Pear tree lane Farmhouse

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

Written by Sue, March 5, 2020       Rain,  temps. 50, rather nice.

Taken a walk in the rain?
I did today, actually I was showered with two things, raindrops from above and flower petals from the pear trees, Once they bloom they shed their flowers and the leaves spring forth.Mr P. and I went to feed the animals this morning, as we were finishing it started to rain, I decided since it was not so cold, I would grab my umbrella and walk, it was so refreshing, Do you remember the song, " Raindrops keep falling on my head."

He decided to hop on the lawn tractor with the sweeper hooked up and start his winter clean-up, he soon quit, I kept walking.

I'm always so thankful when I finish my goal, my daily goal is 10,000 steps five days a week, I am writing this late in the aft. I have walked 11,306!

Afterward we went out to lunch and then to the grocery store, have I mentioned before that I love to go grocery shopping, I am so thankful, that I live in a country where there is so much bounty available to us. I am always looking for new products I found this tea, tried it, enjoyed it.

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻
Yesterday Susan took dh and I to his therapy session, and then out to lunch, it was so nice to have some time with her. My Mother had called and asked if we could stop by afterwards, she had some collards for us, when we arrived she not only had collards cooked she had prepared a full meal for dinner,  chicken strips, rice seasoned with chicken stock, potato salad, and collards, enough for all of us.

My mother and Susan

She always waits on the porch, waves goodby, until we are out of sight,  She is so proud of her 'Thank You Jesus" sign, her first one was stolen, she prayed for that person,we bought her another.

🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝I made spaghetti with meat sauce the other day,  my family loves my homemade spaghetti sauce,  I love Italian food!
So what do I do with leftovers, I mix sauce and spaghetti together in cast iron pan, add a little cream, heat thoroughly, preheat oven on 400, top with mozzarella cheese, don't be sparing, bake for 15 minutes or until browned.
This baked spaghetti and sauce is so delicious, I serve with  cole slaw, and garlic bread, one of dh's favorite.

Have a great weekend,
Thanks for visiting.
Hugs,
Sue

My goodness, Sue, your mother is simply amazing to do all of that cooking. And what a beautiful lady she is! So thoughtful of her to prepare that meal for your dinner.

I saw that tea in Walmart the other day. Good to know you enjoyed it. I may try a box myself! Have you tried the Vermont Maple Ginger?

That baked spaghetti casserole sounds delicious! I will have to try that sometime when I have leftovers.

I can't believe someone stole your Mom's Jesus sign!!
As you know I've walked in the rain many times! I do remember the song and often sing a line of it when I'm 'walkin in the rain.' :)

Sue, you are doing a wonderful job with all that walking! Your mom is so energetic and beautiful. She looks like a movie star. (I can’t believe anyone would steal anything, much less a “Thank you, Jesus” sign, from her yard. Some people. And just like your mom to pray for that person.) Sorry that the blooms are so soon gone, but on to more joys of spring.

Great job with the walking. That's my goal, too. I don't mind walking in the rain if I'm dressed for it. Your mom sounds like she's full of spunk!

Yes, I remember "Walkin' In The Rain" by ... was it Johnny Ray??? -smile-

Lovely times, with your daughter, husband and your mother. Your mother is simply beautiful. And so busy, making a full dinner. I am in awe of her.

Your baked spaghetti looks 'scrumptious'!!!! Sadly, I have to cut out tomatoes.. Because of acid reflux. You enjoy such meals!

Gentle hugs...

Your mother is so lovely, and how wonderful that she is still able to do so much cooking and live at her home. You will treasure that picture of her standing and watching you leave. That is what my parents always did, and this how I always think of them, standing and waving at us and watching us go. Precious memories. Love your spaghetti leftover dish...that looks so good. This was a wonderful post and so encouraging. Have a blessed and wonderful day.

Your mother is a beautiful woman. I have always loved walking in the rain, or shall I say a shower. Pouring rain is not my thing. Course it is going to have to get warmer before I start walking in the rain again. Love your Bradford Pear blooms...

Your mother is lovely! She reminds me somewhat of my mother...she is almost 92 and she gets up everyday (lives alone) and dresses to the nines, every hair in place, jewelry, and her long beautiful nails polished!!!! I know you are so proud of your mom..and your daughter is pretty too:) The meal (except for the collards!) sounds great, and that's a great idea for leftover spaghetti and sauce. I always seem to make too much for hubby and me so may have to try your recipe.

Hi Sue!

Loved all of your photos, those pear blossoms are gorgeous, you live in such a beautiful part of the world!! My husband will soon put the sweeper on and do the same cleaning...after the snow melts ;0) Until then he will pace...he just can't stand to see pine cones on the lawn!

I loved the picture of your mom and your daughter, they are both just beautiful! I'm always just amazed at your mom's stamina, she is amazing. Her, "Thank you Jesus" sign is wonderful, and I hope whoever took hers put it in their yard, maybe her prayers were answered.

Your spaghetti looks delicious and what a great idea for left overs. I am going to try that next time I make spaghetti, it always seems like we have so much left over. I think with this Coronavirus, we all may need to use our food a little more frugally. But, we are indeed blessed, God is good!

Have a great week-end!

Hugs and Love,
Barb
