~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

Sue~

Hello everyone  it has been a while since I posted, so much has happened that it would  fill a book. So I will begin by telling what my day today was like,,,,,,
But first let me go back to last evening........ while we were walking through the garage  both of us  smelled this foul odor. You see I have two freezers in there and we both new that one had knocked off. One was off but not broken, it had been accidentally unplugged.

I have this microwave sitting on a shelf next to the freezer, just for the family to use when they come home, and it stays unplugged until such time . Our daughter and her family have been here this summer and she was getting ready to leave Monday, as usual we were running late, she put something in the microwave oven, and being the dutiful daughter  she wanted to unplug it, but accidentally unplugged the freezer. We didn't find it until last evening, so today I cleaned the freezer out. We were just given 10lbs. of fresh flounder last week by a friend. You can imagine the smell. LOL Luckily I didn't have the majority of our fruits and veggies in there. We don't plan to tell her, because she would feel so bad.

After washing and letting it sun outside today, it still has that fishy odor, so I have decided to try vinegar for a few days.

But I have been busy making apple butter and apple juice, and inside my house has had a different smell, the smell of cloves , cinnamon and allspice simmering with apples, oh! such a wonderful fragrance. Our apples are so plentiful this year, while last year not one apple was on our trees. So I will take advantage of this abundance this year to which I am so thankful to God for this harvest!

Apples remind me of harvest time and I am so looking forward to the changing of the seasons. How about you are you looking forward to fall?
Hugs,
Sue

Hi Sue,
I was so happy to see a new post from you on my sidebar this morning. Glad to know that you are doing well and keeping busy.
Now, your freezer problem just plain stinks. In more ways than one :). You are so sweet not to mention it to your daughter. I am sure she would feel bad. I hope you are able to get the odor out.
I am imagining that the inside of your house smells so heavenly. I am with you in being ready for fall to arrive. I'm ready to go outside and breathe fresh, crisp air. You new blog look is lovely.
Have a wonderful weekend.

I can think of no job worse that a freezer that has been turned off...in the heat of summer...but filled with fish!! Oh you poor dear.
I am so glad you are back, I do enjoy your posts.
All of your apple everything just sounds so yummy and if it were a bit cooler I think I would enjoy the nice fall smell. We will have 100 degree days until the end of September now. I wonder why it feels hotter at the end of August when it is 100 degrees than in June.
Your new background looks really nice too.
Thanks for coming by for a visit, I am glad I made you laugh. I laughed so much at everyone's comments that is was worth the time in the chicken coop.
Blessings to you today,
Love
Kim

How wonderful that you get to use your apples this way with making apple butter and juice. I am also looking forward to fall, and visiting you has actually inspired me to make a dish with apples. Actually, I think I just might try to make my very first apple pie. If you have a fool-proof recipe, I would love for you to share it. (I figure if you can make apple butter, you've probably made an apple pie or two at some point.) :D

Sweet blessings!
