~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

Just who do you think you are??

A very interesting walk today.. This Cattle Egret, info. site here was busy forging for dinner. They follow cows, horses and other animals eating insects that the animals stir up while walking...Hmmm very interesting. I kinda think this is  a female,
The Egret thought I was harassing  so ...
It decided to go visit the horses, I followed, she thought I was harassing her again so..
she flew to the fence post and decided to let me photograph her, and decided to stand on one leg. , and when she thought I shoud be finished, she saw..
Mr P. on a tractor discing and she just knew there would be more delicasies so she
Went to visit Mr. farmer,...  said photographer followed her, Miss Egret flew, I walked..... I was told by Mr P. that she indeed had found a lot of insects.
she says "enough is enough", and flew back to the cow pasture., she didn't have to worry, I had had enough too.
Said photographer went back to painting, we have a deal Mr P. sands, I paint. all sixteen sections, gate, and fence posts, two coats.lol Why or how do I get myself in these situations, I will never know.
And so the story continues.
until next time,
Sue

That is a good way to paint a fence! And what a sweet thing to have that beautiful bird along, :D

I had no idea Egrets follow around other animals like that until now! Thanks:) Great photos capturing that!

You got some nice shots of it Sue :-)
I wonder if you could spraypaint your fencing?
I know one thing - I'd rather paint than sand any day lol!
bless you..Trish

Lots of bird stories in Blogdom now. This one is cute with you in hot pursuit of one little egret. Sounds as if she does a lovely job on the farm. Have you read Sharon Lovejoy's latest entry about the hummingbirds? You two remind me of each other, you bird pests you!

That fence is going to look great. I'm glad that you have some nice shade to work in and that you don't have to paint it while it's still up. That looks much easier...still hard...but easier.

A great Thursday to you...

I so enjoy reading about your days on the farm. Interesting information about the egret. I see them here by the lake, but had no idea they followed the animals like that.
Your fence will look so nice when you are all finished, but it sounds like a big job. It looks like you found a nice way to get the painting done with less back strain.

Well at least you aren't painting the porch, right? When I lived at home we would have great big flocks of cattle egrets that followed our cows too. They are a funny lot as they really don't want to be around people. The cows didn't even seem to mind when they would get on the cows backs.
I think they are really nice pictures.
I enjoyed taking a walk with you today.
Sorry I had to leave before you started painting though. :)

Thanks for sharing, this city girl had so much fun reading and enjoying your pictures.

We call those "cow birds" in Texas, but I think "Cattle Egret" sounds a lot better and more dignified... one thing for sure, that is a smart bird! And how funny that it got agravated at you for being the "bird paparazzi" and taking pictures!

I, too love the new header photos... but, y'all do have the most inviting, beautiful porch, as well!

Have an awesome day,
Jenni

Hi, Precious!

I love the egret and the story! I had a white heron land in the yard the other day, and before I knew it, the thing had eaten my lizzard! I wanted to go rescue it, but I thought better of it and let the heron enjoy its lunch. I mean, it is the food chain and all. But I felt terrible for that poor, poor lizzard. Gave me nightmares! Well, the pictures did at any rate, because I had to photograph the bird. I didn't realize it until I zoomed what the bird was doing! ;-)

I think painting is the better end of that job, girl!

And that's a cute picture of Mr. P on his John Deere!

Love you...

XO,

Sheila :-)

Egret...hummmm, never heard of type of bird.
You must of gotten your exercise in for the day, chasing after her.

Do share, when you are finished with the fence.

Dear sweet Sue, I just loved your post on home. I too love the scent of my home and is so comforting when I come home. I also love your pictures following the bird. So cute! Take care and special blessings to you today!

I was just driving along my country commute and noticed a field of cows with their little egret friends bopping along behind them.

(Around here, they just call them "cow birds". We're kind of hick like that.)

I almost stopped the car and snapped a picture because the sight was so whimsical to me.

And then, I came HERE and got a whole adventure without even stopping the car. I love blogland!

By the way, I just read the Tuesday post that I had missed.

I know you shut off comments, but I wanted to tell you that if there was ONE word that I would use to describe this blog and the feeling that I get when visiting here, it would be HOME.

Seriously and sincerely.
Just wanted you to know.

Sue,
You really captured the adventures of that Egret even though HE clearly didn't want to be bothered. LOL! I think you and Mr. Farmer have a good thing worked out here...he sands and you paint. I hate sanding, so I think you got the better deal! :)

If I've ever known about cattle egrets, I'd forgotten. (Growing up across the highway from a dairy farm, I probably was aware of them at some point.)
that's funny that you followed her all over the place!
Good luck with your painting!

You and Mr. P have such a precious marriage and work together so well.

The egret might like your husbands job just a little more than the photographers :)

Very interesting bird--not familiar with that species and their interesting habits!

So thankful you and yours escaped injury and damage.

Blessed Easter week to you, Sue.
