~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

Wednesday Hodgepodge~ Days of our lives~

Written by Sue, Tuesday, Oct., 6,2020   sunny, warm 70's beautiful fall day!๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ‚

I am joining Joyce and many other sweet ladies on Wednesday Hodgepodge, I often ask myself, what questions might Joyce be asking this week? Most of the time they are questions that cause me to pause, and think about my daily life. Please join us.

I also enjoy getting to know others by their answers, for instance last week was mainly about coffee, I found that most ladies drink about 2 cups a day, as I do, the next day while pouring that first cup I thought about those who were up early and pouring their first cup, wondering  how they were doing! I am also getting to meet and make new friends.  Thank you Joyce for hosting.

From this Side of the Pond
1.What's one part of your everyday routine you'd be better off without?
I couldn't think of any thing, I have been doing this for so long it just comes naturally to me.
However I will show you one thing I enjoy each day as I am washing dishes, the view from my kitchen window, I get to see the seasons as they come and go, and of course the sun as it rises between the trees, a reminder of a new day, and I get to try and get it right.
Psalm 118: This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

  2. October 5th is/was National Do Something Nice Day. So what did you/will do?
Cooked dinner last evening for daughter and family, she has such a busy schedule, going to school, teaching, and building a new home. We usually try and eat healthy but once in a while you just have to have something else! menu: fried pork chop cutlets, smothered in gravy , over a bed of rice, peas, salad, and homemade biscuits! Did someone say yummy, we made pigs of ourselves, no pun intended.๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹

  3. What question do you hate to answer?
My age, simply because I don't act my age, I decided many moons ago to stay at 39! I have been trying to convince my body of this, but to no avail!

4.Do we have control over technology or does it have control over us. In the same vein, have you watched The Social Dilemma (available on Netflix) and if so what did you think?
I believe  technology  controls us, (happy to say, not me anymore, I learned the hard way) I see this all the time, especially when dining at a restaurant, people cannot even have a meal with their family without most of them  on their phones!  I look at the children who are not on phones, isolated, longing for that personal attention from the ones they love the most. Time is so short, and precious with our loved ones.
And what's this with texting, though I do some,I love to hear a familiar voice over the phone.
No, I haven't watched.

 5. What are three small things that make your day?
A good morning kiss from DH, my first cup of coffee, my evening walk!

 6. Insert your own random thoughts here.
After many months of extreme heat, and humidity Fall's arrival has brought so much relief, I  am enjoying spending more time outside, gardening, walking, savoring the sights and sounds that it is bringing, even our animals are happier.

I have been busy this week repotting my household plants. I try and do this every two yrs. or when needed, it has been over two yrs, the plants were root bound and so much in need of pruning.
First thing, I usually have extra pots, so I wash them,

then I start repotting...
I also take cutting from said plants and root them therefore making new plants. Most of the time I have some kind of plant cutting rooting in water, thus making more plants.

"Hello my pretties," Feeling better?

I started Monday and will finish today, I have three large plants left. Whew!!! this has been a real task, but what a wonderful feeling as I walk by and say "hello" to them. They will sit here on the dining room table for a few days to acclimate before finding a new home, I have plants in every room, yes, even the bathroom.

Thank you for stopping by,
 may your day be filled
 and overflowing
 with many blessings,
love,
Sue

I love your view from your kitchen window. It is so comforting to have a place like that to look out the window and enjoy the new day and season. My current kitchen window is a little different, as my sink is at an island, and the window is about 5 feet or more away, so I really can't look out like I'd like to, but I do have a lovely window above my computer desk where I spend a lot of time looking out at the pond in our back yard. That has been a blessing for me here at this new house. I love your potted plants and what a lovely bunch of them you have!! I am not very good with house plants...they don't thrive under my "care", or lack thereof. I tend to enjoy what God and nature provide for us outside that I don't have to worry about so much. I was not the daughter in the family that was given the green thumb. That was my sister. LOL. I would love to come and sit on your front porch and enjoy the beautiful view with you! Thank you for sharing your world with us today. So lovely.

Hello,
I also said a kiss from my sweetheart. ;-)
I too have plants in every room, including the bathroom. I love all your fun pots, they are beautiful.
The next time you have that delicious dinner, let me know, I will be over.

Hi Sue...how nice to know that when you look out from your kitchen window, you are facing east. Me, too.

What is wrong with that yummy meal? Boy, I'd have enjoyed being seated at the table. ๐Ÿ˜

What a big job it was to repot all your plants...thankfully, I don't have too many. They sure do look happy...they're all saying "ahhhhhhh..."

My new kitchen will have a window facing the back and that's where I am planning my garden. I can't wait!
When we moved, I drove 6 plants in the car with me. Five thrived and are happily repotted and awaiting their final spot in the new place.
I'm glad to know that I'm not the only person who talks to her plants :)

You do have a beautiful view from your kitchen window. That would make washing dishes inspirational! Your plants are so beautiful and healthy! Now I want to know where they live. Do you spread them around the house, are they all in one place?

I love the view from your kitchen window. I would always choose to have my kitchen sink under a window if I could. In this house it faces a wall so I work as fast as I can at the sink.
Your plants are beautiful and that was a big job for sure! I don't have any indoor plant because sadly I don't take good care of them.

Aw, your intro really touched my heart!
I usually keep our kitchen curtains closed to ward off the Southwest sun, but your view is so pretty I couldn't bear to hide it.
Good to know I don't need to concern myself about my pothos becoming root bound more often than every couple years. I'm new to the game!

Your plants are stunningly beautiful. You really have talent with them. But my favorite part of your blog right now is your header design, the mantle. It is sooo homey and beautiful.

Sue, I read your answers and thought many of them I could easily say "ditto"!!! But not for the houseplants! I envy your green thumb!!! #3 is definitely a ditto...I think when people hear "71" they think OLD, but my son and DIL and grands tell me I don't look old, don't act old, don't dress old...therefore, I refuse to be OLD!!! I had a much older friend (now deceased) who died in her late 80s still wearing blue jeans, lots of jewelry, and riding around in her little red convertible:) Don't you just love somebody like that? I agree with you about technology too...it's great in some ways but can't help but sometimes think it's been our downfall. I left you a reply to your comment on my blog but basically said before I can ever teach a Sun. Sch. lesson it has to have some meaning to me...or I just cannot (for the life of me) teach it. I always feel like God puts on my heart what I should be teaching so He and I go with it:) Love your view!!!!

Wonderful view from your window. You are such an industrious lady! Love seeing all the stuff you do on your farm. I'm getting around late this week because of traveling. Hope your week ended well and that you have a great weekend.

I also wash dishes by hand while enjoying the view out the window. I had to smile about your thoughts on technology. I agree and just don't get all the focus on phones. My cell phone sits on an end table and I forget to even check it to see if someone has called. It acts more like an old land line for me. Showing my age here. Have a blessed day!

Sue, I have missed your encouraging posts and have returned! I had to laugh at the age you chose (39) to remain. I think my age is probably some days 11 and some days 60. The in-between is all good too! I hope you and your sweet family are well. ♥ I'm your newest follower. xo
