~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

I never thought I would be saying this...

Written by Sue, Saturday,January, 7, 2012,                      absolutely beautiful sunny day, temps.60's
I had not planned for my first post of 2012 to be on a negative note, but feel I must talk about this. It has become necessary for me to put a note on my side bar of not using text or photos without permission or linking back. I have seen this  note on a lot of sidebars and wondered if or  why it was necessary, I now know the answer to this...As I would never take anything that doesn't belong to me without asking first.

I have been offline for about a week, and yesterday while checking my email, my friend LDH had sent me a note informing me of a  person living in Brazil, using both her family photos and my family photo as her own. She gave me a link, I went and checked, and there the photos were in plane sight, I checked on some of her earlier posts and photos and found even more personal photos of mine, there was even one of Mr. P with his sheep, ( he thought this was so funny,) Much thanks to LDH.

This lady has a beautiful blog with lots of pretty photos, I wondered how many of your photos might be on her site. You might want to check it out. If she had asked permission and had told whose they were I  might have considered, though I don't know why.

I googled her site and found there were even more complaints from others of her plagarisms. I read a comment on one of her posts, and she had a friend who was chastising her, ever so politely, for using other's photos I never want to make anyone feel uncomfortable, but she has left me no other choice. Here is the site.http://mylifepalavrassmagicasparte1.blogspot.com/. If you google it you will be given an option to translate in English.

This was not easy for me to write, as I want to always try and be gracious to others. Needless to say I am not sitting here wringing my hands over this, but felt I should give the heads up about it, after all none of us want photos of our family to fall into the wrong hands.

On a lighter note, I will be outside today  enjoying the beautiful day and weather God has given us, as I know it is about to change. ~smiling~ it is winter you know!

Until next time,
Sue

Sue, I am glad you wrote about this...I have not posted pictures of my family on my blog...Especially my daughter as they can prop her face and put her on someone elses body... Nor do I say what college my kids went to and ect...even tho we like to share we have to be so careful for those of us who do us wrong...I don't say where my husband works either... I still plan to show pictures of things I do and ect...Personal pictures I stay away from...I would love to show my family and will occassionally..

Enjoy the outside today....Lisa

Wow that totally freaked me out because there are photos from some of my other friends on there too.
But taking your family photos and your husband and your sheep oh my gosh how weird.
My kids are always after me to water mark mine but never saw the reason too.

What? What kind of NERVE is that? I will go and take a peek, although I'm pretty sure that no one would want to claim to be me.

I worry (a lot) about someone copying from my blog without permission. Not that I have anything that grand, but it's mine.

I'm so sorry that happened!!

Hello Sue,

I am still unsure how to handle this situation. I posted recently and put my blog address across the photos. Made them look awful but until I can think of something better I will do that to pics of people.

Kindly, Lorraine

Hi Sue, I can so understand your being upset; my brother always tells me not to post pics of our grands for fear some freak will copy them for awful purposes. I hope this gal just admires you so much and your blog but really???? I didn't see any of my photos but think your name across the bottom of all the photos should help. I don't know how to do that either but might have to learn. I know Ann of Holy Experience and many others have gone to doing this; what a said statement.
Hope you enjoy the warmth of the day.
Hugs, Noreen

Hi Sue~

Oh my goodness - I was shocked to see the picture of Mr. P. with his sheep on her site! I have a similar note on my sidebar, and have recently felt that I need to be careful about posting pictures of my grandchildren online. I think it's sad that there are those who would abuse our privacy - and I thank you so much for bringing this site to our attention.

You have such a beautiful blog, and they say that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, but in this case, it is wrong on so many levels!

Warm Hugs,
Barb

Oh ugh. I hadn't even considered the possibility of anyone taking my photos. Well, you know, other than finding them on the www. For a while there if anyone Googled schoolboy, up popped my grandson picture climbing on the schoolbus. I didn't like that very much at all. It's the price we pay, but I do think there's a recourse in this situation by reporting the site to Blogger, which I would do ASAP.

Vee said...

Oh and I'd just like to add that this would not stop me from posting photos because it's a camera freak world and people can take pictures anytime anyplace you or yours are out and about and post them. So let's be aware while still being reasonable.

Still, this site should be reported and the sooner the better.

Thank you for sharing this unpleasant experience with us, Sue. How awful to see your personal pictures on someone else's blog. I have a tendency to think that the people who leave comments are the only ones who read my blog, even though I know that isn't true. We'd probably be shocked if we knew all of the places our photos show up.

Hi, I'm a new reader of your blog. So sorry this happened to you.
I cannot believe the nerve of some people!

There is an easy way to watermark your photos. I recently started using live writer for my blogging. It is a microsoft product, but it is totally free.

You can adjust the font, size and placement of the watermark on your pics, and see how it looks right in your blog. Live Writer is fairly easy to use too. I'm loving the program for my blogger blog... I can post a link for the program info, or you can google Microsoft Live Writer.

So sorry this happened to you- and I definitely know how you feel- watermarking is a great idea, I may try that myself.

Sue
I just went to the site and see it was removed. I'm so glad!!
I cannot even imagine the mind set of a person who would do such a horrible thing.
Thank God she won't be doing it again!

It's gone, but how strange! I do not put family pics on the net, son won't allow it. Too many strange people out there who take the pics and do strange things with them. Happens all the time.
People have found their kids faces superimposed elsewhere.

Glad to know that this site has been removed.

It has happened often enough that shouldn't be happening ... no scrupples. So sorry you had to endure this, Sue.

Sue, oh my goodness! that is terrible! What nerve some people have... I don't know if she had any of my pics, cuz when I clicked on your link.... "she" or whomever was operating that blog, has totally taken the blog down...

I am so sorry she did that to you, dear friend... thanks for the heads up, to let us all know to be very careful.

Hugs!

Sorry this has happened. It makes me think, I sure do post a lot of photo's... I think it is very weird for someone to have a pretend family, and post other people's photo's as there own. I guess I better look into this watermark idea. Dropped by via Vee.

THis is an issue we all worry about from time to time. I'm so sorry this happened to you. And so glad to hear that we can report this to blogger and they will take action. I always want to share photos on my blog because my family is spread out as far as Germany and it's a way for them to connect with us.
Thank you for sharing this issue!

Best to you in 2012! Sherry

We are blessed to have real friends in Blogland to watch over us.
Because we all care about each other, we are able to help each other out.
The blog is gone because "she" was caught by a friend of yours.
Be cautious & vigilant and keep sharing your pictures!

Dear Sue,
I'm so sorry to hear what has happened with your photos. I did try the link, but the blog has thankfully been removed. I feel bad that you have had to go through this...

Hi Sue,

I've thought about the fact that anyone can copy anything that I've written personally and claim it as their own. Since I have the language bar on my blog I do notice when I check stats that I have people visit from different countries I've never even heard of.

Whenever someone new joins my blog I try to check out their blog, because sometimes people just join to get someone to click onto their blog.

Since I began blogging I've had at least 10 people who I had to block from my blog, because their blogs have what I would put in the category of " R " rated pictures and language. I know their intent is most likely not to read my blog, but just to attract people to their blog.

I removed a person tonight, after I viewed their blog. They had a post titled " Antichrist" along with inappropriate photos, and other things I won't mention. I'm thinking that I may remove the "join blog" from my home page.

I'm glad you shared this information. Also, I am so sorry that your personal photos were being used without your permission.

God bless you friend,
Sending you a big hug and a smile :o)
~ Michele

Wow, Sue! What a lot of (unwanted!) drama this weekend!

This new world that we live in...the world of connections and media and satellites and global-ness (I think I just made up a word!)...is full of new rules and struggles that go along with it. I am glad that you are not going to stop sharing here, because the friendships that we are making are real ones, despite the fact that there are those who take advantage of the greater accessablity. Sigh...

Thankfully, the troubling blog has been removed. But it is a warning light to us to be "as wise as serpents and as harmless as doves."

Blessings to you...

Oh my...just stopped in after a week of birthdays, and I am so sorry!!! Things do surprise me but it does make me aware that the enemy will use what God intends for good.

I hope you have a wonderful week...love the Christmas picture on the side bar...lady you look wonderful, now I want your trick!!

Wow, how weird that they would do that. I can see why they would want your photos as they are beatiful but it seems so strange that they would claim them as their own. Well, I am glad the site is down and hopefully it will all stop.

Sue, This is shocking and also scary. I have slowed down on posting my kids for this reason. I still post some photos, but I worry too. I've seen many people put words onto the photo and wonder if I should do that. I don't really care, if someone wants to use my photos, but I would feel terrible if they put different body on my daughters or used my photos inappropriately. I think it would bother me if they cut and pasted my whole blog and put ads up so that they could be paid. Well, this is all something to think about. Thank you for sharing, Sue. I'm sorry that this happened to you, and truly wonder if it has already happened to me, but I just don't know it. Hugs, Kathi

My mom just told me about this incident on the phone this morning. I had to come read about it myself. How awkward and uncomfortable!
I'm thinking of making mine private again, especially when this baby comes along and I want to post pics of her. Makes me question all the pictures I do post.
I especially am not fond of others taking my pictures and putting them on Pinterest. Maybe I should take it as a compliment, but I just don't feel comfortable about it.
