Pear tree lane Farmhouse

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

Sue~

Whew! what a week!

Written by Sue, Friday, August, 26, 2011                                     ~Expecting rain and wind from hurricane Irene~

I had my first experience with an earthquake.... sitting on the couch minding my own business, when all of a sudden the house began to shake, the couch began trembling, and the lampshade  started swaying, I knew it was an earthquake, but it was over before it really began or I would  probably have panicked.....

Mr P. took ill and went to bed for two days , if you knew my dh, he never gives in, but earlier this week he came in at lunch, took a shower put his pj's on and went to bed, farmers don't do that unless they are about to go to the ER, at least this farmer doesn't..... he is doing fine now, it must have been a virus.....

Today was the kicker (no pun intended). I am getting ready to take my shower to go to the grocers for supplies as we have an impending hurricane coming up the east coast, I looked out the window and saw Rainy, the horse chasing one of our prized rams...

If any one has ever lived on a farm you know that your animals are always trying to find ways to escape, they are either jumping over fences, going through gates or holes, and even trying to dig out, never satisfied. The ram managed to climb through the gate, He had a nice place to graze, but was he satisfied? Nooo he had to go to the other pasture, (does this sound familiar?) Aren't we like this?
Philippians 4;11~ Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am to be content.
On with the story...

I immediately ran out of the house, barefooted, running as fast as I could to the pasture to chase Rainy away from the ram, the ram was so confused he didn't know how to get to the gate, all the while I was trying not to step on cow piles, but did manage to step on a fire ant hill,(I was running so fast the ants didn't have time to bite me,Whew!  He finally got the message and found his way out the gate, and guess who comes driving up just when I was finishing. Mr P. laughing , and saying how he wished he had been here with a camera... so much for appreciation. LOL

Later this afternoon, I decided  to take some photos before the storm, after taking some pics. I went to visit the chickens, and who comes out wanting to fight me,..He chased me, I chased him, so we called it a drawl, and who comes from the orchard laughing and saying how he wished he had a camera? Yep! you guessed right! Dh it is!... Don't worry I will catch him sometime soon, and "I" will have a camera. `LOL~
He's little, but boy is he mean, I don't know why he doesn't like me!

As you can see he is missing a lot of feathers,He used to be so "purdy" but all he wants to do lately is fight the other rooster, well! he has picked the wrong person to mess with, I am not beyond wringing his neck, and having rooster stew.(just kidding)~LOL~
I decided I was going to end this day on a happier note, I went to the flower garden  gathered some flowers and made bouquets.... Nothing like flowers, or chocolate, to make you feel better!!~smile~

Hydrangeas, Zinnias, Roses and Cosmos

Zinnias are one of my favorite flowers, I will tell you why one of these days!!!
I am giving thanks to my heavenly Father, that Irene has been down graded to category 1, instead of 3, and they say the impact will not be as predicted, (though lots of  rain and wind).
Praying for all as we go through this storm,
Sue
Philippians 1:3-4~I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy.

Yes indeed, you have had quite a week! Sorry your hubby was ill but am glad he is better now! I'm sure your 'antics' were the cherry on top to making him feel well again!
Oh, I've been know to step in 'things' I wish I hadn't a time or two, also! But when a farmgirl has business to attend, who worries about littel things like that! We wash! hehe!
Oh, naughty rooster! When mine try that, I chase them with a broom and smack them a time or two ~ they usually don't bother me anymore! :~D
Love the photos of your pretty flowers ~ can't wait to hear why Zinnias are your favorite! ;~}
Stay safe, my farm friend!

Oh Sue, how could anything not like you!The rooster must have had a hard knock on the head!
I'm glad your husband was not ill for too long. It is odd when they go to bed, isn't it?
Once again, God has spared us terrible tragedy by slowing the storm. His grace is consistent.
I think we all know better than to make a camera too available to our husbands. THey might blog about us!And I love zinnias too, though they have a tendency to get mildew here in my garden. What's with that?
Hugs, Deb

Good morning! This California girl has been through MANY an earthquake let me tell you, and they can be very scary...glad all was well with you. Sorry to hear hubby was sick...but happy to hear it was short lived. My hubby is like that too...if he actually admits he is sick and goes to bed, he probably needs an er...Mike was sick one day this week too....VERY unusual. Never did take to his bed though. Just kept coming in and out of the house for "rests"...no rest for farmers..I had to smile with your hubby wanting a pic of your encounters with the animals, haha...They probably WERE funny, but I will be looking forward to when you DO catch him. Have a wonderful week-end Sue. Thanks for the prayers....HUGS, Debbie

Well, I will admit I wish your DH had a camera too. :) I can just see you chasing after the ram but running from that rooster. Oh my gosh, I wonder why he doesn't like you? I am so glad it was downgraded too, I just think it was the Lord.
I love all of your pictures.

Oh my, I can relate to much of what you've shared. When my dad retired he started a farm - I was a teenager then - lots of chasing and lots of work!!! Now, my husband's dad has a small 'hobby' farm - they have chased the cows and goats so many times - they seem to prefer another farmer's pastures...hope your husband gets better - mine is the very same - so glad you visited that I might return the call - quite charmed by your blog!
God Bless,
Kathy

Oh!, I'm deLIGHTed you stopped by my place earlier -- so I'd have a chance to meet you!!! Oftentimes I'm stuck in a rut of work/sleep/eat/work and have to postpone blog-hopping.
This blog - your spot in the sun - makes me smile ... I'll definitely be back!

I don't know Sue.. I think maybe Mr. P was actually just resting up so he could be quick with the camera whenever you were in predicaments. Maybe he had a vision... lol.
That was some week! Dh will need to start carrying the camera in his pocket so hopefully he can get some good shots next time. If there is a next time.. hopefully the next weeks will prove to be without incident and there will be no need for that camera.
Honestly, this is such a feel-good blog and I always leave here blessed!! Thank you for sharing your days, Sue. (Phillippians 4:11~ one of my favorites!)

Is it wicked of me to say that I wish Mr. P would have had the camera? ;)

So glad that Irene's bark was worst than her bite. I would have hated what she would have done to all of those lovely flowers...

Just thinking how wonderful it is to have you back Sue. I always leave smiling... God is so good. And encouraging through our brothers and sisters is one of His great gifts. Thank you for the encouragements you always have for us.

Blessings, Debbie

Oh Sue~ I just love your stories! *giggle* I'm glad my hubby doesn't know how to work my camera or I'd be in BIG trouble.
