Pear tree lane Farmhouse

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

~We've got company~

Written by Sue, Friday, July 20th, 2012              very hot, humid, thundershowers. 98 temps.
Guess who is sleeping upstairs in this bed?
Is it a bird?.... No
Is it a plane?... No
Is it superman? No
Okay! do you give up?
It's granddaughter#2, Miss M!!
We picked Miss M up yesterday and she is going to be here until Aug.6! She hasn't been here to visit in a while, she couldn't wait to get out on the farm. Late yesterday evening, before she came in she had hand fed all of the animals went fishing, caught some cat fish, brim, and bass. We stayed up way past midnight talking, and making plans. After her shower last night she had put on this wonderful lotion It smelled so wonderful, so guess who borrowed some after she had showered, yep! moi!and it is now on my shopping list. It is called Daisey, by Marc Jacobs! Isn't it nice to borrow stuff!

DH and I have decided that even though the house is in the process of being packed up, repaired from the water damage,
and given a new face lift,  we are going to take the time to make some memories(that includes packing together, to which she has already offered,Now if I can just wake her up from that beauty sleep lol). We both feel honored that a 19 year old would want to hang out with us old folks, lol! BTW I would only let my "best of friends" see my home in disarray like this. So "best friends" here is only part of this disarray. I also only let my "best friends" help pack too!~giggle~

The adjuster decided the water damage was so that all of the downstairs needed to be sanded, stained and refinished, thus getting estimates, packing and moving everything out is where we are at now. I am looking at weeks on end., as we have decided to paint while the furniture is out of the house.
And now choosing colors, decisions! decisions!
Here is some not so good news.....

You all have met my mom, Doris haven't you? Here she is bringing supper over to us Monday evening. She is so giving and does so many things for so many people, works at a dress boutique 3 days a week, and will be 85 her next birthday!
When she got home from work yesterday she found that someone had broke into her home, stole her TV, and jewelry. My mom lives in a very upscale neighborhood with security gates, and has an alarm system. And no one saw nor heard anything, or at least they would not tell!Go figure!!
Ephesians 4:28! He who has been stealing must still no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need. .. POWERFUL!!

My brother lives in her neighborhood, so she spent the night with him, I called to check on her this morning, she was back at her home sweeping up glass and waiting for the repair man. I asked how she was doing her reply was "I am fine". So when Miss M gets up we are going to go and see just how fine she is! Please pray for her, and the one who stole, that he will make things right!
Be blessed today
 "best friends"

Thank you to  all who stopped by and for those who left sweet notes at Vee's Note Card party.

My prayer is to be able to say like the Apostle Paul said. in Philippians 4:12... I have learned the secret of being content in any situation....Philippians  4:12~......

Since most of us are under a heat wave, I thought I might cool things down for all of us. These photos were taken  Christmas 2010, which is a rarity here in the South. Granddaughter Katie's birthday is on Dec. 26, her prayer and wish was to have snow! There is not enough words to describe her excitement when it began to snow! Never under estimate  the prayer of a child. She didn't just pray for snow, she believed it was going to snow. A lesson for us adults!
My note cards for July are  called.....
~Snow days at the farm~

There! now, are you feeling a bit cooler, I know I am. Seasons come and go but one thing for sure, our Lord remains steadfast! Hebrews 13:8~ Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and  today, and forever.
Stay cool,
Sue

~One down and many to go~

Written by Sue, Wednesday,July 11, 2012                      cloudy, rain, humid & muggy, temps. high 80's
A few weeks ago, dh and I thought we would complete some projects we had been working on, it seems we were working forever, one was the fenced in garden beside the house.

This is a projects we started last year, and before we could complete it we found ourselves going to several other projects! I bet you don't do things like this, now do you?
I am happy to report that we have finally finished it, but we have been so busy with other projects that we haven't taken much time to plant. I do have some tomatoes, peppers, squash, eggplant, and cukes here. Did I just say we haven't planted, well, it sure sounds like we did. I think what I meant was we didn't fill the garden up, There, now that sounds better.

After we  disassembled the fence, scrape, painted it, and put back in place, we then repaired the beds as best as we could ,and filled them with new soil. We wanted to remove the old beds and raise them ,but our budget wouldn't let us, maybe next year, just maybe.~grin~
The next task was the most tiring, we laid plastic lining in walkway, and ordered, 2 tons,(now lets do some math here, that equals 4,000 lbs.) of peat rock, to which they dumped in the driveway. Now how do you suppose it got from the driveway to here.

 hmmmm! let's see....

This is the strongest, smartest, and sweetest man in the whole world! I do treasure his love and friendship. He hauled the rocks, I spread them with a shovel and rake! Really!!! I did, I pinky promise, all this was done when we were having record breaking temps. needless to say we were a little tired, Lucy was just as tired as she was supervising!
Excuse me while I take a bow! ~smile~

We worked until the sun went down and the  moon was visible, and I might add beautiful!
Here is the end result of a lot of toil and sweat! As you can see the beds are only partially filled with plants, that's okay, we plan to plant a fall crop. This truly was a labor of love!
We have other projects completed that I will show soon, but have had to put other planned projects on hold, due to the mishap with the leak in our wall. It seems that all of our downstairs' wood floors have got to be sanded, and refinished, this means emptying and packing most of our things downstairs. We bought boxes yesterday and have started packing.

Thank you so much for stopping by for a visit, and for taking the time to leave me such sweet notes.
Blessings,
Sue
Psalms 90:17~ Let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands for us; yes, establish the work of our hands.

After the storm...

Written by Sue, Tuesday, July 3, 2012                         Hot! Hot! and very hot! temps. 100
Sunday afternoon, lots of wind, hail, and rain,  we are truly thankful that we, our animal friends, and home  are safe.

Poor Hibiscus, I hope she makes it...

However, some of our trees and landscape didn't survive, we lost 5 of our Bradford pear trees..

 surveying the damage....

The sheep waiting to go out to pasture, and so glad the storm is over,of course there has to always be one who is out. Truth is Tulip is waiting for her bottle.
Lucy going with me to survey the damage, here she is taking the time to let the horses know who is boss. Rainy just looks at her and goes back to eating.

Bradford pears are known for splitting...
Mr P., a neighbor, and I got busy cleaning, they cut and moved the trees

"Thanks hon, can't stop now, I will take it on the run". Dh takes every thing in stride and  always has  a smile. I am blessed beyond words.
And away we go...

My job was to pick up debris, rake, and try to get the flower beds back to normal
She survived!! a little battle worn, but still glowing!
 I think I did  a pretty good job, Don't you? ~grinning~

Psalms 30:5~......Weeping may endure for the night, but Joy comes in the morning.  I took this photo this morning,  I also think Mr. P did a fantastic job, we have a few more days of work, and hopefully some normalcy will resume. Hmmm! what is that?

Storms of life will always come our way, our problems here at the farm are so minute compared to what so many are facing, but one thing for sure, Our God is always so faithful.Deuteronomy 7:9~Know therefore that the Lord thy God, He is God which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love Him and keep His commandments to a thousand generation; Whatever you are facing please know that God loves you, cares for you and He is faithful, Always!!

Wishing you a most blessed and happy July 4th,celebration!
Blessings,
Sue
