~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

~We've got company~

Written by Sue, Friday, July 20th, 2012              very hot, humid, thundershowers. 98 temps.
Guess who is sleeping upstairs in this bed?
Is it a bird?.... No
Is it a plane?... No
Is it superman? No
Okay! do you give up?
It's granddaughter#2, Miss M!!
We picked Miss M up yesterday and she is going to be here until Aug.6! She hasn't been here to visit in a while, she couldn't wait to get out on the farm. Late yesterday evening, before she came in she had hand fed all of the animals went fishing, caught some cat fish, brim, and bass. We stayed up way past midnight talking, and making plans. After her shower last night she had put on this wonderful lotion It smelled so wonderful, so guess who borrowed some after she had showered, yep! moi!and it is now on my shopping list. It is called Daisey, by Marc Jacobs! Isn't it nice to borrow stuff!

DH and I have decided that even though the house is in the process of being packed up, repaired from the water damage,
and given a new face lift,  we are going to take the time to make some memories(that includes packing together, to which she has already offered,Now if I can just wake her up from that beauty sleep lol). We both feel honored that a 19 year old would want to hang out with us old folks, lol! BTW I would only let my "best of friends" see my home in disarray like this. So "best friends" here is only part of this disarray. I also only let my "best friends" help pack too!~giggle~

The adjuster decided the water damage was so that all of the downstairs needed to be sanded, stained and refinished, thus getting estimates, packing and moving everything out is where we are at now. I am looking at weeks on end., as we have decided to paint while the furniture is out of the house.
And now choosing colors, decisions! decisions!
Here is some not so good news.....

You all have met my mom, Doris haven't you? Here she is bringing supper over to us Monday evening. She is so giving and does so many things for so many people, works at a dress boutique 3 days a week, and will be 85 her next birthday!
When she got home from work yesterday she found that someone had broke into her home, stole her TV, and jewelry. My mom lives in a very upscale neighborhood with security gates, and has an alarm system. And no one saw nor heard anything, or at least they would not tell!Go figure!!
Ephesians 4:28! He who has been stealing must still no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need. .. POWERFUL!!

My brother lives in her neighborhood, so she spent the night with him, I called to check on her this morning, she was back at her home sweeping up glass and waiting for the repair man. I asked how she was doing her reply was "I am fine". So when Miss M gets up we are going to go and see just how fine she is! Please pray for her, and the one who stole, that he will make things right!
Be blessed today
 "best friends"
Sue

Thank you to  all who stopped by and for those who left sweet notes at Vee's Note Card party.

My prayer is to be able to say like the Apostle Paul said. in Philippians 4:12... I have learned the secret of being content in any situation....Philippians  4:12~......

It's so wonderful that your granddaughter is visiting!

Your painting & floor refinishing
looks like a lot of work. I know when everything is complete it will be beautiful.

Your poor Mother! I will keep her in my prayers.

Smiles,
Carol

So glad you have some happy things to think about even when you are in the mist of damage to your lovely home and evil that has invaded your sweet mothers life.
We are living in sad times. As I do my Bible study I think we have learned nothing from history and the suffering that happens when we turn our back on God.So goes the nation so we go.

Oh Sue! My house was broken into and ransacked when we lived in Miami, and it makes you feel so violated! I'm just glad your mom was not home at the time. Enjoy your granddaughter. You two will be a good help to your mom I know.

I am so glad your grand daughter is visiting. Gosh your poor Mom, I know how horrible that is and the feelings.
She is such a trooper though. Have a great time with your visitor and don't over do it. I am glad your house is getting a face lift, at least you are making lemon aid. :)

Good morning Sue! How exciting for you to have your grand daughter there for such a nice long visit. I am not surprised at all that she would want to do that. Seems like such a wonderful place to visit. And yes, what a lot of work to fix the damages, and yet a nice face lift and color changes etc. to look forward to when it is done. Your poor mom! How scary and overwhelming for her. I am glad your brother lives close by. Kind of scary that it would happen at all in the secure surroundings she is in. I love btw that she was bringing dinner over for you! What a blessing that woman has been for you....She's soo beautiful btw...for ANY age, but especially for 85. I will lift her in prayer over this situation. Thank you for all your support and prayers. I appreciate it so. Have a good week-end! HUGS

So sorry about your mom's break in! How horrible for her things to be taken. Your grand daughter is really sweet to want to spend time like that with you. Hope you all have a great time! Can't wait to see the new colors and all the new arranging I'm sure you'll be doing once everything is complete! Loved your photos from the card party. They were really pretty!

How awful that someone would do such a thing...break in to your mother's home. What a violation! I know that she loves the Lord because she's maintaining so well. God love her and I will certainly pray that this is resolved. I'm so glad that she wasn't home!

Yay for a grandgirlie sleeping in the guest room! What a pretty one, too. Hope that you are able to bring some cheer to your mom's day.

As for the house...well, nothing ever gets done without a right proper mess that's what I have learned about this life. I'm sure that the new paint will make it all worth the while and the fluffing afterward. Such a lot of work, though, at a time when you're already so busy. Glad that grandgirlie has arrived to help. They move a lot faster I'm told.

Hope that you find ways to have some good fun in addition to the work. For her, the joy will just be spending time with you, I'm sure.

How sad to hear that your mother's house was broken into! It is not the "things" as much as the disturbing thought that someone was able to get into your haven. I pray that she senses God's peace and protection!

What delightful news that your granddaughter is visiting! I am sure that she will be a big help to you and to your mom...and I'm sure that you'll both wrap her in love and she'll be thrilled to be there! Who wouldn't want to hang out with you, Sue? I sure would!

Thank you for your sweet comment this morning! I like your prescription! :D

And, yes I do know the perils of remodeling! Boy do I know! And in a very small way, it's like having a baby. There's pain and work involved, but when it's all over with, you (mostly) forget that part and fall in love with the baby.

What mixed emtions you must have with Miss M and your Mom.
Showing Miss M how to reach out to loved ones, is a great lesson.

Okay, Sue~ there is no way your mom is almost 85!! She is gorgeous! Bless her heart, thatmust have been so scary for her.
I see where you get your looks, you have some good genes in your family!
That is sweet about your granddaughter... I used to spend the night with my grandmother a lot after my grandfather passed away. And I was in my early twenties... so you never outgrow your grandparents! :)

Oh dear - your poor mum!!
What a horrible scare for her and your family!
Hope they catch that villain quicksmart.
Praise God your mother was out and not hurt!
Sorry to hear they took her precious things :-(

I was always worried about my mum living on her own, and glad when she moved in with my sister at age 93.

Your grand-daughter is going to have a ball with you and Mr P!
How lovely for you to have her staying - I bet you two will get up to some mischeif together ;-D
love and hugs..Trish xx

Oh no. I hate it that she was the victim of theft. My MIL was burglarized (and vandalized), and it was so difficult for her to get past it. They violated her home and sense of security, and in her words stole from her granddaughters because they took family treasures.

Love the passage application. I have a hard time with theft. It makes my blood boil. I am glad that your brother lives near her and that she wasn't physically assaulted in the process.

I also love it that your GD is visiting! She will be just the ray of sunshine as you go through the process of packing, etc. because of the damage.

Someday, I hope I have one of those granddaughter things. I have heard they are very wonderful!

Hi Sue, Oh my heart soared to see your granddaughter with you, helping you with all the packing etc. Wish I lived close cause I'd be over in a heartbeat-I'm an expert at helping friends pack up(helped two ladies this summer). I'm heartbroken at reading what happened to your mom's house-so scary, just glad she wasn't home. I'll be praying the Lord's protection over her and His justice on the one who broke in and stole.
Love coming by to see you my friend.
Hugs, Noreen

How unsettling - the robbery. But as you said, your mother is a trooper.

And how wonderful that you have live-in help with the packing! I'm now leaving the comment form to find out WHAT happened to your beautiful farmhouse....

It's been a while since I have visited blogs and I am so sorry to hear about your water damage but I like that you see an upside to it!

How wonderful special for your granddaughter to some visit, it sounds like your having such a great time. I know I enjoy my granddaughter and I hope when she is older she will still want to be with me.

I am terribly sorry about what happened to your mother. How scary! I am so glad she wasn't home when this happened. What is wrong with people that they do this? I will keep her in my prayers and I hope she will feel safe once again in her home.

Oh, I hope my precious Granddaughter will still want to be with her CiCi and Poppa when she is 18 years old. What a compliment to you and your Hubby!

So sorry abut the upheaval at your house. Water damage, ugh, but hopefully you will be more than happy with the final results!

And, your Mom is the cutest and I cannot believe that someone broke into her home and further more, cannot believe someone doesn't know something about it.

Blessings!

How incredible that you would come over and visit me in the middle of all the stuff you have going on at your house!

I'm guessing you're in the middle of painting about now (if you made up your mind about paint color, etc.)

I KNOW it isn't easy living with the mess - but it's going to be like a new house when all is finished - if that's any consolation!

Hi Sue!

Grandchildren are just the best guests!! I know that you will make the best of every minute!

I think it's kind of exciting to get a new make-over! Can't wait to see the finished project!

We have had so many break-in's in our area too! Your mother will be blessed, because she is such a good person, and so willing to serve others. She must be an amazing woman - I think it must run in the family... ;0)

Hugs,
Barb
