Pear tree lane Farmhouse

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

~Just an ordinary day, at the farm~

Written by Sue, Wednesday, October 18, 2017       Sunny, cool, temps. 60,s beautiful fall day.

We are finally getting some much needed and wanted fall weather, I woke in the middle of the night slightly chilly, and remarked to Mr P, that I certainly would be adding more covers, today, so I snuggled closer to him, he is like a heater, me, I am an iceberg, cold feet and all!~smile~

Today, I will be picking my green beans, and canning them. It is 11:AM, and I have yet to pick them., as I am busy trying to write this post., and waiting for it to warm.

Other things today at the farm, Dh took some sheep to the market, always bitter sweet, the cash is good, but I know where most will end up, with some going to farmer's home.

I thought I would show you some of the prettiest hostess gifts, I received from friends at our Happy Fall Ya"ll get together.  I have the sweetest and nicest friends, always so thoughtful!

What type of hostess gifts do you give? Some times I dress my jams, and jellies in pretties,

I also give baked goodies, I might give some hand lotion or candle from BBW!Most of the time it is handmade.

My friend Trish, gave me this beautiful mum, with an angel tucked in, Mr Belvedere, the butler, says this is a little much for him. Don't worry Mr B, I just wanted you to hold it for my photo!

My friend, Vicky, gave me the very pretty sugar and creamer set, just love the colors, Mary Jo gave me some Mary Kay hand lotions, the pepper jelly from my friend Julie, the hand soap was from Susan.

UPDATE:
So what is on your counter this fine fall afternoon?

I did get the beans picked, snapped and canned, it took 2hrs from bush to counter!

I'm also dehydrating cayenne peppers! Should e ready tomorrow!
I have a baked herb chicken in the oven, steamed broccoli, green beans, of course, and a salad.

Hope your day was filled with many blessings!

Love from the farmhouse.
Sue

Hi Sue, Girl you put me to shame with all that you do. Of course, part of my problem is that going to the gym, walking, etc etc eats up my days. On my island right now I have a table runner with some harvest decorations as well as a towel that I will spread out before I spray adhesive on my batting and place mats, a book I need to finish by Friday and return to the library. I was hoping to sew but the workout took my energy. I love the gifts you received-such thoughtful friends. Of course, not surprise-because you are so thoughtful. Just wish you lived closer. Loved the sheep picture; I would have a hard time sending them to market-but that is what farmers do.
Have a great Thursday.
Hugs,
Noreen

Hi Sue!

Love your post today...very fall-ish! It's so hard to sell farm animals! We just had two steers butchered, it was so hard...and harder as I get older. I hope I can eat them.

I love that you are just canning beans, our have been long gone for weeks, butthey sure are delicious. I have never grown cayenne peppers, I'll bet they are wonderful dehydrated, yum, I love all things spicy!

You do have wonderful friends! I just love the sugar and cream set, so beautiful, as are all the other gifts. The mums are just gorgeous!

Have a wonderful week, Sue!

Hugs and Love,
Barb

I am loving this fall weather too! I have been waiting for it!

I love to give hostess gifts and to receive them . . . handmade soaps (not made by me, made by a talented friend), home canned jams and chutneys, and candles. Really, anything is welcomed because it is an expression of thanks and love.

Your new sugar and creamer is beautiful!!

Sleep well, friend, after this busy and productive day!

What a busy and productive day you had. Our green beans were done long ago and ended up in the freezer. It's so nice to have produce on hand to add to meals.
Your friends gave you lovely gifts.

You have made me hungry! My late mother loved green beans better than anything! I like to give jams/jellies as hostess gifts. I know you will rest well tonight - you've had a full day.

I always like stopping by here and seeing what's going on at your farm. We just got home from family time in Northeastern Washington and I'm looking forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight and waking up to a good cup of coffee tomorrow morning, Lord willing. Your jars of beans look wonderful. Hope you have a good weekend!

Yes, we are finally getting our fall too and I am so excited! There is such beautiful simplicity in Mason jars full of home grown produce. I wish I would have followed my mom's example and learned to can. Oh I'm sure I can learn how and I actually plan to when we move to the country and have a garden. I have to admit I kept scrolling down into your blog and have been admiring your beautiful home and fall decorations! I am in LOVE with your dining room. I really like your style and it is very close to mine. My blog is my way of having a creative outlet for my photos and just sharing what's on my heart. I am not into the blogs that are just about keeping up with the latest trend. Have a wonderful weekend!

Hi Sue!
It's been way to long since I've visited The Farm!
Ahhh... the goats. It is sad but part of being on The Farm.

Your friends are so generous. But that Polish Pottery is something that I always fall for.

Have a great weekend!

You've been busy, and those green beans look great. I picked some from my fall bushes, but not enough to do some canning, so I froze them. Such pretty gifts too!

You received such thoughtful gifts, Sue! Your friends know you so well. I love to to give homemade gifts, too. I think people always appreciate them. My hands and feet are always cold, too, and I used to love to snuggle with my late beloved, who was like a heater, like your hubby.

Golly it took me a few minutes to read that and you picked beans and canned them in the meantime! I knew that you are a busy, busy lady. This reminds me that I have cookies to bake for a housewarming gift in time for tomorrow. Better get cracking.
