When will I ever learn?

Saturday was errands day, Tractor Supply is one of our favorite stores, we are always looking for bargains, wow, did we ever find one, it was on potting soil, just in the nick of time too!

This is the week we will be making our hanging baskets for the porch, we are a little late this year, this photo is from last year! I haven't decided if I will go with ferns or wave petunias, I will know when by the end of the day. I think spring has decided to stay, it will be 80 degrees today.Yay!

Getting back to the great bargain, we found Miracle Grow 1cu.potting mix for two dollars, regularly priced at 8 to 9 dollars, a savings of 6 or 7 dollars. I figured what we saved will cover the cost of the plants! Yay!

why am I sitting here with a brace on my hand?

 Usually Tractor Supply will have men to load heavy material, but not Saturday, it was a woman who came to load, because of knee problems Mr P. cannot bend, so I volunteered to help her load 22, 34lb. bags, in my enthusiasm of such a deal I didn't realize the effect it would have on my already touchy wrist. Nothing hurt, until I was home, and was about to take a shower! Ouch! I could hardly move my hand especially my wrist. So Dh and I backtracked on what could have caused it, voila' the loading of the bags. For now the brace helps with mobility, and I am feeling so much better.

When, oh when will I realize that I am no spring chicken anymore.


  Other news, we had twins born yesterday, it's always so nice when a lamb is added, especially twins, This ewe is a good mother, aren't they cute. We separate them for a couple of weeks from the flock, for their safety so they aren't stepped on, sheep are so family oriented, this ewe  has not been a happy camper.
So off we go to our nurserytoday, one thing for sure, no picking up heavy stuff for me!~wink~

A little of this, and a little of that.

How often do you have dreams? It seems I have been having dreams more often these days. They have been really sweet dreams, in my dreams I have been having some wonderful meetings with old acquaintances, with actual conversations, so real that I wake smiling, only to wish that they had actually happened. ~smile~This has nothing to do with my post today, I was just wondering. I guess I must be getting old.~wink~

What an absolutely beautiful fall day we have had today, I worked in the green house, potting more pansies, I'll show later this week where they went, you might be surprised.~wink~

Building this green house for me was one of the nicest things Mr P has done. I love being out here next to the chicken coop,listening to the different sounds the chickens, turkeys, and guineas make.I guess you might say I am a true blue COUNTRY GIRL.


I decided it was time to start my exercise program of walking again, I walked 2 miles today and took some photos.
Tom was out strutting too.



I went by to see the donkeys, they always come running looking for treats.

This is my white, blue eyed baby, our other donkeys are brown with brown eyes.




While I was out walking Mr P. was getting the garden ready to plant strawberries, tomorrow, we, (DH and I) will plant 400 plants. I Just love my  farm boy on a tractor. Notice our trees are still green with a few hints of fall.

I am dreaming of these in a few months.

Even tho the calendar says spring , I know a lot of folks are having cold temps. and snow, I feel a little guilty about posting this when so many of you are still getting such cold weather... There is a danger here in the south, when we have an early spring.... more times than I like to remember, our buds have come out on our fruit trees like you see here, and then a frost, freeze warning is predicted by the weatherman, like we have for this week. And when that happens we wrap them with old sheets,  hope and pray.
We decided to try our hand at growing asparagus this year...Here Mr P. is putting the sets in the trench. You have to spread them out like a spider, with the crown just sticking above the ground. These are two year sets and we were told they will produce this year. Fingers crossed !!!
All laid in a row,..

This is a bed of onions, four different kinds,.... I feel a need to set the record straight,lol.... When I post of photos dh is the one who is always working,...... But I do help him, Yes! really I do. It just that he tells me  he doesn't like to take photos. The truth is he likes his picture taken, and I don't .LOL The garlic is growing nicely too! (painting the fence is on our to do list.) I am thinking about trying a Tom Sawyer trick here, Do you think I can pull it off?
We got our potatoes planted a couple of weeks ago,  they have sprouted and are coming up.
Our lettuce will be ready in a week or so. There is nothing any better than growing your own lettuce, so easy. If you have a pot, soil, sunshine, water, and seed, You can grow all kinds.
I have to tell you about these little guys. They are Violas, or jumping jack. Why the nickname?....They just jump all over your garden and yard. I have them growing every where, and I don't mind, as they let me know that spring is here. They will last through June, and you can eat the blossoms. Yes you can!
