Pear tree lane Farmhouse

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

Spring is coming....
Witten by Sue, February 21, 2011~
I started my spring cleaning today, and I must say that it was hard to stay inside, and I found every excuse to go out, play and enjoy the beautiful sunshine and warm temps. .......

I wandered into the herb garden and look what I found, fresh parsley coming through the soil after a long hard winter, I scolded my self because I had just bought some at the grocers a few day prior. lol I jumped two feet. I also tasted it, Oh! so good!!You have to understand a herb gardener and her love of herbs. I absolutely do not know how 5 parsley plants survived this winter.
I see someone else has been visiting the herb garden.... The rabbits come, enjoy, and show their thankfulness for their free food, by fertilizing my garden. I think that is a fair trade off, they get to eat, and I get my garden fertilized. lol
I went inside to try my new hand scrub..... and Me thinks I like it...

I have always wanted to make my own hand and body scrubs, I found some recipes on the internet, and modified them to my taste.... I decided to use sunflower oil instead of olive oil, I found the olive oil to be to strong.
Lemon sugar scrub...
2  1/2 cups of sugar~
1 cup Sunflower oil~
5-6 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, or to how you like it~
Mix all ingredients well,

place in a 12 oz. jar that seals tightly.
Voilla!!

This makes a great gift, just tie on a pretty ribbon!!!  But for now I think I am going to be the tester. LOL I did try it and it exfoliates beautifully and made my hands feel so soft, something I need when coming in from working in the garden, and just everyday work. Did I mention how great it smelled?
Enjoy your evening.
Sue

Since I still have an abundance of lemons I am going to try that. I never thought about sunflower oil. So glad you posted the recipe. My hands are such a mess today. I know that if I sit down to sew tonight my thread will get caught on my hands they are so rough. I started my spring cleaning too. I will tackle my computer room tomorrow. I am tired but if feels so nice when it is finished. My house smells so much better too.
So glad you are feeling better.
How is the lamb?
Blessings to you my dear friend.

I found this post to be a coincidence today as I also noticed a new patch of parsley popping up and it was very exciting to see it. I didn't see any presents from the bunny, however. LOL.
Your hand scrub looks so pretty and I can imagine it smells wonderful. I remember buying something similar once and it was rather expensive. I think I am going to try this. Thanks so much for sharing the recipe.

Girl, that scrub looks so pretty and sunshine -y in the jar....

How neat that you made it yourself! I can just imagine how wonderful and lemon-y it smells.

Wonder it it would work good on the feet? My heels could use some work..... a good scrub like that and then some moisturizing lotion and sleep in socks. Sandal weather and flip flop weather is not too far away... Yay!
Hugs, Jenni

(You might laugh to know that John was once called "Johnny Rabbit" and was in the business of selling rabbit poo. He was all of four years old, but he remembers it fondly.) And to think that you get yours in trade! :D

Your exfoliating scrub sounds very nice. I have several tubs of purchased stuff around and sometimes it's just what my old bod needs.

It's got to be great fun getting out in the garden. Do you allow yourself garden time when you've done so much in the house?

Oh I enjoyed the sun this weekend and my parsley also...now to plant more in my herb garden.
Oh I love the scrub...I need to do that...you always inspire me, although I am usually not as successful as you, I still try.
Have a great week in your precious corner of the world.

Oh, I can smell the scrub already!
I think I'll have to try that and it would make wonderful gifts. Thanks Sue, for the lovely idea.
Hope you are feeling well these days.
I've done a little Spring cleaning but need to do so much more.
The parsley looks so good, but I am surprised it made it through this harsh snowy season.
It has been so sunny and warm, it is hard to stay indoors, isn't it?
Enjoy your week and be well!
Hugs!

Hi Sue!

How wonderful that you are having warm temperatures! I know that Spring is going to "Spring" in my neck of the woods . . . one of these days....:0) I love to see new growth in my garden, and fresh parsley is one of those wonderful tonic herbs that seems to poke it's head through first. I'm looking forward to anything green!

Thank you for posting your sugar scrub recipe - I love homemade recipes like that!

Hugs,
Barb

Hi Sue!
You're gardening and we have a winter storm warning for snow...but truth be told, we've had a mild winter so far while so much of the country had snow...guess it's our turn! I hope you try the crockpot apple butter and let me know how you like it!
Blessings,
Elizabeth

Love the sounds of that hand scrub, you can probably use it on your toosies I bet!! what a great idea
and it would make a nice gift.
I got some for Christmas from a bath and body store, so why not homemade, it's probably better anyway and probably doesn't have anything wierd in it.
I am still trying to figure out how to follow you, so your blog comes up on my dashboard. Am so glad you didn't quit blogging!!
YOu have a super day hon,

I did see acouple things poking up in my herb garden. I need to dig up what survived and re-do the whole thing this year because last summer I wasn't able to care for it like I should. But I will get it going again.

Your lemon scrub sounds fantastic!
