~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

~Fall decorating and storm damage!

Rewritten by Sue, Wednesday, October1, 2018           sunny, very warm , humid still, 80''s
Before the hurricane came I felt the need to do some nesting, so I cleaned the house and  finished my autumn decorating, which I had started a few weeks ago tweaking a little here and a little there.

It wasn't easy for me to start decorating as we have had the most extreme heat since May, usually by now we have cool mornings, warming during the day and then cooling in the evening. I have always  associated fall with the beginning of the new school year, as the leaves begin to change from green to yellow, brown, red, and burgundy, and cooler temps.

I love fall, it is my favorite season, with Christmas being my favorite holiday! I love that they come so close together, as it is easy for me to transition from one to the other.
I also enjoy the led timer lights, so nice to come home too in the evenings.

Just another visitor to the farmhouse, he has certainly made himself at home, "please, make yourself at home," which is one of our number one phrases around here.
I love the cozy feeling of candles, more timed led lights.
Lots of secrets shared here at the fall farmhouse, "I believe she loves us best."
This is my thanksgiving tree, it has timed led lights too!
a few touches on the kitchen counter

I enjoyed sharing a few of my fall decorations, with more to share later. This post was written before Florence came, and has since been edited.
~Storm update~
*************************************************************************
We are all safe, including the animals, with the turkeys only losing a few feathers, what a sight. Florence came and certainly made her presence known, we have been busy cleaning up her mess, and what a mess she made.

With all the water around mosquitoes have really been a problem., a BIG problem.
 We lost a few trees,
We lost power for a few days, I really learned a lot about persevering and ingenuity, made quite an impression on my family. ~wink~
Lots of rain, (over 15 inches)  we are so blessed to not have the flooding as so many in our state had, losing everything. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you so much for praying, it meant so much to us. God is and has always been so faithful!
love,
Sue

Sue, you have been in my thoughts and prayers. Did you have to evacuate? I am so glad that the damage is not extensive. Let's hope that we don't have any more hurricanes soon!

Our area had some flooding (not us personally), down trees, etc but nothing devastating.

I'm so glad to see that you are ok! xo

Hello Sue,
I'm glad to hear from you. The storm damage will take time to clean up, no doubt, and I'm glad it wasn't more serious. Your fall decor is cute - I love LED lights, too.

What a mess to clean up, but it could indeed have been far worse. Praising God for His watchcare over you.

Your fall decor is so cute. I especially like the two dolls with acorn hats sharing a secret with one another.

Morning Sue,
So good to see you post, I was wondering what happened to you!! lol
So sorry you got hit by the storm, but so happy to hear you had no flooding, and we know
what it is like with that yard clean up, as we went thru Hurricane Charlie and 2 others storms all within weeks of one another about 14 yrs. ago. We had no damage to the house but our yard was a mess, it looked like a bomb went off, because we had a tornado touch down right next to our house with a lot full of pine trees, so all those pine tree tops were in our back yard and took a long time to clean up,course, we were grateful it was the pine trees and not our house that got hit by the tornado so hope your yard wasn't too badly damaged. Will be praying for yall as you continue your clean up.

One of the worst part about most storms is the loss of power, I don't mind washing dishes by hand or sweeping or living by candles light, or even the cold showers... it is the lack of A/C in such intense heat. and yes, you do have to be very creative and persevering for sure.

All your Fall decorations are very pretty and Fall is my favorite time of the year as well,
even tho it doesn't seem like Fall very much.....the last few evenings we have gone bike
riding and the breeze was cool now, so we are a least getting a hint that it is coming soon
hopefully. Fall for us also holds birthdays and our Anniversary and Thanksgiving of course, so many fun things going on in the Fall, so whats not to love.......

You take care hon, and be careful not to overdue it, that debri is not going anywhere on
it's own....if you know what I mean. Hope you are feeling fine as well.

Love and Blessings, Nellie

So glad you are OK after the storm. I was thinking about you when I heard of that terrible storm coming. So good to hear from you back in August. Time is going by quickly and Mary is growing so fast. Just went clothes shopping for her. She is growing out of everything. :)
