~To live, love, and journal our days at~

Well! Hello Dear Friends~

Written by Sue, Wednesday, August 27, 2014      Such a beautiful and pleasant day, temps.80's, Ahh!

Where does one begin again while being so sporadic with keeping her blog updated? I have contemplated this question so much lately, (at one point thought of pushing the delete button), but just couldn't as blogging and blogger friends have become so much a part of my life, so once again I am attempting to journal here in blogland!

This summer, as most summers are on a farm, has been very busy with late to bed and early to rise. Our days begin with devotions, and coffee on the front porch, and always ending in the late evening with another cup of coffee,(decaf) on the back screened in porch( dodging those mosquitoes,) comparing notes of the day's events, and planning the next day's chores.

This summer found a few challenges for me, but as always God is so faithful, he renews my strength from day to day! I have been studying to be certified as a CNA, something I have wanted to do for some time. If I were younger, I would try for the RN degree. ~smile~ Who knows, anything is possible! My mind and spirit are so young, now if my body would get the message maybe we would all be in sync.Ha! Ha! Anyone knowing this lady,(my Mom, mentor) knows this is true.Just look at that smile and those cute socks, she, by example, has always told her children we could be or do anything we wanted to.

When I see DH get the Bush -Hog out and start to clip I know that the fruit and veggie season is drawing to a close, this week as I watched Mr P. mow I had mixed emotions, one was a sigh of relief, glad to take a breather, the other was a little sad as I know my time in the garden,(which I love and enjoy so much) is drawing to a close for this year. However, I still have my herb garden and flower garden so all is not gone, yet. ~smile~

This is an earlier photo, I haven't had much time to work with the herbs lately, and the garden is a little messy. Grin~

One of the best thing for me is, I will once again be able to blog, I have missed this so much, and Dh husband knows this, he is so sweet, the other morning after closing in prayer, and we were about to get going, he said, "I will be glad when this canning is over so you can get back to blogging, I know you have missed it!" OH, how right he was!

So what did I do today?
I finished the tomatoes for this season, Whoopee!! I made tomato salsa, and canned tomatoes. This is the best salsa evah! Daughter Susan gave it to me, and everyone knows SA Texas makes the best Salsa, the recipe comes from a dear Hispanic grandmother who operated a restaurant!

I am so thankful the pantry is once again restocked!

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and say hi!

So very nice to see your post! I was just thinking about you the other day! I so admire your canning! Such a wonderful feeling! And your mom - such a very lovely lady! Your farm is beautiful - blessings for a gentle autumn!

Debbie August 27, 2014 at 11:38 PM

Hello Sue! I am soo glad you didn't hit delete. You may have been sporadic recently but that's OK. Your a busy lady, and first things first. I think it's wonderful your studying to be a CNA! I think your sweet spirit would be soo good at this! I LOVE how your mom ALWAYS looks soo beautiful and keeps soo busy. What an example she has been for you. Your canning as always looks soo productive and I am sure it's tasty too. How wonderful it would be to open the pantry and see all that home grown produce stocked up in there. It has to give you a good feeling. Glad I popped online tonight and saw that you had posted. It's always soo nice to hear how you have been. HUGS to you!

What a busy lady you are!

All the garden work and studying to be a CNA! Wow!

Glad you'll be getting back to blogging, and didn't hit that delete button!

You, your farm, your mom, your canning...

You are all sights for sore eyes.

I have missed journaling your days with you. I got too ferhoodled and turned around for blogging this year, too, and just like your husband mine mentioned that he missed "blogging Debbie" because he can tell that the interaction with a creative world and creativity itself is very good for me.

And so... I am trying to create a life of balance which includes more time for this favorite pastime of mine.

We shall see.
We shall see.

Cheryl August 28, 2014 at 8:12 AM

Don't delete...don't delete!! It is always good to see you pop in, even if it's not as often as you'd hoped!

Glad to know that all is well on the farm at Peartree Lane! You've been busy...of course. Nice to see your mother looking as beautiful as always.

Enjoy this little breathing stretch here at summer's end.

Always love hearing from you.

I loved every word. I think God must have been dealing with a lot of us because I had similar thoughts, but I could not give up my blogging friends. I have had a crazy life of late, but things settled down enough for me to blog yesterday, and I am so glad I did and saw this. I have missed you!

I admire you so in all of your industry. Look at that salsa! It looks yummy.

I loved seeing your gardens and your husband on the tractor. And your sweet mother snapping beans in her cute socklings. Made me smile.

Hugs and love coming yourvwaybacross the miles...

Your pantry is so amazing. I love looking at all of your hard work in jars. That salsa looks wonderful too. My tomatoes are just beginning to ripen.
It was too hot for the blooms to set and then it got to cool.
It sounds like the three bears, not it is just right. :)
You are just amazing to want to learn how to get your license. I am always so glad to see you blogging again. I always miss you but I know how busy you are.
I love all of your photos.

Commenting on your blog only today...

It was really lovely to find a post today. I know how crazy busy summer is for you, but the pantry filled with all those beautiful jars of homegrown food is worth it all!

I am finishing up August and then will be taking some time away from blogging, specifically, commenting. I even hope that I can take a break from reading blogs. I feel like reading books again!

All the best with your CNA studies. That's pretty cool that you feel motivated to do that and so are following an interest. I am impressed!

Oh my. Look at that pantry. It's a work of art! Your mom is so cute!

Christine August 28, 2014 at 12:11 PM

I'm echoing Cheryl's comment; don't delete... don't delete!

We know you are busy and the rewards we get to see. I love it when your shelves are full, too!

Give your DH a hug and thank him for encouraging you to keep blogging.

Nice to see a post from you.
Your pantry looks so neat and tidy with delicious things to eat.
We just picked our first red tomato and made BLT's with it.
My herb garden didn't do so well. I'll try again next year.

Lea August 28, 2014 at 9:13 PM

Oh, my goodness, your pantry just makes my mouth water. What a labor of pure love and a whole lot of hard work. Oh, that I were so industrious.

Always a joy to hear from you, no matter how sporadic it may be.

Blessings to you!

Hi Sue,
Glad to see you're back! I sure missed your posts.
I wish I knew how to grow vegetables and can!
Liked your mom's slippers! fun!

Rebecca September 1, 2014 at 7:13 AM

I think blogging helps us recognize the blessings we enjoy - all gifts from the Father's hand, strength to accomplish meaningful tasks, and the preciousness of loved ones, etc.

So glad you didn't delete, Sue!

Seeing your mentor/mother and that full pantry warmed my heart this morning!

Barb September 2, 2014 at 9:22 PM

Hi Sue!

Oh, I know what you mean about blogging! I love it so much, but my time is so limited. Just when I think I will stop, I read someones blog, (like yours.. ;0) ), and I don't know how I could possibly not keep in touch with such wonderful friends! Friends I most likely will never get to hug face to face, but, bring me such joy, and make me smile!

Your mom is adorable - what a classy lady!

You would make a wonderful nurse! Keep your goal of RN!

I'm a little envious of your salsa . . . I can almost smell it cooking!

Cindy September 3, 2014 at 11:53 AM

Hi Sue...loved catching up with you today. I have missed blogging too, but over the last several years haven't felt there was anything exciting going on except work. :) However hubby and I are getting ready to finally move into our house so I am excited about that.

Loved seeing your herb garden. So pretty. I think I could take some pointers from you.

Loved your stocked pantry too. You have been one busy lady.

Walking on Sunshine September 9, 2014 at 9:31 AM

Glad to see the nice updates! Your pantry looks beautiful. Our garden did very well this year also. We grew pumpkins for the first time and had a nice crop of over 50. We lost about 25 to the rabbits and other critters that got into them. :( Nice to see you again this morning.

Kris Anderson September 12, 2014 at 6:19 PM

Linda Born September 16, 2014 at 9:23 PM

So glad I stopped by to read this homey and encouraging post, encouraging because I am reminded it isn't too late to pursue a new dream as you are doing or just have my hair done, put on a cute pair of capris and socks, and snap beans on the front porch with a perky smile on my face like your mom! God bless, Linda

Kathleen September 20, 2014 at 4:34 PM

Sharing thoughts from my heart with you,

The farmer and his friends
Thank you so much for coming by, please come and visit anytime.

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

The phrase "There's no place like home", is so true.

No matter where I go, I always love turning the key and hearing that clicking sound in the lock of our back door . Even if I have only gone shopping, I am so happy to be home.

Did you know that every home has its own scent, the first thing I do is sniff the air, and I offer a quiet prayer of thankfulness, and for safety.

My decorating style is my own, I decorate with the colors and treasures that are me. One of the things that I have enjoyed about blogging is the difference in how we all view the world, and our homes. Just like our Creator made each of us to be unique, we create our own unique styles and colors in our own homes. I have learned so much from you and enjoyed your homes so much, and have learned so much about you from your homes...

I truly believe that God wants us to have a safe haven to come home too, a place we can claim as our own,... just like us, homes come in all shapes and sizes if love is there it is our home.., if our things are there it is our home. When we add our own personal touches, it is our home

Home is a place we can go to when the storms of life are raging. I often listen to the wind and rain when it is coming down hard and am reminded of the safety of our sheltering home. It is the one place that we control what and who comes in, (well, most of the time. lol)

Sometimes late at night, when I am unable to sleep I will get up and as I am walking across the room, I hear the floor creek beneath my feet, I go, sit, and listen to other sounds that my home makes, a pop here and there in the wall, it is like the wall is talking to me. A home not only has its own scent, but it also has its own sound. I truly believe that a home takes on its own personality, US!!

So why this blog?....
I wanted a place that I could come, talk about, and share of how my day was spent here at the "farmhouse", and about the things that I do to make it a "home". Making a house a home is a lifetime endever, and I might add a joy, as our lives are always changing.
