~Savoring Moments~

Written by Sue, Wednesday,April 2,2014                        Sunny, temps. high 80's absolutely beautiful
March went by so fast for me, and I am glad it seemed to pass so quickly, now I know spring has finally arrived. I was so busy with the garden that I didn't take the time to take many photos,  we did a lot of preparing of  the gardens for planting, but the highlight of March was a visit from our son, his son and his fiancee'. That's where I have been this past week, enjoying and savoring moments with them. The father and son don't live near each other nor near us so it was a special treat for all.
I loved seeing the pair of them enjoy this special time together.
I think they covered every inch of the farm, ~smile~

 There is always something unusual to see around the farm, this Navy Blimp just meandered by the other day.
 While here our son was shopping for a special take home gift for his wife,(she wasn't able to come because of her job) I went along to help as much as I could, when he had chosen the necklace I went outside the jewelers to wait while he checked out, he called me back to the counter and showed me this ring.
He- "Mother how do you like this ring?
Me- "Very pretty, it looks antique ."
He- Would you wear it?"
Me- Thinking he was getting this as an added gift for his wife I said "Yes I would."
He- "it's yours, try it on."
It fit perfectly, This was such a nice surprise, I wore it all afternoon admiring it many times, and making sure it was seen by others. ~smile~ This token of his love will be a memory that I will always treasure.

~Please excuse the well worn hands~
Family left yesterday and are now safely home, I am adjusting today as the house is once again quiet, and have been trying to catch up on blogging. Tomorrow I will be planting herbs in the garden, and still savoring moments.
I am joining Cheryl's  "A Gathering of Moments", though a little late. Thank you for hosting Cheryl.

Happy April everyone

"Happy Days Are Here Again"

Written by Sue, Monday, March 10, 2014        Sunny, very warm, temps. 79

I am not complaining nor comparing today, for the past two days we have had absolutely perfect weather, and I have been taking advantage of the warm sunshine. We ran a few errands today, as I was passing by the garden center at Lowe's I heard  these pitiful voices calling to me, "Pick me, pick me  lady". The herb section was in perfect unison as they pleaded to come home with me. I just couldn't resist.
 This evening I took a walk in the herb garden to find places for my new found friends, and was totally taken aback to see that my parsley had survived our cold, icy, snowy winter. I also noticed that someone had been nibbling on the parsley, could it be
that Peter Rabbit was sleeping on the job or that he just might have let some of his friends slip in . hmmm.
Tomorrow we are promised 80 degrees and then the bottom will fall out but only for a short time, it's almost springtime don't cha know, but I will take any warm weather.

Due to all the inspiration I have been seeing here in blogland, I did do a little spring tweaking just a little.The burlap wrapped tree is a mystery to me as to where I got it. but I am glad it found it's way here.

These little garden ornaments are so cute, I found them while cleaning out the garage a few weeks back, the colors are so vivid, I find it so amazing the things you tuck away and forget about, at least I do.~smile~
The birds I got for a song at Kirkland's last year, I still haven't got this vignette  like I want it, but with the warm weather, it is going to have to do for now.

As spring approaches ever so close,may your days be filled with sunshine, your hearts overflow with love, joy, and peace in the beauty of God's wonderful creations. For He is the "Master Gardener" of our hearts and souls.

Love,
Sue

~Still Beautiful~

Written by Sue, Sunday, September 22, 2013                 cloudy. showers, cool, 70's lovely first fall day.

 On a beautiful pre-fall day, Mr. P. and I decided to take a ride to a little country restaurant in a small country community where I spent most of my childhood summers, and a few years of growing up and going to school. As we passed this church, memories of past times came to heart. I asked if we could stop by on our way back and take some photos.

This church holds wonderful memories for me, if you stayed at my grandmothers for any length of time,... you went to church, either with her, or other churches in the community who were having "Bible School" or revivals. This was fine with me, because I got to see my friends every day for a week.

At the end of the week of Bible School we had a commencement, this is where parents and grandparents would come and hear songs being sung, and bible verses recited from memory from their precious children. As a child I had a great memory and wasn't bashful at all, so I was selected to lead our group.
Psalms 71:5~For thou art my hope, Oh Lord God; thou art my trust from my youth.
A few days later one of the parents was visiting my grandparents, I over heard him tell them what a great job I did leading, and he was amazed at my memorization. I never forgot those words of encouragement by this kind man, to this day I can still see him sitting in his car and talking to my grandparents. Imagine a child of seven or eight never forgetting this moment.

I have always tried to give encouragement to others,especially to children, as I know how this impacted my life. This man never knew how much those encouraging words meant to me And you too, may never know how your words of encouragement  are making a difference.

When I attended Bible School here there was no water from a faucet, just a hand pump, nor indoor plumbing of any kind, the only bathroom was a "Privy" out back. This photo shows where the hand pump was, and it produced some of the freshest and coolest water.

As you can see it is a long established church, I was so amazed at how well kept it was, and services are still held there. This was such a wonderful day trip for us, BTW the country meal was super delicious.~grin~
We noticed the sign and made plans to return for this service, which would have been last night, but due to DH"s sudden illness, (vertigo). We didn't make it, but for sure we will keep our eyes open for future events. Just maybe I will run into some old friends. that is, if we can still recognize one another. LOL

Aren't memories like these one of the greatest blessings from God? I felt like a child again!
Blessings,
Sue

"Savoring" moments

Written by Sue, December 31, 2012                     partly sunny cool temps. 50's.. a beautiful day is in store..
The view from my kitchen window this morning.

 On this last day of 2012, God took the time to paint me a beautiful picture, reminding me once again of His Majestic Glory, also to remember to "savor" moments of each day. Sometimes they come early in the day, other times throughout the day, sometimes they come at the end of the day. You see "savor" was my word for 2012,  I like taking a word, or phrase for the new year, many times "savor" caused me to pause, take a deep breath, and just "savor" the moment. ~smile~ With all of the new technology, and busy schedules, it is so easy to just be "to busy". I am sure there were moments that should have been savored,but because of my busyness I missed it, but for every moment that was savored, I am so thankful.

 One thing I found out was that no matter what circumstances were going on in my life, these moments would come,(especially during the remodeling. ~smile~) and I knew "WHO" had sent them, because "HE" loves me, this I know for the Bible tells me so.  I am especially thankful for my beautiful sunrise this morning. God's timing is perfect!!
I am so looking forward to this new year, and of more savoring moments, and of my new word or phrase.

My prayer for you on this beautiful last day of 2012, is that your savoring moments are many, trust me they will come, because God loves you too, and He will send them your way.
"Wishing you a most blessed and Happy New year"
Much love,
Sue
James 1:17~ Every good gift, and every perfect is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation, or shadow of turning.
p.s.
Here is another savoring moment for me,(taken this morning)this last day of 2012,  I am savoring it's last day, yes, there are a few unopened presents under the tree, Dh and I are saving them for tonight. Last evening dh heard a noise and he found that an ornament had fallen among other fallen ornaments. I would say that when this happens, it is about time to pack it away, wouldn't you. lol

~What have I been doing?~

Written by Sue, Friday, January 20, 2012                            cold, rainy day, simply beautiful! temps. in the 50's
Why savoring moments like these...

The watering hole, Oh so refreshing!

"Ma, I think my face needs washing!"
"My helicopter tail says it all! Yummy"! What a sight when that tail wags!
"this is my best today, I haven't had time to visit the salon, besides you interrupted my lunch!"

"Chewing the cud!" Please, Bonita, Where are your manners? Absolutely no sticking your tongue out!
"Ah!! this is the life!!"

"Watch your step bud, I am just to lazy to get up!"
Mr. P. chasing the chickens out of the garden, look at those short legs run, (the hens, not Mr. P). ~LOL~ My favorite "savored"moment! He is soooo cute!!!

We've been getting ready  for our next growing season! our weather has been so pretty!

Beans soaking,

Flowers for me! What a pleasant surprise
Soups ready, come and get it! the best 14 bean soup evah!!
The girls have finally started back to laying,... eggs are like people they all come in different colors, sizes and shapes, but all are so "delicious"
Enjoying these while doing dishes, I find myself looking for more dishes to wash! ~smile~
View from my kitchen window, a bluebird and a Carolina blue birdhouse, can it get any better?
Fruits of labor, a clean and organized laundry room!!

Since receiving my new word,"savor", for this year I have become more keenly aware of the many gifts given to me each day by my heavenly Father, something as simple as the sound of a train whistle in the far distance as dh and I are closing our eyes for the night, and being wakened by the song bird outside my window in the morning. I can't count the times I have uttered the word, "savor"since january 1st. My goal this year is to "savor" each moment and every gift given to me, especially by the one who loves me most, James1:17~Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.....

 and by my loved ones, speaking of which,... Yesterday I received this in the mail, from my dear daughter , Susan, and haven't taken it off since. I have read this inscription over and over. The whole Serenity prayer is inscribed on the bracelet, How cool is that?
These are just  a few of my "savored" moments this week! Now how about your savored moments, I would so love to read them.
Until we meet again, enjoy your weekend,
Love,
Sue
The Serenity Prayer
Path
source
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.
