Pear tree lane Farmhouse

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

Simple pleasures

Written by Sue, Sunday, August 19, 2018        hot, humid, scattered showers.

Grandson Will, who serves our country in The Navy, sent me some sunflower seeds earlier this summer, and this is the results, He loves gardening like we do. I love sunflowers, they always make me smile, because they are smiling.

Not a lot going on around the farmhouse this week, to hot to be outside, nothing like ironing to set things back to normal. I love the smell of laundred and freshly ironed clothes.
..
I recently received some lovely, thoughtful, get well and birthday cards from family and friends, near and far. One card was from my blogging friend, Vee, she blogs at https://ahavenforvee.blogspot.com, we have been  friends for a long time. The cards arrived at just the right time. I was so uplifted.

I also received a handmade notecard from my new friend, Gina , who blogs at http://www.withtwigsandbranches.com, she is so gifted. Don't you just love meeting and making new friends. One of the reason I enjoy blogging. I loved it so much I framed it, though not quite satisfied with the frame, I am thinking maybe black.

Speaking of watermelon, we have been enjoying the last of the season's melons, nothing like home grown. Yummy, so sweet and juicy

To all of you precious Ones who prayed and wrote such comforting thoughts, on our loss of Jack I thank you with all my heart, I am so touched with your thoughtfulness. Friends are one of the greatest gifts from our heavenly Father.
Love,
Sue

~Our Memory Sheet~

Written by Sue, September 1, 2011                                  Absolutely beautiful late summer day, temps. in the 80's

She was so aptly named by Susie one of our granddaughter.
If  only this sheet could talk!!

There would be stories of fun, laughter until your belly shook, and then there would be tears of joy,.... and at times sadness also told to her. But she has decided to keep all these secrets to herself. Now that's a real friend!!.

After hanging her out to dry, I stood back and watched as she hung so regally with the other laundry
Knowing that once again,  she would soon have the "privilege" of listening and holding more secrets, as we would leave our marks of love on her. What an awesome responsibility.
When she is taken down today  I will sniff her air dried freshness, and hold her for a moment while thinking of the memories. ~note~ I love to smell air dried laundry, but this one is special~ ~grinning~

Do you have a memory sheet or blanket, that holds your secrets, and marks of love.... Time well spent as a family, especially with children, will forever be etched in their hearts and minds. These will carry you and them through life, both when things are great and when they are not.

I cherish this "memory" sheet

Thus, simply as a child, we learn a home is made from love. Warm as the golden hearth fire on the floor.

~Mothering~

Written by Sue, Thursday August 25, 2011              sunny 80's and so beautiful
What is a simple pleasure? To me it is something or someone that just moves my heart to pause! and take a deep breath!! Like you I do this so many times each day, sometimes not even realizing it until it has passed...

While cleaning the screened porch after a storm this week, I heard these chirping sounds nearby,I paused! and enjoyed this simple pleasure, naturally I go get my camera, and I start snapping. I find it so amazing of how I want to share so much with you all!! ~smiling all the way to the computer~. I guess ya'll are stuck with this very simple farmwife....

Just as we teach and train our young so does this mother.

She watches me with a cautious eye, ready to defend her young.
Why, is this a simple pleasure? For me it is just that "SIMPLE" not to mention SWEET". I love to observe how the mother's in the animal world look after and care for their young.

The dust has begun to settle here on the farm, dh and I are kinda taking a break, I am spending some down time on the porch, enjoying simple pleasures such as this one and trying to catchup on visiting my friends here in blogland.

Thank you so much for stopping by and for leaving me such beautiful comments, on my last post, I know it was very loooong, but I "pinkie promise" not to do that to you again any time soon, that is unless those darlins of ours come back for a visit. ~hee hee~
Until next time,
may the God of peace continue to fill your days with many Simple Pleasures

Simple Pleasures...~
A man and his friend...
written by Sue, Wednesday, March 9, 2011
It has been a pleasure watching Mr. P. and Lucy bond. ......

Most of you know the story of how we lost our dear German Shepherd, Maggie, last year. Just recently I asked  Mr. P. about us getting another dog,( I had been  praying for just the right one,) he said he had been looking in the paper, but was having no luck.....

Last week the phone rang, a lady at our church said she had heard about our loss, and that they had a 3 year old German Shepherd that they would like to find her  a good home.  Needless to say I was very happy. At first dh was a little concerned, as she was three, and he didn't know how well she would adjust to our other animals. But was willing to try.

As you can see all is well, she is so happy as there is a lot of territory to explore..Lucy is so well behaved and is so eager to please. When dh gets in his truck, she wants to be right there sitting beside him. What a site to see them together, just  a wonderful Simple Pleasure !!!I don't know who is the happiest,  Mr. P or Lucy. She even helped him repot some pansies.

This week
I have been busy spring cleaning  the house and when I have extra time (Whatever that is). LOL I am trying  to get this blog straightened out.. When I left my other blog, I wanted to get a new email address as my primary account, and as you might know, Blogger and google do not want nor will they willingly let you have a new email as your primary account.  You can have as many blogs and email accounts as you want under that first email account....... No I didn't want that, I had to have my way!

I've got a friend who is a whiz with computers and he finally got them to let me have that new account.. I now have my new email account peartreelanefarmhouse@gmail.com as my main primary account. In the process I lost a lot of  my information and am now trying to redo it.
Why am I telling this?... I lost all the  blogs that I follow, changing did away with my profile and I am now having to try and regroup, It's like I am starting out all over, which could be  good thing. So please be patient with me....

I cleaned the foyer yesterday, and started tinkering with some spring decorations. I put this lighted branch on the table and just added some colorful eggs.. I haven't got it fixed like I want yet,.... so we shall see.

It does look pretty at night, Our foyer is usually the first room our guests  see when they come, and I try to always make it warm and inviting, nothing fancy just a little touch here and there.
I guess this counts as two of many simple pleasures I have been blessed with. I hope your week has been filled with many simple pleasures too!

Simple Pleasures~
Written by Sue, February 23, 2011
My simple pleasure today is being able to go out to my garden and gather these...
Come in the house slice them and add to this....
To put on and in this....
go for a walk, come back in the house to the most wonderful aroma of this...

And the best simple pleasure was to hear dh say"mmmm this is so good." Such sweet music to my ears. I love to garden and I love to cook, especially if the veggies come from my garden. I found many simple pleasures today, but I chose this one because the end product brought a much welcomed Simple pleasure to DH.

Enjoy your day,
Sue

Recipe...
2 or 3 spring onions chopped
1 clove of garlic
thyme
marjoram,
sage
2 Tbs. worchester sauce
Juice of 1 lemon
salt and pepper
Saute all of the above in oil of choice
1 whole chicken
Place sauce under the breast skin, and then pour over the chicken
Bake in preheated 350 degree oven.
My Simple Pleasure this week is spending time with my dh gleaning the last of the veggies for this growing season. This included pumpkins, gourds okra,a few watermelons, butter beans and squash. To some this might seem like work, and if I was gathering by myself it would be. lol

We had so much fun, laughing and reminiscing of times when we did this with our children, and of how small our pumpkins were this year, due to the hot , dry summer. He even stole a kiss or two from me.

Most of the time he is out on the farm doing his chores and I am busy around the house, (unless we are on a major project like the porch, which is now finished.)Yea! However he is never to far away, one of the things I love about farming.

This is the last of the season's fruits and veggies. Not bad for a couple of hours work. Time spent together, whether working or playing is time well spent. A marriage is something that has to be worked on each and every day. I am so thankful for the simple pleasure of dh's company.
Blessings,
Sue

Simple Pleasures

If I wake during the night, and get up, I always go around and look outside my windows, (just a little quirk of mine). lol

Sometimes there is a full moon, other times the sky will be filled with stars that sparkle like diamonds. And then there are times like last night, when the fog was so thick, you could slice it with a knife, or it was as thick as pea soup. I know you have heard these sayings before. ... And I knew it would be here for me to enjoy this morning and it was.....

At the back porch, I could see the fog dancing with the fruit trees in the orchard.

This was taken out on the front porch, the cows were wandering through the fog,as if it was not there.

By these photos you can see it was not as thick as pea soup, the fog had lifted somewhat, and as the sun came up it burned the fog away. But what a simple pleasure it was to enjoy one of God's many gifts to us.
Please enjoy, and share your Simple Pleasures today,
Sue
