~To live, love, and journal our days at~

Grandma's brag book~ indulge me, please

Written by Sue, Tuesday, May 28, 2013      What a beautiful day, sunny, high 80's

Sitting on the porch enjoying  this beautiful day thinking of many things, yesterday we said good bye to the last family members and sent them back home with lots of hugs and kisses, and to what they referred to as reality. smiling~

We have had four separate and combined visits with family this month, what a wonderful time it has been, though I sit here this morning a little tired, I am basking in all the love we shared. I am also missing them , but have much to do to catch up, we let things that can be let go run themselves when family comes. I will be making strawberry preserves this afternoon, and begin the task of putting things back together here at the farmhouse.!grin~ My thoughts are also directed to "YOU" my dear friends here in blogland, I just haven't had time to visit, and for this I apologize.....

The first visit was from grandson Gabe, and his intended (how do you like the word, intended, kinda old fashion, which I like? ~smile~) her name is Savannah, they both attend UKL. Both leave this Friday for a missions trip to Ethiopia. We were so pleased when he called and wanted to come visit and introduce Savannah.  She is just so precious.
All of our kids and grand kids love the farm and come when they can, to visit, and be rejuvenated!

We put you to work when you visit us, they look like they had fun. Great job, guys! Thanks for the help!

Gabe and I are very competitive, especially when it comes to Monopoly, guess who won, could it be I let him win. (wink)

A big catfish, indeed
Making chocolate covered strawberries

By the time the linens were washed Will, our Navy boy, brought his fiancee,Jennifer, for us to meet. She loved it so much that they asked if their wedding could be held here at the farm, "of course we would be honored."

So cute and so much "in love." Isn't she precious, too?

We catch a lot of creatures around here! lol
Here is one that didn't get away!

Initials carved, proclaiming their love!

Congratulations on your promotion....Petty-officer Third-class. Isn't he adorable, we did a lot of reminiscing while they were here, even took out old photos, which they made a photo album and took back with them.

Next visit was from Susan, she also has met a wonderful young man, Robert, and wanted us to meet, Susan has gone through so much the past several years, and we are so happy that she is once again finding happiness and getting on with her life.
lots of turtles here at the farm...
late evening games, this is called locks, lots of fun, Robert made the boxes great job!

Finally Dre, Lee Anne and the kids came while Susan was here, brother and sister haven't seen each in other in quite awhile. As a parent it was so much fun to watch them together.

The first thing they wanted to do was pick the strawberries, and loved it dearly

We always let the grand kids pick out new chicks at the local farm store, this is one way we replenish our flocks. ~grin~
Homemade slip and slide.....
We kept pushing Lee Anne to try,...
great run!!
Papa decided to try but,
chickened out at the last minute, I knew all along he wasn't about to slip and slide,

 Love these two gals,

Sheep must be let out to pasture...
Of course, Jack and Papa have to go for a ride..

We always end the visits with a bonfire,Texas style!

Just a few of the memories made this month, I am waiting for the family to send me their photos, of course Grandma will bring out her brag book, stay tuned!

Much love,

Wow! What a month! Great memory making times on the farm. It must warm the heart to know that one of the grandsons will have his wedding there! This may start quite a trend. :D I've missed you, but have known that you were having wonderful family times. Now catch your breath and decompress and then you can catch up a little in Blogdom.

Oh Sue what a lovely month for you. I just loved all of the photos. I bet your house just feels so empty.
I am so thrilled you get to have a wedding at your house. What great fun that will be.
I am so glad I got to stop by and get caught up on your life for May. :) I am sure there has been so much going on. You have so much to praise God for and I am so glad it has been so nice for you all.

What a beautiful family you have and still growing! You are very blessed.
Isn't it special to have your family with you and have fun time? My sister's recent visit was very special and I missed her dearly too when she left that I had to invite my daughter and granddaughter for the long holiday weekend to have more family fun time.
You do have a lot of wild life going on at the farm I couldn't believe how long that snake was!!!
I am taking some time off from blogging this summer, I thought a little disconnect from cyber world would be good for me. I will continue to check in and read blogs to keep in the loop!
What a wonderful blog this was thanks for sharing your life.

You have such a beautiful family, Sue! Looks like happy times there at your lovely home. I loved seeing the photos. Oh my, that snake! And the catfish are huge! I know you've had a lot of fun, but probably are now in need of a rest. So get all rested up, then show us some more of your photos. Take care!

It was wonderful to see an update from you. You have been busy in the best way possible! I guess "Bring them home to meet the family" was your theme for this spring. I sure would like some days like that.

Won't it be wonderfully fun to host a wedding at Pear Tree Lane Farm?? Oh, I hope you invite us to peek.

Doniene May 30, 2013 at 8:28 AM

Oh Sue, your post just filled my heart to overflowing!! I am so thankful that you had such a wonderful time with an absolutely wonderful family! God truly allows our cups to over runneth!

Perfect. I'm so very happy for you and yours. Love everywhere.. I've been apprehensive about my kids being gone. The two that already are gone reappear more often than I expected and I'm so thankful. I let myself get nervous... will it be the same after the baby comes? Of course we do our best to make it to their side of the mountain too.. You give me hope that things change, but the love and the desire to be together doesn't. So good to have you back.

Blessings, Debbie

Dear Sue, Your family is so very blessed to have you and your hubby plus such a wonderful place to come home too!!! Love seeing all the couples and hearing of all that they did. Wonder what type of a snake it was? The only good tasting catfish we've ever had was in Mississippi-the ones at the market taste like muddy bay water. I loved fried dill pickles served with it. I've missed you but totally understand; blessing on you canning this week.
Hugs, Noreen

Ok, Sue! Now I want to schedule a visit!
How very wonderful.

Christine June 2, 2013 at 11:28 PM

How special that everyone wants you two, to meet their that special person in their lives! That says so much about how much they respect your approval and excitement.

The tired feelings are good. Just knowing that your loved ones came, shared , enjoyed, rested, played, worked and loved, is worth it.

Great visiting The Farm, again.

Sharing thoughts from my heart with you,

The farmer and his friends
Thank you so much for coming by, please come and visit anytime.

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

The phrase "There's no place like home", is so true.

No matter where I go, I always love turning the key and hearing that clicking sound in the lock of our back door . Even if I have only gone shopping, I am so happy to be home.

Did you know that every home has its own scent, the first thing I do is sniff the air, and I offer a quiet prayer of thankfulness, and for safety.

My decorating style is my own, I decorate with the colors and treasures that are me. One of the things that I have enjoyed about blogging is the difference in how we all view the world, and our homes. Just like our Creator made each of us to be unique, we create our own unique styles and colors in our own homes. I have learned so much from you and enjoyed your homes so much, and have learned so much about you from your homes...

I truly believe that God wants us to have a safe haven to come home too, a place we can claim as our own,... just like us, homes come in all shapes and sizes if love is there it is our home.., if our things are there it is our home. When we add our own personal touches, it is our home

Home is a place we can go to when the storms of life are raging. I often listen to the wind and rain when it is coming down hard and am reminded of the safety of our sheltering home. It is the one place that we control what and who comes in, (well, most of the time. lol)

Sometimes late at night, when I am unable to sleep I will get up and as I am walking across the room, I hear the floor creek beneath my feet, I go, sit, and listen to other sounds that my home makes, a pop here and there in the wall, it is like the wall is talking to me. A home not only has its own scent, but it also has its own sound. I truly believe that a home takes on its own personality, US!!

So why this blog?....
I wanted a place that I could come, talk about, and share of how my day was spent here at the "farmhouse", and about the things that I do to make it a "home". Making a house a home is a lifetime endever, and I might add a joy, as our lives are always changing.
