Word, and that is exactly what and Who He is.... just speaking His Dear Name is reassuring...

thanks for the lovely post today! I really enjoyed it!

Sue that was just beautiful! How wonderful of the Lord to demonstrate His care through your fretting sheep. We don't easily forget lessons learned in such surprising ways :-)

I think that is why I loved raising sheep because they were always a illustration of how I was with Jesus too. You are doing so good on your walks and getting your kitchen cleaned too. I really like the new stuff you added to your blog, it looks good. I also loved the fire. You are so blessed to still live in a free place you can burn a fire when you want. We have to have permits and then it has to be a burn day.
We couldn't burn a fire all weekend in the wood stove because it is no burn days.

You always bless me and I am so glad your vertigo is gone. I get that sometimes and nothing is worse as not being able to walk or stand. Not to mention the nausea.
I hope you have a lovely week.
Blessings to you my friend.

Well I needed my Shepherd today...so thanks for sharing through your Ewes...So glad you got to walk, I know how much that energizes us all when we get to exercise. I loved the picture of the fire...now I want to go camping.
Thanks again for the reminder of where I need to go when I need to lay down my burdens and have reassurance.

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

The phrase "There's no place like home", is so true.

No matter where I go, I always love turning the key and hearing that clicking sound in the lock of our back door . Even if I have only gone shopping, I am so happy to be home.

Did you know that every home has its own scent, the first thing I do is sniff the air, and I offer a quiet prayer of thankfulness, and for safety.

My decorating style is my own, I decorate with the colors and treasures that are me. One of the things that I have enjoyed about blogging is the difference in how we all view the world, and our homes. Just like our Creator made each of us to be unique, we create our own unique styles and colors in our own homes. I have learned so much from you and enjoyed your homes so much, and have learned so much about you from your homes...

I truly believe that God wants us to have a safe haven to come home too, a place we can claim as our own,... just like us, homes come in all shapes and sizes if love is there it is our home.., if our things are there it is our home. When we add our own personal touches, it is our home

Home is a place we can go to when the storms of life are raging. I often listen to the wind and rain when it is coming down hard and am reminded of the safety of our sheltering home. It is the one place that we control what and who comes in, (well, most of the time. lol)

Sometimes late at night, when I am unable to sleep I will get up and as I am walking across the room, I hear the floor creek beneath my feet, I go, sit, and listen to other sounds that my home makes, a pop here and there in the wall, it is like the wall is talking to me. A home not only has its own scent, but it also has its own sound. I truly believe that a home takes on its own personality, US!!

So why this blog?....
I wanted a place that I could come, talk about, and share of how my day was spent here at the "farmhouse", and about the things that I do to make it a "home". Making a house a home is a lifetime endever, and I might add a joy, as our lives are always changing.
