Pear tree lane Farmhouse

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

A journey of journeys

Written by Sue, Sunday, Dec.10, 2012            sunny, a warm day, temps. 72

What a life!! He watches me while I work. This is Jack, and he has graciously decided to adopt DH and I, (he really did adopt us, and we are so happy he chose us).
Hello  everyone,
Hope all is well with you, I wanted to stop by and give an update on our remodeling project.
We have gone from this...

He rolled the walls, and

I painted all of the trim, if in the future you see anything white, please note, moi painted it. I decided I wanted to save Mr P. some money, he figured almost $1500.
What's that you asked? Did we have any consultations while doing this project. uhhmm!!

I'm not telling and don't  ask Jack, he's not talking either., he knows who butters his bread

Getting everything covered before the floor guy comes, and am I glad we covered this system.

 WHEW! what a mess!!
The dust from the sander  put saw dust all over the newly painted walls, it stuck like glue..lol It took DH and I, 4 days to remove it. Did I mention what a mess they made?!!!!
Friday was moving in day."So long PODS, I hope we never have to meet again."
To This.....

Yesterday was spent cleaning said furniture, the 40 plus boxes stored upstairs have yet to be unpacked! As of today no Christmas decorations have been put up, though DH has promised me a live tree this week.~smile~Last night as I walked through the house relishing in the fact that this journey is almost over and that the house  was once again clean, and as I looked about I also realized that what I saw was just that ... a house...

The above photos are photos of a "HOUSE",....
To me what makes a "HOME" is when "LOVE" is placed all about, which I am so looking forward to doing. There will be memories placed throughout of  family photos, and of gifts that were lovingly given by family and friends. Gifts that say "I love you, and I care for you." I will add my small touches that say "I love you back, and you are always "WELCOMED HERE". Our homes should reflect our own individual "hearts", at least this is what I try to do.

I will also once again be pulling pots and pans out of the cabinet, busying myself in the kitchen baking something that smells so homey, hoping to rid our home of that fresh paint smell!~AHH~...
It will also give me a chance to give my new farmhouse sink a workout. The sink was on my wish list for a long time, DH decided now would be a great time to get it installed.  Keep in mind that when the sink was bought and installed we didn't know about the two large windows that had to be replaced. Knowing me, I would not have got the sink, because I am so frugal. ~grin~

This has been a journey of journeys, I have learned so much not only about remodeling, but about myself as well. I firmly believe that God is in control of our life. This remodeling was not of our choosing, a tiny little leak in a pipe within a wall took us on this long journey, and if this little leak had not been found  we would not have known about a more serious problem and that was of two picture windows that had been leaking water in the walls, which was beginning to cause mildew, and we all know that this would have led to "MOLD", thus health problems. Our home is only 12 yrs. old, we wondered how this could happen, the contractor informed us that the windows had been improperly installed.

 The first one installed!

Well Dear Friends, this is what we have been up to the last six months, and as I leave tonight, I am so thankful that this journey is almost completed, and am now wondering what new adventures and new journeys are ahead for us, one thing for sure, God is always with us, He never leaves us to travel the journeys alone, whether it is health problems, death, financial, family, or just a small leak in a wall problem. He makes a way for us to finish our journey, and in so doing prepares us for the next one.
Until next time
Much love,
Sue
p.s. they say hind sight is 20-20, I am now wishing I had posted more often of this journey, this might have been a shorter post. LOL You think? nah no way!!t

Oh Sue WHAT a journey this must have been! I just absolutely LOVE what you have done. The floors are gorgeous, and the colors on the walls are warm and inviting. The counter tops are soo nice. How fun this must all be and how happy you must be to FINALLY be done with it. A few years ago we did a complete remodel of our kitchen in our old house. It took 3 months. I thought it would NEVER be done. How grateful I was for it, and how I enjoyed it. I am soo happy for you now to move everything back into this beautiful house and make it home. I've missed you in the blog world, but can I ever see how busy you have been. Looking forward to see it all once you've put your special touch on it all. HUGS!

The final outcome is looking great! I know it's a lot of work and messy, too but it's almost like getting a new house! Good for you painting all that white trim. I love the colors you've chosen. And by the way, I love your heading photo all decorated for Christmas. Very warm and inviting. Merry Christmas.

I have missed your posts (and my own, to be honest) and wish that I had posted more about my own journey in the past few months. I'm so glad to have this transformation update from you and the time to read it from me!

Sue,

Your home is lovely! What I've missed is your blogging! I am glad for your visits to my blog, I can imagine the complete exhaustion from such a project!

So glad that everything is now done. Maybe you can post some photos when you get all the Love put back into the rooms - the stuff that makes a house a home!

Enjoy the process!

Well Sue you will have a new house for Christmas right? It looks just beautiful to me. I think that what got me was the painting and then you had to redo it after the sanding dust. Oh that must have been so hard. What a lot of work! I am so glad you are able to take pictures now. I am glad it is almost finished and I am so glad you found the other leaks.
Well I hope soon you can sit back and enjoy all of the fruit to your labors and your sweet dog is just precious. Thank you so much for the update.

Ohhhh...Sue, it looks so beautiful! Truly wonderful. You know, the Word does say that we get the desires of our heart so don't feel too bad about any of the sweet extras...those are God winks just letting you know how much He loves you. We know that your hubby does! Whistling on my way out the door. I'll be back just as soon as I smell baking!

Bless your heart~ six months? I can't imagine, Sue....
The end result is beautiful, but so sad that you had to do so much work on such a new house.
But like you said... God has a plan, and HE knew... :)

It is wonderful and I can't wait to show Benjamin. When I read him your email he said, "now is her husband helping her?" He wanted to make sure you weren't doing it yourself, and since his brother is a home builder these pictures will look like what his oldest Bubba does.

It is beautiful....and yes my dear you always fill it with love and your house always reflects your love of family and friends. May you continue to enjoy it...your home is a blessing to so many.

Now put up those feet..relax a minute, before you get busy again.
Love and Hugs from Benjamin and I!!

Hi Sue!
I've been wondering what you were up to - and what a busy girl you've been!
The floor looks fantastic and I love the new paintwork.
Give yourself and Mr P a big pat on the back :-)
You'll have fun re-decorating.
The new farmhouse sink is wonderful!
Jack is adorable and obviously very smart - couldn't have picked a better family to adopt!
Have a great day, my friend.
love and blessings..Trish xx

So glad you made it through and retained your sanity, your trust in the Lord for completion of the project, ..... and .... your sense of humor! Glad you found out before the mold got a chance to grow. Trueky the Lord takes care of his own! Have a blessed Christmas!

Your home looks beautiful. The floors look great. We need to have ours refinished, as the finish is really worn after over 30 years. The problem is, where to put our stuff while the floors are being redone. Had considered PODS but feel uneasy about them. How was your experience with your furniture being stored in them? Any practical suggestions about having the floors refinished? Dust sticking to the walls does not sound too good.

Sue, bless your heart! You and Mr. P. have worked so hard and the results are beautiful! I'm sure it was a l-o-n-g journey! Thanks for giving us a peek into your lovely home, even before you put the love back in it. I know you're going to make it perfectly homey and welcoming. (And I'm so glad you got your farmhouse sink!) ;)

Christmas blessings to you, friend!

Hi Sue,
It was so good to hear from you today,
I have really missed you but could not remember the name of your blog to save my life, and happened to see you left a comment at Wallking on Sunshine and clicked on your pic to see if your blog would come up but it didn't and I was so disappointed and then just about 10 mins. later I saw you had left a comment, and was so delighted.

Wow, you have been doing some heavy duty remodeling. Those windows are gorgeous, and can't wait to see what you do in your newly remodeled house, know it will be lovely as always.

Hope you had a lovely 'Christmas and was able to put that tree up.

Yes, it's "just a house" - but it (as all good gifts) has come to you through the hand of God Himself. So much to savor, now :)

What a huge undertaking, but the transformation is gorgeous! I don't think I could have endured it. You must be made of tough stuff, LOL. I adore the farmhouse sink. We chose one for our cottage when we built 2 years ago. I specifically did NOT ask for the price. I didn't want to know or else I would have talked myself out of it. I about died later on when I saw the itemization. I only regret the price, not the sink!
