~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

~Mothering~

Written by Sue, Thursday August 25, 2011              sunny 80's and so beautiful
What is a simple pleasure? To me it is something or someone that just moves my heart to pause! and take a deep breath!! Like you I do this so many times each day, sometimes not even realizing it until it has passed...

While cleaning the screened porch after a storm this week, I heard these chirping sounds nearby,I paused! and enjoyed this simple pleasure, naturally I go get my camera, and I start snapping. I find it so amazing of how I want to share so much with you all!! ~smiling all the way to the computer~. I guess ya'll are stuck with this very simple farmwife....

Just as we teach and train our young so does this mother.

She watches me with a cautious eye, ready to defend her young.
Why, is this a simple pleasure? For me it is just that "SIMPLE" not to mention SWEET". I love to observe how the mother's in the animal world look after and care for their young.

The dust has begun to settle here on the farm, dh and I are kinda taking a break, I am spending some down time on the porch, enjoying simple pleasures such as this one and trying to catchup on visiting my friends here in blogland.

Thank you so much for stopping by and for leaving me such beautiful comments, on my last post, I know it was very loooong, but I "pinkie promise" not to do that to you again any time soon, that is unless those darlins of ours come back for a visit. ~hee hee~
Until next time,
may the God of peace continue to fill your days with many Simple Pleasures

Hi Sue,
I just read your previous post and left a comment. So nice that you are now able to slow down a bit and enjoy these simple pleasures. Such cute photos you captured of mommy and her babies.
"Stuck with a simple farmwife" - never!! I love my visits here. I've always thought farm life looked very appealing, so I guess I am living vicariously through your posts. LOL.

Hello Sue! I am in New Mexico right now with Mel so I am a little behind in my reading. My what a wonderful wonderful summer you have had. I just LOVE all of your pictures of your times with your family. It is hard to say which one I like more. Sooo good. I can't tell you for some reason what it does to my heart and spirit to read about your times. It just gives me such a peaceful feeling for some reason. : ) How blessed your children and grandchildren are....And how I understand your heart. I long to have ALL of my children near me, and yet I want them to be where God wants them, and where they are happy. Soo glad you get those special times with yours. Love today's post too btw, I too am enjoying watching the animals here. I am going to be taking pics before I leave. Have a wonderful day my friend! HUGS

Hi sweet Sue, So glad to visit with you-I am always so blessed by my visits here!!! Love the mama and her chicks and like you, I love simple things too. Last week my youngest canned 50 lbs of peaches-I was bursting with pride in her hard work. You are such a blessing and I love spending time at your place.

Thank you for stopping by my blog this Simple Pleasure Thursday. Your visit to me has enabled me to find you.

What beautiful photos!! You captured that scene perfectly!

Sadly, we are usually too busy to take notice of, much less enjoy, scenes like that. How sad it must make God to have given us a beautiful creation that we are generally too busy to enjoy.

Blessings,
Patti

Oh yes..I love those things that make me pause throughout the day too!
I agree with you..watching motherhood in God's creation is amazing.
We can learn so much from the birds and animals around us!
Jesus loved to use nature to express His thoughts to us - it's easy to see why when we slow down and observe it ourselves :-)

BTW Sue - don't you dare apologise for the length of your last post!!!Do you hear me?lol!
I enjoyed every word and photo!
love to you my friend..Trish

I enjoy watching animal mothers too. It always reminds me that God gives all exactly what they need to take care of their babies.

I enjoyed your previous post. You have a beautiful family. Looks like all had a great time and created some wonderful memories.

It's the same for me, it's the very most simple things that bring me the most joy. We have nine new baby chicks and I so love watching the mother hen cluck to them and they all come running! ;D

That's a lot of mothering, isn't it? What a sweet sight. (It does take some "doing" to keep them all herded though...not always such a simple task!)

Sue, I am always heartened by your "simple pleasures", and especially when they relate to motherhood! What sweet, sweet pictures you shared!

I LOVED your last post...do not change a thing. What a blessing to have your "babies" near you for a time. (And what a beautiful family you have!) I can relate to your melancholy as your loved ones leave and your house returns to "normal" life. It is always sad, and yet, I so agree with you that you want your children where God wants them.
Those days and moments that you and your dear hubby poured into your family, those sweet, sweet memories of all that you shared, will be a such a source of blessing...until the next time you can be with them.

And thank you for your comment on my recent blog post. (I should say "thank you again" for you always leave such sweet comments!) Thank you for your prayers for my friend. I am so happy that the song ministered to you. Those words spoke to me so powerfully! They are playing over and over and over again in my mind these past few days.

Hugs to you, my friend...
~ Cheryl

I love how you have your camera ready for a picture.
All mothers are very much the same. One eye on the lookout and the other on the little ones. There is a resemblance and connection.

Simple farm wifes are my very favorite!! I agree with you Sue. There IS nothing like a mama. Be it a farm mama or a... guinea hen? I'm just guessing here since you didn't identify her.

Have a wonderful weekend. Enjoy your porch and all of the simple pleasures that God brings to your path.

Blessings, Debbie
