~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

Just Rambling

Written by Sue, Tuesday, June 14, 2011                                                          Simply beautiful today, temps. 80's.
I usually wake up to the sound of these two guys telling us it is time to get up and that it is time  to come and feed them.

 but this morning there was this beautiful bird serenading me. I just lay there listening, and thinking of the goodness of God...... I  have found that birds sing no matter what circumstances, .. a great lesson for me.{smile}
We have finally gotten a break in the heat wave, just a perfect day so, today my best Bo and I went berry picking. He ate more than what he picked and out of my basket too. He thinks I didn't see him, but I did.... I used to have red pigtails, dh says my red hair was one reason he fell for me{ha ha}And Girls he still wears his cap to the side.Ahh! be still my heart.

Our cucumbers are ready and we had a good picking today, so making relish was on my to do list too. I really wanted to be outside in the garden, because with cooler weather I could have stayed out most of the day but when veggies get ready  they won't wait for you. ......  Every thing went well, I had twelve pints, wish I had a photo , but my camera is in the shop, we took it in to be repaired yesterday, and was told that it might be June 30th before it will be ready. boo! hoo!

However, I went out to the garden and told the cukes, and squash since they have been working so hard to take tomorrow off, ,.......as I was walking away I heard  snickering and laughing, {as if they are going to listen to me}

And speaking of yesterday, Mr P.and I did something we very seldom do, and that was to play hookie from the farm. You should have seen the look  the farm animals gave us as we left.{lol} No telling what mischief they got into that we haven't found out about yet.

While out, I went to one of my favorite shops, Hobby Lobby, and boy did I get a surprise there.. First thing first, they had 66% off of selected items and I was like a child in a candy store.I walked and walked up and down those aisles, until I saw a clerk eyeing me, I think she thought I was up to no good, what she didn't know was when you let someone out of the gate,  they usually don't know where to go or how to act. {LOL} Any how I got a few items and they were great finds. I will show you when my camera comes back. {I do miss my camera} So bear with me.

The next surprise was,...... Now Girls,  you are not going to believe this...they were putting out fall and Christmas decorations. That's right, would you believe it is June and they are already out. I was not unhappy at all, Fall is my favorite season, and Christmas is my favorite holiday, so you can imagine how this country gal was feeling. I think the word would be ECSTATIC!! I know! I know! you are thinking "what is wrong with that girl". Please don't  chide me, I didn't buy any holiday decorations, but I did do some browsing, and enjoyed it too! Who knows when I will get back? {big smile} I didn't realize that Hobby Lobby put their fall and Christmas out so early, did you? I must get to the city more often.{smile}....

Tomorrow I plan to be out in the flower garden and pick these. This photo was taken about a week ago, so you can imagine how luscious they are by now,I have been sneaking out there in the evenings and testing them {yummy smile}
Well, I guess this is all for tonight, sleep tight, with gentle thoughts.
Hugs,
Sue

I love your just rambling post, too bad about your camera, I would be lost too. I love your blueberries, they are just beautiful. It is hot here now but I am so happy. It feels so nice and summery. It will be gone by Friday so I am loving this much.
I am so glad you got to play hooky and get away.
Sometimes you just have to do that.
Well, I was just getting ready to go to bed so I thought I would stop in for a just a minute.

Isn't it fun to take a day off then to find such wonderful deals and a great store!
Can't wait to see what you bought!
It makes me chuckle to read about the animals.

I love those old-fashioned photos! Do you find those online (or is it a secret)? ;)
That first one is precious.

I agree: good for you playing hookey - sometimes we just have to do that, and it's good for us!

Those who must obey the garden are always very busy. I laughed when you told the cukes to lay off for a bit.

I shall certainly not chide you about Christmas in June for I fell asleep last night listening to Christmas carols.

Lovely images to complement your post...

Thank you!

Good morning! I enjoyed traveling that day with you. Your blueberries look wonderful. There is no hobby lobby by us but Mel has one and it has quickly turned into her favorite spot. I went with her last time I was there, and I too was sold. What a perfect place. I can get on board for Fall decs, but I might have to draw the line at Christmas, haha...not quite there yet. Have a wonderful day Sue! HUGS

All of the stores seem to rush into the next holiday so quickly anymore, we don't have a Hobby lobby anywhere close but it sounds like you had a great time in there;) The blueberries look wonderful, I just covered ours with netting a couple days ago:) Have a wonderful day Sue!

Sue, I always love reading your narratives about your days at Peartree Lane Farmhouse!

We are also enjoying some relief from the opressive temperatures...a very welcome relief indeed!

Your comment about what the animals did while you were away caused me to think of the children's book Click, Clack, Moo: Cows that Type by Doreen Cronin. It's an adorable tale of some mischief that Farmer Brown's animals get into, behind the scenes of course. I don't think you have to be a child to enjoy reading of their antics. Maybe you can sneak over to the children's department of your local library...and you and Mr. P can share a few laughs. :-D

I enjoyed this post so much. It seems that the reprieve from heat affected the bird with the golden song too...

How exciting to be able to talk to the vegies... I've never heard of such a thing. From now on I'll refer to you as my friend the vegie whisperer~

And of course I must say something about you taking a day off with your husband. I'm thinking he caught sight of your blog post and couldn't resist the girl with the red pigtails. Did he turn his hat backwards? Just wondering!

Blessings, Debbie

Hobby Lobby just opened up a store near us a few months ago. I too love walking around and seeing all the stuff that I would love to have but don't need. : )
Christmas!! Way too early for me to even THINK about it.
Hope your camera gets fixed soon. I know I'd be lost without mine too.
Enjoy your day.

Susan, What fun you've been having :) You should get out more often!

I sure enjoyed the way you illustrated this post & laughed at your enthusiasm for Hobby Lobby. I don't get out much either and was amazed to hear that Thanksgiving and Christmas merchandise is already out.

You always work so hard! Glad you were able to take some time off and go browsing at the store. All your canned good from the previous couple of posts look so yummy! Your pantry must look gorgeous with all those colors. I wish I lived near enough to come and pick blueberries with you. LOVE those! Thank you for posting about my giveaway in your sidebar.

I know exactly how it feels to have the camera on the fritz. It's so frustrating to see something marvelous or maybe just noteworthy, and not be able to click.

I can imagine that you and your sweetie looked just like that picture (at least in your mind's eye) when you went berry picking.

The fall and Christmas stuff is out here, too, but it just gives me anxiety. (seriously). I don't know why, but seeing Christmas stuff this early does that to me.

I just love going to craft stores too, even if I don't buy anything I just have fun looking and dreaming. I know they put holiday stuff our earlier and earlier! Your blueberries look so yummy. I am in the middle of my strawberry harvest and I am getting quite a few. So, I will be making jam:) Have a blessed day dear sister! Elena

Sue,
I am so sorry about your camera...it is very frustrating and I hope it comes back to you very soon. Talking to your veggies sounds like a lot of fun to me even it they don't listen! :) I'm thinking the Jersey blues will be ripening very quickly now and I'd better not forget to go to the farm and get some.
