~To live, love, and journal our days at~

"A personal note from me to you"

I have another blog post in the making, but felt so compelled to write this one.

I joined Blogland in 2008, after seeing some bloggers in Romantic Home's magazine,  I thought, "I can do that," not realizing what a busy task it would be, but oh! how I loved it, you see when I was in grade school after reading the Weekly Reader, I wanted to have a pen pal, but for some reason never pursued it.

After joining blogland, I now had what I always wanted, not only one, but many"Pen Pals", and what great ones you all have been. During these almost seven years, I have had the privilege to watch your families grow, prayed with and for you many times, confided in you about my most personal situations, and you have always been so gracious to me! If only you knew how many times I think of you all, especially when I see something that I know you would like or be interested in, my first thought is to  run to my computer and tell you about it, you know that's what family does, we share!~smile~

I have thousands of photos on my computer of my life here at Pear Tree Lane, which is always so busy, many times I would sit down to write a post, only to remember that I had done this before, and would say to myself, "Sue, who wants to hear about the same old story of how you canned potatoes, tomatoes, and made jams?" But then I remember, that know matter what you might post, that I never tire of reading about your days, because we"re friends, and it is one way that we stay connected, and now we  have become  family, aren't we!

You see, my blog is not a decorating blog, though I love to read them, my blog is about "Everyday Living", which might include, sharing my "Faith", some decorating, recipes, farm animals, gardening, and family, which is so important!

Love these navy boys, they came for another visit this weekend, camping in the back fields, but they always stop by to sit, talk on the porch, and have refreshments with Papa, and Maw Maw!  Do you think they took home any goodies?
I believe I blogged about this a few weeks ago, too! LOL
Have you had the opportunity lately, to thank a military personal  for their service to our country? When I think of all the hoopla, and millions of dollars that movie stars and sports figures get for entertaining, and these guys get just above minimum wages my feathers get ruffled!
"Our adopted grandson", or has he adopted us!

Do you think they went home with any goodies?

To those who have wanted to write more often about your days and were hesitant, I say, "GO for it", I am interested though I get so busy at times, especially in the summer, please remember I care.

Well, that's about all from the farmhouse for today, please stop by anytime, the door is always open!

Hi Sue ~I enjoyed your sharing when and how you blog. We all have our own story, but how similar they all are. I started blogging in 2007 mainly to share my watercolors as my friends encouraged me to do. Then I became so much more, my daily life. The good, the bad and the ugly. In 2009 I had a breast cancer journey and all my blog friends were unbelievable and such a support group.

I try to blog every day, and mine are simple...I love to cook and bake so food is a big item on my blog. Your cookies looked wonderful.

So I agree wholeheartedly.....blog...blog ...blog...we are all in the same boat...HaHa. Love and Hugs

Vee July 13, 2015 at 8:57 PM

John has one granddaughter still in the Navy. She is the only military person I know right now. Let me thank your grandson and his friend for serving. It can be a thankless job and yet where would we be without our wonderful men and women in uniform?! I did not wonder if those boys got some snacks. That's a given!

I'm in total agreement with you. I am interested in many different things and go in lots of directions...my blog is never going to be a big one and I wouldn't have the energy if it were. Blogging provides an outlet for me similar to that of having a penpal only better. Plus I learn so much! It's like going to school in a good way.

Sue, you are a real sweetheart. How fun to have those "boys" visit so they can get some good food for a change. Glad you shared these thoughts. Have a wonderful week!

Cheryl @ TFD July 13, 2015 at 9:26 PM

Hi Sue, I've always enjoyed reading your posts. In fact, your blog is one of my favorites! You are always so gracious and just the kind of person we all enjoy having as a friend.

I know those young men enjoyed their snacks and I'll wager a pan of cookies that they took something home with them! :) I am grateful to them for their service to our country. God bless them!

My last post was about porches and I linked to you. As I said in the post, you have one of the most beautiful porches I've seen!

Have a nice week!

Good morning! I can soo identify with this post! Not very surprising as we are soo definitely kindred spirits. I have been so surprised and blessed at those I have found here in blogland. You are all in my thoughts and prayers, and on my mind way more often then you might think. I do feel like all of my posts are alike....family, grandkids, and sewing, and some about my faith and dreams. But like you it's just my everyday life. it's what I do, it's what I feel, and it's quite ordinary. I am amazed anyone at all is EVER interested, lol. I LOVE your blog and I have from the first moment I ever stumbled upon it sooo many years ago now. I get the same moment of excitement when I look on my side bar and see that you have posted! I sooo look forward to hearing about what you are up to. I do love hearing about your grandson and the others who come to stay with you at your place! How grateful I am to them and to YOU for showing them such love and a quiet peaceful place to regroup and refresh themselves. Hope you have a GOOD week sweet friend! Many blessings to you!

Cheryl July 14, 2015 at 9:35 AM

Absolutely! Blog friends are just that...friends! And we all want to hear about your sweet grandson and his friends who came for a visit and what you have in the canner today and see pics of the baby lambs or donkey born on the farm and read updates about your dear mom...because we're friends!!

Big hugs to you...

A lovely post as always. My blog is just about my every day life too as you know. : )
My husband was in the Navy for 20 years. I bought him a 'brick' that was placed in a veterans memorial in town. : ) I thank him often. I bought bricks for my dad, step-dad and father in law too as a way of saying thanks.

Christine July 14, 2015 at 12:54 PM

Oh Sue! I love how you shared your heart.
My funny, little blog, is just that... a funny, little blog.
No fluff, advertising, gimmicks or fan fare.
JUST ME, as I am.

I enjoy reading blogs about everyday life. For me, it's like traveling across this wonderful country, stopping in on friends and visiting places and people I couldn't do other wise. It's a blessing to seeing families and celebrations, and gardens. If a family secret recipes is shared, well that is a special treat. I think peeking in on their kitchens or living rooms, is a bonus.
What I really enjoy is sharing our same faith and glorifying our God together!

Keep being our Pen Pal because I always look forward to visiting, The Farm!!

I never tire of your posts and I don't ever notice if it's a repeat, that's how life generally goes anyway. Blogland has been a great ay to meet friends, and as friends we share the everyday and sometimes what's on our mind.
My husband was in the military for over 20 years so I was particularly blessed to see you sharing your hospitality with these gentlemen (I know they appreciate it)

Mrs.Rabe July 14, 2015 at 3:35 PM

I love reading about my friends' day, what is happening in their lives, who came to visit etc.

It is a ministry to offer hospitality, encouragement, and homemade goodies to these young men. So thankful for them!

Thank You Sue for being my blog friend for so long.
Love hearing about your mother and family and adding you all to my prayer list.

Well this just summed it up exactly, as you can do so well. This is what blogging is for me also. I don't make money on it and I never intended to, I share life! Sometimes life is hard and sometimes it is full of joy, but blogland has lifted me up more times than I can express and those friendships, like yours, have guided me to the source of true strength, the Lord. Oh yes, military, my son-in-law served and we are very thankful. Have a blessed day...love you.

This is what having a blog is all about indeed - being pen pals.. I love all the pen pal's I've gotten to know -- super coolish people out there indeed. And you are one of them!! I look forward to seeing all you want to share and I never tired of any of it.. Thanks for all your kindness in keeping in touch with me...Hugs

Rebecca July 15, 2015 at 7:24 PM

I actually DO come "visit" far more times than I comment...

That cookie jar reminds me of my grandmother's. Actually, she usually had 2 or 3 sitting out on a shelf in the garage - especially in winter when they could stay cool and fresh. I'd give ANythiNG for one of her cookies and time spent in her company!

Nora @ Teacup Tales July 16, 2015 at 12:08 AM

As a new blogger I really appreciate your advice in this post. I started blogging to share an interest and meet other kindred spirits, but more and more my "real life" is being captured in my posts. Not that it's very exciting, but it is authentic. Thank you for validating this and I look forward to exploring your wonderful blog.

Oh, I think your blog is a most enjoyable, informative and inspiring place! Always a fun visit! Keep on girlfriend! :)

living from glory to glory July 28, 2015 at 9:31 AM

Good Morning, just getting caught up on your last few posts! Yes, my blog is the very same in many ways, A bit of teaching, but encouragement to my sweet friends and strangers. Your blog feels like home to me and I love everything about it! I always want to hear about what you are up to! And yes, it does feel like we have many pen pals. It is hard to make time to comment always, but I love and think of you and your family often!
After all, we are homemakers and this is what we know about and love...
I believe it is the small things that bring me the greatest joy!
Hugs, Roxy
PS After reading all the comments you have to know we love you and what you write about...

Sharing thoughts from my heart with you,

The farmer and his friends
Thank you so much for coming by, please come and visit anytime.

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

The phrase "There's no place like home", is so true.

No matter where I go, I always love turning the key and hearing that clicking sound in the lock of our back door . Even if I have only gone shopping, I am so happy to be home.

Did you know that every home has its own scent, the first thing I do is sniff the air, and I offer a quiet prayer of thankfulness, and for safety.

My decorating style is my own, I decorate with the colors and treasures that are me. One of the things that I have enjoyed about blogging is the difference in how we all view the world, and our homes. Just like our Creator made each of us to be unique, we create our own unique styles and colors in our own homes. I have learned so much from you and enjoyed your homes so much, and have learned so much about you from your homes...

I truly believe that God wants us to have a safe haven to come home too, a place we can claim as our own,... just like us, homes come in all shapes and sizes if love is there it is our home.., if our things are there it is our home. When we add our own personal touches, it is our home

Home is a place we can go to when the storms of life are raging. I often listen to the wind and rain when it is coming down hard and am reminded of the safety of our sheltering home. It is the one place that we control what and who comes in, (well, most of the time. lol)

Sometimes late at night, when I am unable to sleep I will get up and as I am walking across the room, I hear the floor creek beneath my feet, I go, sit, and listen to other sounds that my home makes, a pop here and there in the wall, it is like the wall is talking to me. A home not only has its own scent, but it also has its own sound. I truly believe that a home takes on its own personality, US!!

So why this blog?....
I wanted a place that I could come, talk about, and share of how my day was spent here at the "farmhouse", and about the things that I do to make it a "home". Making a house a home is a lifetime endever, and I might add a joy, as our lives are always changing.
