Pear tree lane Farmhouse

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

Sue~

Thankful Thursday~

I am linking up with Iris at Grace Alone.Thank you for allowing me to be a part of TT.

Perseverance ... Webster says being persistant in spite of obstacles.
I am thankful today for the ability to persevere in spite of obstacles that were present today.

This week has been quite busy, and when my dh said the grapes were ready, I told him I thought I might need a break from all this canning, and I might wait until Saturday to do them. This was fine with him.So he called Mother and asked her when she wanted her grapes, she wanted them today.

She said she would be out about 9.a.m. to pick them up. Hubby and I picked them this morning and I decided I would go ahead and cook them so all she would have to do would be to make the jelly with the juice that I had gotten from the grapes.

I get this call about 9, it was mother telling me she didn't know when she would be out , that she had been detained. It seems she decided to go and get her driver's license renewed this morning as well as her car tags.

Two hours later the phone rings again, Yes! mother telling me she was home and was so stressed out because she had some problems getting her tags, because her car needed to be inspected first, and had to go and get that done first.. But thank theLord, she had no problems getting her license renewed.

I told her not to worry, she could pick the juice up the next day. I was so tired, and almost decided to clean the kitchen and go rest. But......

I knew she didn't need to have to worry with it, and since the majority of the work had been done. I decided to surprise her and finish the jelly.

I am so thankful that God gave me the strength to persevere, even though  my flesh was saying stop.

When I had finished, I called to check on her and to give her, the surprise. She said"Oh! honey you shouldn't have done it." I could tell she was relieved. I think Mother is like me having a case of burnout. lol

I am also thankful today, for all the veggies and fruits that Mother and I have been able to do this summer.

And now dear friends I  am happy to report, that I not only had enough grapes to do mother's , but mine too . God is so awesome.Thus....

I am  hoping to do my spaghetti sauce this weekend. and then I will put the canner up for another year.

I am so in the mood to put something around here that looks like fall, my favorite season.
Hugs,
Sue

Ephesians 6:18~ Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints

Thankful Thursday

Here is my picture of the day, it has nothing to do with my TT post, but I just think these guys are the cutest. They follow my dh every time he is out and  about. They should be in the pond swimming, but we have this giant turtle who harasses them so they only sit around the edge, and happily wait for the turtle to hibernate in late fall. What cowards they are, not really just smart, because we have seen that turtle sneak up and pull a full grown guinea under and have it or breakfast, lunch, and dinner.lol
I am so thankful  for many things, but what I am so thankful today for is an air condition home. We are still under the a loooong and hot heat wave. Every day the weatherman says "sorry folks tomorrow will be hotter than today". I'm thinking "can this be possible?"LOl

When we were first married, we didn'ant have air condition in our home, we relied on fans and windows open at night. But I so clearly  remember our first window unit we bought, and how it came about...

We were under a heat wave like this one, and were up all night trying to stay cool and keep our two young babies cool too. My dh husband said " if I live to see tomorrow I will have air condition". So the next day he went to J.C. Pennys, and bought us a window unit and did something he had not done before, Charged it.lol

Oh! my goodness! I can still remember how it felt, and how thankful we were.

I am also reminded today that there are people here in this great country, as well as over the world, who don't have air condition, and I choose to pray for them today while I am being thankful.

Hope you are staying cool, and enjoying your summer.
~Hugs, Sue
Psalms 105:1~ Oh give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples!

Thankful Thursday

These are the two angels who prayed for us,aren't they adorable?

What a busy and unusual week this has been, it also has been a faith affirming week.
I am thankful today for family and friends, that will take the time to encourage and pray with me over different circumstances that happen to be going on in my life.

You see, Tuesday we lost one of our brood cows who was four weeks away from delivery, it is a very hard thing to see one of your animals sick and not be able to make them well, especially when you do all that you know to do to help them. Even the Vet. could not save her.

The next night while sleeping in a safe bed, someone walks onto our property, from behind a locked gate, and steals our very special dog, Maggie. She was only four months old, and was one of the sweetest dogs we have ever had. Our hearts are broken, she was my dear husbands pal. When he drove the farm truck, she was with him.

Last evening I was sitting with dh and we were still grieving over our losses this week, the telephone rings. Daughter, Susan was calling as she does each evening, and you know how it is when you hear the voice on the other end of the telephone, if you are crying softly, you will begin to sob, and that is what I did.

She lives over two thousand miles away, so she could not jump in her car and run over to give comfort. The granddaughters were sitting beside her and heard of our sorrow, and wanted to talk.

After finding out the details through my sobs, they asked if they could pray for us.You should have heard those heartfelt prayers. Their Papa and Grandma needed some encouragement. Susan and both girls prayed, We were immediately comforted, and touched by their prayers.

What we found so amazing was that they each prayed not only for us, but for the thieves also. I had not prayed for them, because of being so hurt, and angry. But was reminded of what Jesus taught us in Matthew 5: 44,45~"But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,... "that you my be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
I also got a call from my dear Mother and sister, Mary who are also praying.

And now dear friends I ask for your prayers as well, not only for us, but for the ones who did this. I am asking God to touch their hearts and to set them free. I am also asking the Lord to make them so unhappy that they will bring Maggie home.

I try and make my blog happy, but if I am going to journal about my life, then I have to up front and honest about everything. Thank you for taking the time to read, and pray.

Blessings and hugs,
Sue
