Pear tree lane Farmhouse

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

Farmhouse news

Written by Sue, Wednesday, July 25, 2018,  thunderstorms, temps. 80's somewhat humid.

My! how summer is passing, I have finished most of my canning, just a few Lima beans and I will be done until fall when the grapes and apples are ready.

This gives me a break to finish some projects and much needed gardening, which I truly enjoy! My roses have done so well this year. This is one of them, isn't it pretty, I wish I knew the name.

Dh and I decided we would take a wee break this week, and do what ever we wanted, which we have been doing each day, sleeping a little later, lingering over devotions on the porch, and over breakfast. We have also been doing a little shopping  at two of our favorite stores, Lowe's where we found this great deal,(half price) on double knockout roses, there are 6 more in the car.

and Tractor Supply where I found these lovely planters, also half price.

We have also been shopping for a new refrigerator, I thought I had found one until I got home and realized it was not going to work, so much for relying on my judgement of measurements, so back to Lowe's with the right measurements. I'm sure none of you have ever done this before. ~Wink~

We are also getting some much needed rain today with cooler temps., still humid though.

I took these photos at about 5 p.m. today, the soil will be perfect for planting  the rose bushes tomorrow.

Result after 2 1/2 inches of rain., maybe the roses will get planted.

I am so happy to be back blogging, I have missed it and y'all so much. I also do instagram, sporadically, but blogging is my favorite way to stay in touch, I find it so much more personal. Why? I slowed down I have no idea, I took lots of photos and would have all these posts in my head but when evening came around I simply was to tired, told myself I would post tomorrow, and when tomorrow came it was old news, I guess it must be old age catching up with me. LOL

Enjoy your evening,
Hugs,
Sue

It's lovely to see a post pop up from you, Sue. Your header is so beautiful! Your home is gorgeous! We've been getting rain for the last 5 days after not having any for the month of July. It's perfect for planting your pretty knockout roses. I really like knockouts as well and surely they will bring you joy! ♥

Its so nice to get caught up with you Sue. I haven't canned a single thing this year.
My garden hasn't done that well this year.
Your stores are my favorite stores too. That is such a beautiful rose. My goodness. I love that color.
Enjoy your break.
Hugs from me to you,

Thank you for your comment on my blog post about Ernie. I am so sorry you have an elderly dog too, our Chance will be 14 and everyday is a gift.
That rose might be called Fire and Ice...so beautiful!

Those planters are adorable!!
That looks like some MAJOR rain! We got our share this past weekend ourselves. All the grass to mow now.

I’m glad you’re back blogging, too!
Rain... that is interesting because you usually don’t get rain in the summer or do you?
For some people Summer is lazy but not You! You work so hard and accomplish a lot! Glad you took some time off. Well deserved.

Your weather sound like ours...finally getting plenty of rain but leaving behind very humid air...oh well, summer in the south...what are ya gonna do, right? I wish I had learned to can when I was a girl...my mom did plenty of it but I never showed any interest in learning how. I know it's never too late, right? There is nothing like seeing a bunch of beautifully colored goodies in mason jars stored neatly on a shelf!

Your canning looks wonderful.
Beautiful rose.
One of my favorite places is Tractor Supply too. They have so many things that I didn't know I needed. : )

Sue, what a lovely quiet week! I am so thankful that we have had rain this week. The summer has been so dry! That rose is gorgeous. I love all the different colors blended together. Those planters are cute. I wonder if the Tractor Supply in the next town has then? I'm your newest follower :-)

Hi Sue, Thank you for visiting and commenting on my blog. It is always nice to get acquainted with new bloggers and I hope you will visit again. You are ambitious to get those nice canned goods done up. I think I want to can but then don't get it done but have frozen some things. Love to see the canned goods lined up though! That is a beautiful color of rose. Is that one a knock out? We had knockouts at our previous house and I have one here but it has not bloomed much and my climbing one on the arbor is growing all the way to the top but no blooms! The planters are so pretty! Do they have holes in them or do you put stones? Have a great week-end coming up! Nancy

It's a Sue rose! Yeah, I don't know the name either, but that's what I am calling it. ;-)

Blessings.

Hi Sue!

It's good to see you back blogging, you have been missed!

My goodness, you have been busy with canning. I'll bet it tastes so good in the winter months.

A break is always good, especially when you can get a good bargain! I can't believe all that rain, wow! No wonder your flowers are so beautiful, perfect weather for them...the rose is amazing!

Have a great week-end!

Hugs and Love,
Barb
