~To live, love, and journal our days at~

Oh! what a beautiful morning~

Written by Sue, Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011                     Beautiful fall day, sunny, warm 70's

For scrubbing the porch,.. Our autumn keeps getting better and better. It has been a very long time since we have had a beautiful fall, like this one. It makes up for all the scorching, hot weather we had  this summer.~grin~
"Mommy, are we really going to clean the porch today?"  "Yes Lucy we are."  "Oh! boy! I can help!!"

Mr P's job was to scrub the ceiling, outside eaves and rails,   my job was to clean the wall, floor, and windows.
"this really looks like helping Lucy!!" "I didn't know you were going to use soap and water!!" says Lucy. She absolutely is allergic to soap and water, ....so she says.
All finished!! it took us most of the day, but so worth it!
WE need to put the furniture back on, which I did, but forgot to take a photo. Now!!! on with the decorating.. soon!!! I  like to have the porch clean before decorating for Christmas, yes, I said Christmas.~smile~ You know it will be here before we know it.

I have also been busy this week with cleaning and fluffing the inside, very slow with this too(only one room completed) ~lol~, if I don't soon hurry, Christmas will have come and gone. still lol

For today, I am so thankful for beautiful autumn weather, and a clean porch!

So how was your day? I hope it was filled with many blessings.

Giving thanks for you today,
Until next time,
1John 1:9~ If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Hi Sue,
Looks like a job well done! I just love your front porch. I wish I lived closer and could come and visit with you, and sit on your front porch! It seems like such a peaceful place to sit.

The top photo of all the trees is just beautiful! Thank you for sharing your photos. Enjoy the rest of your week! :)

Debbie November 10, 2011 at 1:23 AM

Oh Sue those tress are sooo gorgeous! And nothing like the feeling of something all spic and span is there? Looks great! I am glad to hear someone else is getting a jump start on Christmas decorating. We (by "we" I mean hubby, haha) are going to put up the outside lights etc. this week-end. I like it to be up the WHOLE month of Dec., and Thanksgiving week-end when we usually do it is all spoken for. Still sewing over here, haha....think I might be saying that for a while. : ) Glad you had a good day! HUGS

Sue, your trees are truly majestic!
What a beautiful drive it must be to your front door!
Your verandah is lovely too - just perfect for sitting outside to meditate on all that beauty!
Christmas decorating already?
You sure are a busy bee, my friend, lol!
bless you..Trish

So beautiful Sue!

I have been reading through your blog this morning and enjoying it very much. I especially love the post you did on your mother and aging gracefully!

LDH November 10, 2011 at 7:01 AM

It truly has been a most colorful autumn here too. I thought it was from all of the rain we had this summer and yet you had very hot scorching heat. Either way... it is gorgeous!

Lovely clean porch! :)

Vee November 10, 2011 at 8:13 AM

It was challenging, but then...

Oh beautiful, beautiful clean porch! You just love a clean slate I can tell. Looking forward to seeing it all decked out!

A Hint of Home November 10, 2011 at 8:35 AM

Hi Sue,
I've missed so many of your posts in the last 3 wks. I had to go back and visit them.
Your porch looks squeaky clean and fresh! So glad your ring is on your finger now. It's beautiful!
Your Mom is beautiful! My mom turned 86 on the 8th. and she still cuts her grass. I can only hope to be that fortunate.
God has been so good to her and your mom.
BTW, I just got three more watches at my party. I learned how to change the batteries myself while the girls were here and to get them in a pkg. of 8 for $1 at the Dollar Tree store. I'm a happy camper! lol
The girls in my family keep giving me beautiful watches and this will be a huge savings!
Have a great day, friend!

On my list of things for MY hubby to do the day before Thanksgiving! Can't wait to see your Christmas decorating for your porch and your house!

Your trees are beautiful. I don't have a front porch, but I have a big deck off the back of our home. I sure miss my former home and its porch with a swing.

I like that you painted the ceiling blue. I don't know how that began, but I like it.

Love your dog, too.

Farm Girl November 10, 2011 at 10:43 AM

You are always so busy. I need to get my porch railing cleaned before we put lights on it. We are having wind again today and tomorrow so it would be silly to try and clean today.
It looks beautiful around your porch though and the trees are just beautiful.
It is always so nice to get caught up with you.

Carmen C. November 10, 2011 at 10:52 AM

BEAUTIFUL!!! All our trees here in PA are bare already:( Your porch is wonderful and I LOVE how Lucy is helping;O my shepherd declares that she is allergic to soap and water as well, LOL! Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day:)

va_grown November 10, 2011 at 12:54 PM

We usually do our porch cleaning in the spring and then use it all Summer long. It's in need again, but that chore hasn't gotten back on The List yet!

Looks lovely! Seems like a wonderful place to visit and fellowship!

Carole November 10, 2011 at 5:28 PM

Your porch looks very similar to my in-law's porch. We'll get to sit on it in a few weeks and I'm sure I'll think of you at that time. :o)

Sunny November 10, 2011 at 7:58 PM

Your porch looks gorgeous, Sue. So nice when husband and wife work together to accomplish a project, as I know you two do so often. I miss those times with my husband. I just returned from a week with my daughter and new husband, and the neat thing was I got to witness them working very well togetheralso. makes my heart glad!

What a beautiful place to be able to spend time, Sue. Just beautiful!

Cheryl November 10, 2011 at 10:06 PM

Sue, I am not at all surprised that you took advantage of a gorgeous autumn day to tackle a big project! As I have told you before...you work circles around me, girl!
Can't wait to see your porch festooned in its holiday best. Please show us when it's ready. :-)

Nabila Grace November 10, 2011 at 10:42 PM

Those trees are so pretty! And what a nice porch to clean and get ready for the next season! :o) Can't wait to see the after decorated pictures! :o)

Not only do you have one of the most Awesome porches I've ever seen, but the views from the porch are off the charts beautiful. Also, Lucy is so cute, and clearly has a very wonderful life.

Today I am thankful for the smiling faces of the people I encountered while at the grocery store. It's amazing how just a kind smile from people we don't know, or have a conversation with can brighten anyones day.

God bless you friend, and many big hugs
~ Michele <><

Love the trees and the porch.
I love how you and Mr P are always working together. It takes a lot of work and time to keep up a home and a farm....I know! Raising and homeschooling my two grand daughters takes so much of my time that I struggle to keep up around here. Like you I take it one room at a time but by the time I get to the last area its time to start all over again.....Count it all joy! Right......We too have have very beautiful, long, warm, colorful fall with georgous weather however it looks like it is all going to change for us this weekend :o( hate to see it go...winter is very long around here. I have plenty to do indoors to keep me busy though.

Looks so nice! We are trying to clean too but it seems it is getting worse before it is (hopefully) getting better with dragging all the stuff out of closets.

Sue, I always admire y'all's cozy, comfy porch so much... and now it is squeeky clean for the Holidays.... it is THE prettiest porch... so inviting, makes you want to sit and sip a tall cold glass of ice tea.... I can't WAIT to see all of your Christmas decorations!

Janette@Janette's Sage November 14, 2011 at 9:35 AM

Sue...the labor of your hands always speaks to my soul each time...there is a contentment that comes from working. Your porch just beacons visitors. May your porch welcome many this holiday season and may the energize you!

I still wish I was around the corner to enter into the cleaning..I am a good helper.

Paula November 14, 2011 at 10:02 PM

Oh, Sue~ your porch looks fantastic! But you wear me out watching all the work you've done... *giggle*
I need to so some of that scrubbing and cleaning too, but I have to get in the mood to clean first! *hehe*

Debbie November 16, 2011 at 8:19 AM

Autumn makes me want to clean my porch, too! I just did mine recently, and then I even did some cosmetic changes too.

I agree that it just plain FEELS good to have a clean front porch.

Janette@Janette's Sage November 21, 2011 at 6:42 PM

Benjamin and I just wanted to come by and say Happy Thanksgiving and send you a hug.

May your family be blessed through the season

Cheryl November 21, 2011 at 9:03 PM

Just popping in to say "Hi", Sue. I pray that your absence in Blogland is due to your being your usual busy beaver self...and not due to illness or troubles! Just know that you are missed.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

Sharing thoughts from my heart with you,

The farmer and his friends
Thank you so much for coming by, please come and visit anytime.

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

The phrase "There's no place like home", is so true.

No matter where I go, I always love turning the key and hearing that clicking sound in the lock of our back door . Even if I have only gone shopping, I am so happy to be home.

Did you know that every home has its own scent, the first thing I do is sniff the air, and I offer a quiet prayer of thankfulness, and for safety.

My decorating style is my own, I decorate with the colors and treasures that are me. One of the things that I have enjoyed about blogging is the difference in how we all view the world, and our homes. Just like our Creator made each of us to be unique, we create our own unique styles and colors in our own homes. I have learned so much from you and enjoyed your homes so much, and have learned so much about you from your homes...

I truly believe that God wants us to have a safe haven to come home too, a place we can claim as our own,... just like us, homes come in all shapes and sizes if love is there it is our home.., if our things are there it is our home. When we add our own personal touches, it is our home

Home is a place we can go to when the storms of life are raging. I often listen to the wind and rain when it is coming down hard and am reminded of the safety of our sheltering home. It is the one place that we control what and who comes in, (well, most of the time. lol)

Sometimes late at night, when I am unable to sleep I will get up and as I am walking across the room, I hear the floor creek beneath my feet, I go, sit, and listen to other sounds that my home makes, a pop here and there in the wall, it is like the wall is talking to me. A home not only has its own scent, but it also has its own sound. I truly believe that a home takes on its own personality, US!!

So why this blog?....
I wanted a place that I could come, talk about, and share of how my day was spent here at the "farmhouse", and about the things that I do to make it a "home". Making a house a home is a lifetime endever, and I might add a joy, as our lives are always changing.
