"At home"

~ Where the fireplace glows~
The phrase "There's no place like home", is so true.

No matter where I go, I always love turning the key and hearing that clicking sound in the lock of our back door . Even if I have only gone shopping, I am so happy to be home.

Did you know that every home has its own scent, the first thing I do is sniff the air, Oh! yes I do, and I offer a quiet prayer of thankfulness, and for our safety. Do you know the scent of your home?

My decorating style is me, I decorate with the colors and treasures that are me. (I heard that, be nice) One of the things that I have enjoyed about blogging is the difference in how we all view the world, and our homes. Just like our Creator made each of us to be unique, we create our own unique styles and colors in our own homes. I have learned so much from you and enjoyed your homes so much, and have learned so much about you from your homes...

If  I have any advice for anyone it is.."know and be yourself" you are unique and your home is you.

I am showing our laundry room since it is the first room we enter in after turning the key in the back door. This is me!

truly believe that God wants us to have a safe haven to come home too, a place we can claim as our own,... just like us, homes come in all shapes and sizes if our family is there it is home, if love is there, it is home, if our things are there, it is home. When we add our own personal touches, it is home.

This is the laundry room view looking toward the sink, and pantry( I showed this recently,). I have to be very careful as there is a tendency to make this a drop off place. If you look to the right on the sink there is a pot with homemade detergent, I will give the recipe soon.

Home is a place we can go to when the storms of life are raging. as I listen to the wind, and the rain as it is coming down hard, I am reminded of the safety of our sheltering home. It is the one place that we control what and who comes in, (well, most of the time. lol)

**As I have watched the devastation in Japan over the last weeks, and while praying for them I have  thought about  their lives being changed in a moment, my heart has hurt for them, and believe that these women have not lost that "At Home" feeling.  That they are already planning in their hearts of how they will once again put their homes, and lives  back together. I believe that through all hardships and tragedies that God can be glorified and things can be better. Remembering them always in my prayers!

Sometimes late at night, when I am unable to sleep I will get up and as I am walking across the room, I hear the floor creek beneath my feet, I go, sit, and listen to other sounds that my home makes, there in the silence, I hear a pop here and there in the wall.... A home not only has its own scent, but it also has its own sound. I truly believe that a home takes on its own personality, US!!

So... why this blog?....
wanted a place that I could come, talk about, and share of how my days are  spent here at the "farmhouse" and about the things that I do to make it a "home". Making a house a home is a lifetime endeavor, and  I might add a joy, as our lives are always changing.

Why, just  recently while cleaning , I noticed some a lot of flaws, dents, and untold finger prints, as well as permanent crayon marks, some most would not come off.... But that is okay, as I am reminded of all of those wonderful memories, Ahhh!!, that character has been added to our home,.. just like the bumps and knocks we have had in our life has added character to us too.

wanted a place to share about the animals that grace our farm and how they enrich our life, and how and what we do to make a living. A working farm is a lot of work, but oh so rewarding.

I wanted a place to share of my faith, and of how my faith in a One True Living God sustains my life.

No one has a perfect life, no one, as long as we live, we are going to have situations in our life that are  hard to deal with.  But you might be saying " But Sue, you just don't know what I am and have been going through." Oh! yes I do,  it is through the trials of life that Mr. P and I have grown the most, and know more than ever that "His Grace is Sufficient".

My family has been asking me to do a daily journal, as most of them live so far away, I was starting  another blog, but decided to talk with Mr P about it, he reminded me, (gently) that our busy farm season was around the corner, and that I might not have the time to write on two blogs., so I deleted it. I seriously don't know about daily, but my plans are to try, but not right now. I have fence posts to paint, any volunteers? lol I promise that my posts will not be this long, (me thinks) lol .

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit, and I hope you find an "AT HOME" feeling while here.

Until next time,
Sue
II Corinthians 12:9~But He said to me My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness,Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ power may rest on me....

Please forgive me for the long post..and because of that I have turned the comments off today.

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.
