~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

~One down and many to go~

Written by Sue, Wednesday,July 11, 2012                      cloudy, rain, humid & muggy, temps. high 80's
A few weeks ago, dh and I thought we would complete some projects we had been working on, it seems we were working forever, one was the fenced in garden beside the house.

This is a projects we started last year, and before we could complete it we found ourselves going to several other projects! I bet you don't do things like this, now do you?
I am happy to report that we have finally finished it, but we have been so busy with other projects that we haven't taken much time to plant. I do have some tomatoes, peppers, squash, eggplant, and cukes here. Did I just say we haven't planted, well, it sure sounds like we did. I think what I meant was we didn't fill the garden up, There, now that sounds better.

After we  disassembled the fence, scrape, painted it, and put back in place, we then repaired the beds as best as we could ,and filled them with new soil. We wanted to remove the old beds and raise them ,but our budget wouldn't let us, maybe next year, just maybe.~grin~
The next task was the most tiring, we laid plastic lining in walkway, and ordered, 2 tons,(now lets do some math here, that equals 4,000 lbs.) of peat rock, to which they dumped in the driveway. Now how do you suppose it got from the driveway to here.

 hmmmm! let's see....

This is the strongest, smartest, and sweetest man in the whole world! I do treasure his love and friendship. He hauled the rocks, I spread them with a shovel and rake! Really!!! I did, I pinky promise, all this was done when we were having record breaking temps. needless to say we were a little tired, Lucy was just as tired as she was supervising!
Excuse me while I take a bow! ~smile~

We worked until the sun went down and the  moon was visible, and I might add beautiful!
Here is the end result of a lot of toil and sweat! As you can see the beds are only partially filled with plants, that's okay, we plan to plant a fall crop. This truly was a labor of love!
We have other projects completed that I will show soon, but have had to put other planned projects on hold, due to the mishap with the leak in our wall. It seems that all of our downstairs' wood floors have got to be sanded, and refinished, this means emptying and packing most of our things downstairs. We bought boxes yesterday and have started packing.

Thank you so much for stopping by for a visit, and for taking the time to leave me such sweet notes.
Blessings,
Sue
