~Monday Morning Musings~

Written by Sue, Monday, October 7, 2019     cloudy, warm, temps.80 low humidity, so nice
~Autumn~
*********************************************************************************
With all of the busyness I am enjoying the fall decorations so much, yes, fall/autumn is my favorite season, with Christmas being my favorite holiday, this is when all of  my five senses really  come alive. I love the cool crisp mornings, the smell of fresh hay as it is placed in the barn! The leaves as they change color and begin to fall., carving pumpkins, campfires from burning leaves and oak logs, last but not least  all of  the fabulous fall recipes. OH! OH! I almost forgot, the  "Hallmark Fall" movies! YES!!

Ahhhh! the wonderful fragrance of fall,"Leaves", from Bath and Body Works  has become one of my favorites I like that this company is now using more essential oils in their products.  My fall candles are lighted early in the day!

One of my favorite decorations are these led candles, they come on about dusk for 5 hrs.
Pumpkins always a favorite on the mantle, more led lights.

Turkey Man found his place on the sofa, and says no way is he leaving either! He says "eat ham, so much tastier"!`smile~

This tree greets us when we come in by the foyer, the lights also come on automatically at  dusk for 5 hrs.

I am so thankful for this season of  "Thankfulness"
Psalms 100: 4-5~Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name, For the Lord is good, His mercy is everlasting and His truth endures to all generations.

Not posting on a regular time schedule, is not a good thing for me as a blogger, it seems the longer I am away the harder it is to catch up. Sometimes life becomes so busy we neglect the things that bring so much joy and satisfaction to us. I truly enjoy blogging, this includes visiting with you, which I count to be more important than what I have to say.

I draw so much inspiration and encouragement from your ideas through photos and thoughts you share, whether it be on decorating, sharing your faith, and family, and food recipes! Bloggers are truly a close knit family to which I am honored to be a part of. My desire is to be a more active member of this"close knit" family! Thank you for opening up and sharing your homes and life with me.
Blessings,
Sue

~Three gifts that keep on giving~

Written by Sue, Monday, August12, 2019        hot humid 90's
Having family and friends help celebrate my birthday all week made for one of the best ever. Thank you too for your sweet comments and birthday wishes on my last post.

Though most of my family  live in other states, the birthday song was sung to me numerous times Saturday, in person, and via phone. Even when I was out and about  they left loving messages on the answering machine, and then made sure to call back. With life being so busy and for them to make such efforts really touched me, grandson Gabe even told his grandpa, that I should celebrate all of August!~wink~

"Happy Birthday, Mom/Grandma, I love and miss you," are some of the sweetest words I  ever heard.

There is no distance and time in those words, though freely given so many times Saturday, I never got tired of hearing "I love you". Each time we speak or hear them we are rejuvenated, smiles and laughter come forth, loneliness vanishes, because personal value is made known, i.e. "someone cares for me.", relationships and hearts are mended, families restored. I could go and on of how valuable and important these three words  are especially to children and older adults.

I call these Three spoken words, "I love you", the number One gift that keeps on giving..💖💗💗💛

I would love to share more of what it means to me and  of the importance of especially letting these two groups know and hear the words, "I love you",  but  I wanted to share how my week ended. Maybe sometime  I will write more at a later date.
*********************************************************************************
I was also blessed with many cards, I keep my cards, do you! Thoughts in them and those personally written give  hope, encouragement and joy! Written words are another gift that keeps on giving!

Saturday,we had brunch with daughter,Susan and her sweetheart, I call him my son-in-love,,..Time.. is another gift that keeps on giving.

I received these lovely gifts, plus a little extra $$$ from them and other monetary gifts in the mail from our sons and their family, and my Mother!
Susan knows I like bicycles,
This was my first time seeing one of these it is called a Kitchen Boa, (SIL chose this). Place it around your neck while in the kitchen, use to pick up plates and/or wiping your hands, it is so cool!

.
I decided not to have a cake,  instead I opted  for blueberry  hand pies, which we had last evening, ending my week long celebration! "Whew" I am tired, now I need a vacation from celebrating.~wink~

What a great week I had, Mr P. really made it extra special, to him I say, "Thank you so much, I love you with all my heart."
Have a blessed day
Love,
Sue

~Monday Morning Musings~

Written by Sue, Monday, February 25, 2019     sunny warm, 70 so happy to see the sun again today.

I do enjoy my slow cooker, I can  put some meat in and it cooks while I am doing other things, I can even go out and work in the garden, or walk.

Remember the pork roast I bought on sale, last week, very little fat, after rubbing with mixture of 1/4 tsp.ground ginger, 1/2 tsp. garlic powder,1/8 tsp thyme, salt, pepper , I browned it in pan on all sides, then into slow cooker, mix and pour over it with 2 cups chicken broth, 2T. lemon juice, 1 T soy sauce

I found and tried this recipe from Trish Yearwood, Slow Cooker Pork Loin, simple and I must add it was so delicious.

And that gravy was so delicious, and easy peasy., pan drippings with cornstarch!

While the pork loin was cooking I decided to make some cookie dough to bake this morning, or freeze,  think I will bake half.

More cookies, for mailing, and gift giving to put in another gift basket that I will be making this week. I found out yesterday that a neighbor was having surgery this week and thought  she might need some cheering up.

You probably think all I have to talk about is baking cookies and making gift baskets, I suppose you are right. While discussing this with Mr P yesterday, I jokingly said to him that in my old age I want to be known as the "Gift Basket, and Cookie Making Lady." ~wink~

I made three different recipes, Barbs recipe, go to this link here Soft Sugar Cookies, I have been wanting to try this for a while, and finally got around to it., can hardly wait to taste them. I so enjoy Barb's blog, she and I have been friends for a long time here in blogland.

#2 was Snicker Doodle, my first memory of this recipe goes way back, when I was a young busy mother of four children and needed homemade goodies for school, and other activities, there was a sweet lady in our community that had a bake shop in her home that came to my rescue more than a few times. ~grin~

#3, is a recipe called Ranger Cookies, that I took and changed to fit my notion, (I do that a lot) we shall call it Sue's Ranger Cookie recipe, not very original, is it. I couldn't wait to try these so I baked a dozen, my professional Cookie Tester gave them an A+, You know who my professional cookie tester is, don't you, of course, Mr P.

What a welcoming sight for me this morning, it has been quite a while since seeing the sun streaming into my kitchen.

The weather has taken a change for the better, as soon as I bake some of these cookies, I am off to the green house.
May your day be filled with many blessings.

Love,
Sue

"Monday Morning Musing"

Written by Sue, Monday, February 11, 2019            cold, rain, temps. 40's
Last week was absolutely beautiful temps. were in the 80's , we took advantage by making some repairs and doing more cleanup from the effects of hurricane Florence. I didn't decorate for Valentines Day this year, because we have been so busy with lambing, and cleaning up from hurricane Florence.

The first job was to repair my little playhouse, aka green house, most of you know how much I love to garden. Hurricane Florence really played havoc on her last fall. I am blessed that Mr P can make most of the repairs, with my help, of course, I really did help, pinky promise, someone has to take photos. ~wink~

It is now ready for sowing my vegetable and flower seeds! The bird feeders are hanging there until I can paint the platforms.

A great week to clean the garden too, it took me all day but I got it completed.

BEFORE!
AFTER! The green you see are turnips, collards, kale and onions, I am blessed to be able to have fresh vegetables in winter.

we planted our English peas,

DH is covering the peas ever so lightly

My sweet Valentine worked on the driveway, we have so much  fun working together.

80+ temps. makes one thirsty, doesn't it. it was so refreshing one almost fell asleep drinking. ~smile~

One of my favorite places to take a break, when working outside.

Spring will be here before you know it, and the flowers will once again bloom, I am looking forward to planting and gathering, aren't you!

(Last years flowers)

Have a restful evening,'
Sue

Monday Morning Musings.

And what am I doing sitting in a swing so early in the morning?

Okay! I know I need a pedicure, but who has time? lol
I usually like to sit by the pond in summer after my walk and have my devotions, but not today as I didn't get to take my walk this morning, because dh left really early and he doesn't like for me to be out walking by myself when he is not around. Sooooo....

I have a busy day ahead today, not to mention the planned week , so much so that I was beginning to feel a little anxious this morning. Do you ever get this way?  So where do I go when I feel anxious or overwhelmed with the cares of life?.... The Bible, God's Word has the answers not only for me but for you too.

Philippians 4:6-7~ Be careful for nothing: but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be known unto God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding , shall keep your hearts and mind through Christ Jesus.

While meditating on the above scripture, I looked out and both birds flew in the tree in front of me, I was immediately reminded of another scripture, and I  just looked up toward heaven, and smiled"thanking the Lord for his reminder of His love for me.

Does Mrs  Cardinal look worried today? or....(click on pics.)

how about Mr bluebird?
Matthew 10:31~Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Enjoy your day dear friends, and remember your value today!
Hugs,
Sue
p.s. After much prodding from me, my daughter Susan has decided to move into the neighborhood of Blogland, please feel free to visit her. I know you will be blessed! below is her link.
