Pear tree lane Farmhouse

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

Expect the unexpected

Written by Sue, Monday, January 21, 2013,           a beautiful sunny day, temps. 50+ temps.

They say to always expect the unexpected, but this one I didn't expect....

Most everyone knows I have been busy trying to get things at the farmhouse back in order, two weeks ago this cabinet was one of my projects. Saturday while passing through I happened to look at my supposedly clean and organized hutch, and noticed some red sticky stuff on my dresser scarf, upon further investigation I found  shattered glass on both shelves along with this red gooey stuff.

~Story~
A Canadian friend, who knew how much I love Anne Of Green Gables, sent me a bottle of raspberry cordial. I had had it for a couple of years, and was just keeping it as a souvenir. Upon my investigation I discovered that it had exploded into a thousand pieces, I mean literally a thousand pieces.

There was slivers of glass everywhere in the cabinet, on both shelves, the cordial had drained outside on the buffet server,  down the back of it and had ran along the baseboard on my new floors. It was a mess to say the least. It took me 2 hours to find all that glass, and clean this mess up. Besides the raspberry cordial, not a dish nor glass was broken.
Add caption~These dishes were on the top shelf~

What I don't understand is how this bottle sat in this cabinet for three years, and withstood packing and unpacking and then just decided to explode. What I am thankful for is that it didn't explode in my hands while I was unpacking it and placing it in the cabinet. ~smile~

"There, there, sweetie everything is going to be just fine, Mama has you all cleaned and ready, now doesn't that feel better?"

From now own, I will drink the juice, and put colored water in the bottles. LOL.

Note# Thank you so much to all who visited my Notecard Party post. I am looking forward to getting to know my new friends.
Enjoy your day.
Sue

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makes me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8

"I have some good news and some bad news".

Written by Sue, Friday, June22, 2012                       Hot, humid, temps. high 90's afternoon thunderstorms.
"Which would you like to hear first?" Familiar words spoken often by Mr P. I always say, "give me the bad news first, because I am counting on the good news being so good that I won't remember the bad." ~smile~
So here is the bad news....
Last Saturday, as I was vacuuming, I noticed the floor by the utility closet was buckling, I opened up and found the floor was wet. Long story, short....Plumber called, leak in the wall found, and since it was Saturday, it could would not be fixed until Monday.... Water was cut off, leak stopped temporarily, and we were stranded  with no water, or so I thought...

This is the foyer, the water damage has reached all the way to the front door.
                                                     ~What a mess~~
~hoses, tubing and electrical cords eveywhere~

Now for the good news....

Dear husband, who can do just about anything, had installed two extra lines off of our water well for watering the flowers, etc...... all just a few feet from the house, and one hooks up to an outdoor shower. Woo hoo!!, "hold on" say what "no hot water", oh! well! at least we will be clean!!

Monday..... Plumbing fixed, insurance company called, paper work started.

Tuesday,.... a restoration company came out to set up machines to try and get water out of the flooring.

~amazing to watch~
 Adjuster comes to see damage.
Better news...
There was no mold nor mildew found, and what a blessing that was, the floors are drying out nicely.

When the men came to set the machines up I was right in the middle of making relish, one of the workers asked me to sell him a jar! He and the other workers went home with several jars of relish and jams., no charge. ~wink~

A real blessing  for me was that the cucumbers for the relish were the last veggies I would be preserving for at least a few weeks, as we don't know what has to be done to bring our oak floor back to what it should be.
Now here is the best news of all..
God loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so!!! 1John 4:11~ Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. Psalms 36:5~Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. He is always there for us in all situations!! He has blessed me with  a loving, supportive and encouraging husband. While weathering so many storms of life together, we have learned to lean on our Heavenly Father and each other! We have even joked about how we both are going to miss these "Big, "Loud",   machines. It seems they remind DH of riding in an airplane, to which he likes to sleep, my thought is dh has no problem sleeping anywhere. ~grin~

Enjoy your day,
love,
Sue

Expect the unexpected

written by Sue, Thursday, April 7, 2011
Wednesday started out like any other ordinary day, Mr P left to run errands while I started cleaning. Usually I turn my music on  while I am working, but  I opted for silence, or so I thought. While washing dishes, I heard this swishing sound in the breakfast room area. I walked over to the wall and leaned toward the floor., sure enough I heard that sound that all home owners dread. I knew there must be a line under the house that was leaking,  gushing. I was trying to remain calm, as I
Mr P. calm, cool, and collected! Me, frustrated!

called dh on his cell phone( I am so thankful for cell phones, and don't know what we did before them) Mr Cool, Calm, and Collected said "now just be cool, I am turning around and coming back, go cut the water off at the pump." Duh! now why didn't I think of that?  I was wondering why he said to remain calm? I thought I was being pretty calm, (trying to impress him, yes! after all these years  I still do.) I wonder.... if he had detected any thing in my voice, or if it was he who was not cool, and calm, after all it is possible you know, even though I call him Mr P, aka Mr. Perfect, I bet you have been wondering why I call him Mr P, well now you know. lol

I truly believe he is about as perfect as you can be, God chose him just for me, cause He knew who would keep me balanced. I always look forward to seeing him drive down the lane and him walking through the back  door, and hearing him say 'Hey, I'm home", he does everyday.,.LOL.... hmmmm!!

Truth is ...I could just see the ground flooded with water, and I imagined that it had been going on for who knows how long..... Wonder why we women are called "Emotional"!! lol

Long story short, plumber called, plumber came, plumber fixed it , and water back on, "Mama" is happy.
So how was your day? I hope you didn't have to call a plumber or a repairmen. lol
Hugs,
Sue
P.S.
I don't believe in happen stance. I believe that my daily steps are ordered by my Heavenly Father who loves and cares for me....... The plumber told my husband that it was a new leak. God cares He knows and He understands ALL.  In life we are going to have problems and situations that arise, but God is always in control. I can't imagine what would have happened if I had not heard that sound!
