Pear tree lane Farmhouse

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

Simple pleasures

Written by Sue, Sunday, August 19, 2018        hot, humid, scattered showers.

Grandson Will, who serves our country in The Navy, sent me some sunflower seeds earlier this summer, and this is the results, He loves gardening like we do. I love sunflowers, they always make me smile, because they are smiling.

Not a lot going on around the farmhouse this week, to hot to be outside, nothing like ironing to set things back to normal. I love the smell of laundred and freshly ironed clothes.
..
I recently received some lovely, thoughtful, get well and birthday cards from family and friends, near and far. One card was from my blogging friend, Vee, she blogs at https://ahavenforvee.blogspot.com, we have been  friends for a long time. The cards arrived at just the right time. I was so uplifted.

I also received a handmade notecard from my new friend, Gina , who blogs at http://www.withtwigsandbranches.com, she is so gifted. Don't you just love meeting and making new friends. One of the reason I enjoy blogging. I loved it so much I framed it, though not quite satisfied with the frame, I am thinking maybe black.

Speaking of watermelon, we have been enjoying the last of the season's melons, nothing like home grown. Yummy, so sweet and juicy

To all of you precious Ones who prayed and wrote such comforting thoughts, on our loss of Jack I thank you with all my heart, I am so touched with your thoughtfulness. Friends are one of the greatest gifts from our heavenly Father.
Love,
Sue

Sue, I too love sunflowers! I have tried growing them before but the squirrels have other plans for them. Sunflowers are such cheerful flowers!

I am so pleased that you like your watermelon card. That frame is pretty.

Have a lovely Sunday evening!

Sue, your sunflowers are beautiful! I love seeing the mass of them in your garden. What a thoughtful gift from your grandson. The heat and humidity certainly makes for productive times inside. Your freshly ironed clothes make me smile. How wonderful to have a watermelon patch! It's one of my favorite summer treats. ♥

Those sunflowers are beautiful and great reminders of Will. What a sweet and thoughtful grandson he is. I'd sure like to be able to sit on your porch eating watermelon. I have just finished mine and it seemed to lack flavor. Seedless. I think the seeds make for better ones.

Evening Sue,
Lovely post............just lovvvvvvvvvvve those Sunflowers, so beautiful and you can't
help but smile just as you said. So glad you felt so uplifted by all the comments, cards
and prayers. I don't iron as much as I used to cause we use a steamer and that works for
most things, but every once in awhile I like to iron, now I usually iron napkins, and
years ago one of my daughters suitors asked me why I ironed them, and I said so they don't look like a wrinkled mess....and he just laughed....guess he thought doesn't get more simple
than that......lol

That watermelon sure looks good.....wishing I had some right now....lol

Blessings hon,
Nellie

Your sunflowers are so cheerful and pretty!

And what lovely cards you received! Vee is a good friend and I was blessed to meet her in person about a month ago. A delightful time!

Some years ago I was blessed to win one of Gina's giveaways and was the recipient of some of her creativity. I won a beautiful journal she had made -- almost too pretty to use!

So sorry to hear about the loss of your dog Jack. Thankfully we know the God of all comfort.
