Pear tree lane Farmhouse

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

Written by Sue, Tuesday, June 2, 2015               partly cloudy, with showers, 80's

Just a quick note,....

A few hours yesterday was spent picking, shelling, and canning English peas,

All by  my lonesome self, well, not exactly  Jack and Lucy,(our faithful companions) were sitting close by~

Reasons Why I can..
1~I enjoy it so much
2~More economical
3~it is organically grown
4~ I know who handled the produce
5~etc...
BTW Do you see that iron in the background? I put it to good use yesterday too,  as a matter of fact I worked for quite a few hours straight without a brake, even slept under sheets that were kissed by the sun, soooo.
Mr P thought I deserved a day off we are leaving just as soon as I finish this post for our State Farmers Market, "flowers and herbs here I come."

WOW! I can hardly believe I wrote his post in fifteen minutes!!! Just goes to show you what you can do if you put your mind to it!~Grin~
Enjoy your day,
love,
Sue

I admire women who can. I can't. I just had a similar conversation with Kim at Camp and Cottage Living. She loves to can, too. I do love seeing beautiful jars of produce in those jewel tones lined up on a shelf. Hope that you had a lot of fun at the Farmer's Market! Keep canning because you love it and because, as I recall, you bless your family with the results.

I have to add to your list of reasons for canning...
You make each jar a work of ART.
And when you see a whole row of the jars. it's beautiful as "can" be!

How nice, your peas look wonderful. I am in total agreement with you about canning our own food. I think it adds so much to our health and well being. Not to mention the satisfaction there is in sharing with others. I hope you have a wonderful time looking at plants. My favorite stores, and Tractor supply.

Hope you got lots of goodies at the Farmers Market. : )

Those peas look soooo good. The canned ones are mushy. I don't have any garden space in my yard but when we lived in Dallas we gardened and loved the fresh produce. Maybe our retirement home will have some space for that. Have a great week.

Sue, I am never surprised at the amount of work that you accomplish! Not any more! I have known you long enough now to know that you are always busy doing something or six things...and making it look smooth and easy!

Hope you had a relaxing day and lots of fun at the farm market! Hugs...

Good morning! How I love to come by here and see what you've been up to. I so enjoy hearing about your latest canning project or what's happening on your farm. Something about it all makes me feel like all is right with the world, lol. I am glad you enjoy it all soo much, but just as glad you enjoy sharing it with us! Hope you had a good day out with Mr. P and enjoyed your break. Have another good day!

I admire your canning skills, Sue. I used to can but haven't in several years. BG was just saying the other day that we (ha! on the WE part!) should start canning again because we would know the food is untouched by chemicals, etc. I don't know that I'm up to the task, so I steered the conversation in another direction. :) I still have all my jars and canner just in case, tho. I hope you enjoyed going to the Farmer's Market...you certainly deserved a break! Have a nice week!

You are a dynamo! I know how to can. I did peaches last year. I love opening a jar of peaches in the winter and enjoying that fresh taste! I don't do a lot of canning though.

You are a gift to your family. I hope you got a lot of wonderful things at your farmer's market!

Hi Sue!

Yum, I love peas, and I love to can! You are truly a girl after my own, canning heart! I love the sense of accomplishment that putting good food in a jar brings. Like you, I especially love being able eat food that I prepared, and know what is in it.

What a fun treat - who does not love to go to the Farmer's Market?!

You are amazing if you can put together a blog in 15 minutes!!

Have a great week-end!

Hugs,
Barb

Hello Sue! Beautiful! I have yet to do up any vegetables, but I love doing fruit and jams. I would always do up peaches in the fall for my dad, he absolutely loved them and it was something He looked forward to. This will be the first fall that I will not can those peaches. :(

Sue, I want to thank you for your visits to my blog and leaving such tender comments, especially for my dad.
I have wanted to come and " meet" you but just haven't had the time, so now it's wonderful to connect with you.
I look forward to visiting you often.
Have a blessed day!
Joy to you! Debbie
