Pear tree lane Farmhouse

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

Thankful Thursday

These are the two angels who prayed for us,aren't they adorable?

What a busy and unusual week this has been, it also has been a faith affirming week.
I am thankful today for family and friends, that will take the time to encourage and pray with me over different circumstances that happen to be going on in my life.

You see, Tuesday we lost one of our brood cows who was four weeks away from delivery, it is a very hard thing to see one of your animals sick and not be able to make them well, especially when you do all that you know to do to help them. Even the Vet. could not save her.

The next night while sleeping in a safe bed, someone walks onto our property, from behind a locked gate, and steals our very special dog, Maggie. She was only four months old, and was one of the sweetest dogs we have ever had. Our hearts are broken, she was my dear husbands pal. When he drove the farm truck, she was with him.

Last evening I was sitting with dh and we were still grieving over our losses this week, the telephone rings. Daughter, Susan was calling as she does each evening, and you know how it is when you hear the voice on the other end of the telephone, if you are crying softly, you will begin to sob, and that is what I did.

She lives over two thousand miles away, so she could not jump in her car and run over to give comfort. The granddaughters were sitting beside her and heard of our sorrow, and wanted to talk.

After finding out the details through my sobs, they asked if they could pray for us.You should have heard those heartfelt prayers. Their Papa and Grandma needed some encouragement. Susan and both girls prayed, We were immediately comforted, and touched by their prayers.

What we found so amazing was that they each prayed not only for us, but for the thieves also. I had not prayed for them, because of being so hurt, and angry. But was reminded of what Jesus taught us in Matthew 5: 44,45~"But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,... "that you my be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
I also got a call from my dear Mother and sister, Mary who are also praying.

And now dear friends I ask for your prayers as well, not only for us, but for the ones who did this. I am asking God to touch their hearts and to set them free. I am also asking the Lord to make them so unhappy that they will bring Maggie home.

I try and make my blog happy, but if I am going to journal about my life, then I have to up front and honest about everything. Thank you for taking the time to read, and pray.

Blessings and hugs,
Sue

Friday Meanderings!

Good morning everyone,
And what is on my mind today?.... When I came downstairs this morning I was greeted by this glorious sunshine outside and this beautiful cactus blooming in our foyer.

I am so happy that my Thanksgiving cactus is blooming again. God is so good to me, He has given beauty for me to enjoy inside as well. Psalms 37:4~ says ....Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. He knows I really love flowers, and there are not to many plants blooming here on the farm right now.

However, I have not forgot about those daffodils looking back at me every time I am at the kitchen sink. Goodness knows we girls spend a lot of time at our sinks.Talk about temptation.Hmmm!!! Now where did I put my clippers?

I happy to report that I have finally finished spring cleaning downstairs. Yea!! ...I didn't post yesterday because I knew once I got online I probably would stay a while, actually stay to long, and not get my work done. It seems I have yet to learn moderation in all things.LOL I did get to visit last night..

For today, I will do laundry and some light work. I think since the sun is so bright and warm this morning, I will now go for my walk, hope your day is filled with many blessings.
Hugs,
Sue

Good Morning everyone, Psalm 118:24 says This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoie and be glad in it.
Today we woke to beautiful sunshine and warm temps. promised, my husband called me to come and bring my camera. He said that
outside our front door were these crows with an egg that was to be their breakfast today. It seems one of our mallards couldn't make it to her nest. Watching God's creations is one of the most rewarding things, they teach us so many lessons.

This was so funny, I took more pics.

Yesterday was one of those days where planning just wasn't going to happen. So I went with the flow, and had a wonderful day. Thus the verse I have chosen today. God makes each and everyday, and we are to rejoice and be glad.

I walked and exercised, and then decided to get my camera and take some photos as there is always something interesting going on, we worked in our garden preparing it for planting.

The one thing that was a surety, was our Tuesday night date, we went to our favorite restaurant for dinner and spent some time talking about of all things, the farm and what we are going to plant. LOL

Hope you had a very blessed day, and that today will be filled with many more blessings.
Hugs,
Sue

Farmhouse goings on!

I looked out my kitchen window yesterday, and saw these little peepers, my first thought was to run out and cut a bouquet, but I stopped in my tracks, and here is what I thought" if I cut them I want have any color in my yard." hmmm!!
What did I do? I am still mulling over it. lol But for today here is a flower just for you, enjoy.

I bet you don't do silly things like this, being the busy body that I am I decide I would pick some dead leaves off of my plant and when I did a whole root section came out, dirt and all. Keep in mind this is a room, that I had just finished spring cleaning. ugh!, Now if I had taken the time to get some clippers, this would not have happened. Number one lesson this week.!

All in all I had a very productive day, and I just looove days like that, did a lot of laundry, put house back in order from the weekend.

All rooms downstairs are spring cleaned except our bedroom. Why so slow you might ask, It seems we have a lot of irons in the fire is my only defense. Are you buying it? LOL

Today I will be working on some projects, such as helping Dear One work on our porch,(weather permitting).. We are having to take all of the old caulking out of the banisters and recaulk. This is a big job, as it seems when we built the wrong caulking was put in.
So how is your day going?
Hugs,
Sue

And this is how my day went

Can you guess where I went today? I had not been to my hairdressers in a few months. I was long over due for a haircut. Earlier this week I mentioned to Mr P. That I needed a hair cut, his response was "sure, call and get you an appointment."

And I did, last night I mentioned to him that I had an appointment today, his response was"I really like your hair the length it is. but do what you want to", I am thinking "what"and here I have this appointment, now I am confused should I cut it or not?"lol

I decided to go and just have a trim. And you know how that goes.lol My hair dresser said it was real heavy and I really needed it cut, and she did. I must say I was so pleased, when I got home and Mr P. came in his response was "my your hair really looks great, you look ten years younger." And they say women can't make up their minds. lol

Afterwards I decided to go and do some window shopping, actually I had a fifty dollar gift card from Kirklands, and I really wanted to see what new spring stuff had come in. I looked and looked , but just could not make up my mind, so I left empty handed. I wasn't disappointed because I knew they would be getting more new things in.
I then went to the grocery store, because I already was in town. I really do not like to shop for groceries on Friday, way to busy for me. But because of getting my hair done today, I decided to make one trip.

While there they had freshly baked chicken on sale with $3.00 off, there was no way I was going to pass this up. I bought two thinking I would freeze one, and we would have some of the other for dinner.

After I totaled the cost, that is with making 5 or 6 meals, that the cost per meal would be about $1.35, pretty good deal I think.

I came home and after putting groceries up,went to the pantry got a jar of garden peas and yellow squash out. You either love or hate yellow squash, and we just happen to love them.

I really am thankful for being able to grow, and preserve our vegetables. It is work in the summer, but in the fall and winter you can put a meal together real quick. And one that is delicious too, I must say Mr P. enjoyed his meal.

All and all today was a refreshing break for me, as I haven't taken to much time off lately. God is always so gracious to me, and I am so thankful to Him for all of my blessings.

And this is how my day went, now how was your day? I hope it was filled with many blessings too.
Hugs,
Sue
