I went to bed last night, with many prayer needs on my heart and mind, some were personal others from family and friends far and near, and for you dear friends too.I am also much concerned about the direction our country is going.
As I lay there meditating, I felt this sense of "peace" that can only be given by our Heavenly Father. I was also pondering on some events in my own life, and wondered how I came through without falling apart. My Heavenly Father and I were quietly having a conversation, ... Don't you enjoy those special quiet moments with Him, especially in the wee hours of the morning?.....After a few minutes my mind was brought to a picture that hangs in the guest bathroom. Deuteronomy 33:27~ The eternal God is your refuge, And underneath are the everlasting arms;
He will thrust out the enemy from before you, and will say 'Destroy'

A fascinating life Mary had and difficult throughout. I am glad that she is now known as the author. I have often seen this poem ascribed to "Anonymous."
Thank you for sharing your heart, Sue. I've enjoyed listening to the music and learning about Mary.
Oh you asked if I enjoyed the early morning times with the Lord. In all honesty, at those times I'm usually begging Him for sleep, though there have been times when it has become very obvious why I was awake in the night and I always find that amazing and am humbled that I was wakened to pray or be prepared for a phone call that came.
Have a great weekend, Sweet Friend!
Amen...He carries us when we are too weak..He is strong when we are weak..oh yes! Recounting His past faithfulness only strengthens our faith for the walk today. His burden is light....and He brings us peace in the night as we lay it all at His feet.
I too have been laying so many concerns for others, our nation, and for my family at His feet.
I too have one of these framed...I think I bought it in the 80's. I will go read the story behind it.
How interesting, her story...mine says Loretta Davis...how interesting.
Oh, how many times has He carried us when we did not know! I am blessed to hear about your sweet time with our Lord. All the answers are in Him!
oh friend you are soooo right.. how many times have i layed there and thought "but God..dont you see my heart, dont you know how much I long for an answer to this problem" and then he comforts me,,not always with the answer, but always with peace..
Thanks for a wonderful reminder..
love ya my friend..
I have always been moved by that story. It is true, all of the things you shared and sometimes I just get so afraid, but then I remember other times and places and God has never failed.
I will be praying for you too.
Have a blessed Sunday.
I love this post and the previous one! I'm going to go read about the author now. And I love Psalm 91 also. It's funny because I find myself wearing an apron most days now as well! Although I've never carried baby chicks in it! And I wouldn't be brave enough to do it either! Enjoy your Sunday!
Beautiful post my friend. So glad that we can cast all of our cares on Him because He cares so much for us!
What a lovely and timely post, dear Sue! This week has been a bit trying for me, but Oh.... the Loving arms of Jesus!! When we cannot take a single step more, when the fog of doubt and confusion is all around us, HE IS THERE! And those hands of His have nailprints in them, and are big enough to hold the entire World!
Thanks for sharing "Footprints"! It is a very dear poem to me, and one I needed to be reminded of today!
May God continue to strengthen you and encourage you and hold you close....
Hugs,
Jenni
Wonderful, wisdom packed post, Sue. I am going to check out the link for the poem's author now.
This is a beautiful post, Sue. I was thinking as I walked the other day that I'm never, ever alone. That the Lord is always with me as he promised to be! I've never read anything about the author so I'll be reading that next. Have a great day!
Thank you so much for this post! I have always loved Footprints in the Sand. It always comforts me. I really appreciate this as I am going through getting over anemia I have my really good days and today I am not having such a good day. Thank you so much for your friendship.
I was just recently introduced to Mary's story and was so moved. Her poem was obviously written from the depths of an understanding heart. And It's SUCH a poem, one that has moved and encouraged so many over the years! I know the wee hour times in the presence of God. I'm glad that you were able to bring your worries before Him this day. I have days that I decide to wallow around in my stuff and I take so long to meet with Him. Of course, as soon as I do, I am filled, refreshed, reminded who is strong when I am weak.
Congratulations on the chicks! I missed this post when I was gone... I love the reminiscing about grandma and her apron. Funny the things we remember, the things that speak to our hearts. I'm certain that she never thought when she donned it each day, "this is the picture my grandchildren will hold in their memory throughout their lives..." But it is. And it's obviously precious since you are keeping alive the heritage of 'grandma's in aprons'!
Blessings, Debbie
Hi Sue, I had an answer to prayer. I asked the Lord yesterday afternoon to heal me, that I wouldn't feel so crummy in the morning. I woke up this morning feeling very refreshed and no more crummy feeling! God is good:)
I have always loved this poem and the song that Christi Lane (I think) sang with it. I hope that you find comfort and peace through your prayers.........just know that you are in mine. blessings,Kathleen
