Pear tree lane Farmhouse

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

The not quite finished patriotic porch!

Written by Sue, Monday evening, June 15, 2015      very hot and dry, temps. 101 today

In between weeding, gathering veggies, and canning, I have been busy cleaning and decorating the porch, for Memorial Day, Flag Day, and now Independence Day ! Maybe by July 4th. I will have it finished. LOL Anyhoo...

Last weekend we had two Navy seamen visiting the farm, the one stretched out on the swing is our grandson,Will, they come every few weeks scouting, and camping out on  the hunting land. It is always nice when they come by the farmhouse for refreshments, talk, and just plain ole` porch sitting. This is how "country folks" enjoy a late summer evening, (notice Mr P already has his pj's on) ~smile~

I usually send them home with goodies,.. this trip, I made a ten layer chocolate cake,

chocolate chip cookies and some jam.Did you know that Country cookies are not uniformed, just  like us, God made each of us unique and special!

This is what I have thus far completed, I need to hang the sheers, sew the patriotic pillows, etc.

I must get those curtains up by the weekend, but folks it is so hot here 101 today 104 predicted for tomorrow, Don't think I could stay on a ladder in that kind of heat. ~smile~

I made Bread & Butter pickles today, I was so pleased with how they came out! I find it so amazing that in a matter of a few hours veggies can go from this,

To this.... I have two kinds of Bread & Butter recipes, one done the old fashioned way, the other is a recipe that my niece gave me, so delicious, quick and easy, they are called Bread and Butter freezer pickles! Oh my I was so amazed at the taste! Tomorrow I will be making sweet and dill relish, that's the plan.~grin~

That's about all for now from the farmhouse, stay tuned something is always brewing around here.
Lots of love,
Sue

Oh Sue, what a stunning porch! I could spend all day in one of those rocking chairs while enjoying a good book on a hot summers day :)

And those pickles...YUM! My son and I love Bread and Butter pickles and often I will find my little one "sneaking" into the fridge to munch on some pickles :)

Thank you so much for sharing with Roses of Inspiration - it's a joy to have you at the party. Hugs and blessings!

Your porch is a wonderfully welcoming place...although I don't imagine it sees much gathering on these 100+ degree days! Cake, cookies (chocolate chips are my favorite), and pickles are just a sampling of the lovely things that come from your kitchen and your heart, Sue!

Stay cool! (Those curtains will wait!) :D

Hugs...

WOnderful job with that great porch. I'm still waiting on mine! So glad you get to see so much of your grandson. I'll bet his friends are a little jealous. Don't worry about the Mr's jammies, I see people in the grocery store in theirs all the time! Happy summer!

I love your porch! What a wonderful place to sit and visit!

I would not want those temperatures, though we were close a few days last week and with humidity! We stayed in the pool at my parents house!

Thank you for inspiring us with your lovely porch.

Oh, I love, love your porch, so warm and inviting! I can't wait to get back to doing some decorating as it's all been on hold for about a year because of the new house construction.

Your cake, your cookies, and the pickles are so delicious looking. You always bring a smile to my face with your sweet posts.

Ms Sue, I have a question. I noticed all the beautiful ferns on your porch. I've tried to have them and then never look like yours...and the water runs from the pots and gets all over the porch railing and floor. How do you do it??? :) Do you have to water everyday?
