Pear tree lane Farmhouse

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

Sue~

~A most delightful gift~

Written by Sue, Saturday, August, 31, 2019,     sunny, warm. 80's a very pleasant day.
Blogging has given so many wonderful friendships, I consider myself so blessed.

When I wrote my first blog post in 2008, (on my first blog) the first person who welcomed me into this wonderful neighborhood was Vee, from a haven for Vee, I was so jubilant seeing that first comment, I thought I had arrived, never in my fondest dreams did I ever think that anyone would be interested in anything I would have to say.
Vee and I quickly became friends and have remained so ever since, she is one of the most respected and beloved bloggers.

She recently had a giveaway,.. I won, the gift was a book written by a woman, (Mesannie Wilkins) who was a self proclaimed "Saddle Tramp".  I received this most gracious gift Tuesday, my dh was almost as excited as I was, and wanted to read it after me, when I mentioned this to Vee, she suggested we read it together, a suggestion well received by Mr P., after all we read our devotions together each day anyhow.

We had not had a chance to start before Friday afternoon, and after reading the first two chapters, we decided to take our time and not rush through this book, we wanted to have time to let all of her adventures on this journey  soak in as we both are having so many questions. Her journal of her 7,000 mile trip from Maine to California, with her horse and dog as her companions is what this book is about.

After reading  two chapters, we found ourselves laughing, asking questions,I even cried, being amazed at this woman's hutzpah after all the mishaps in her life, even shaking our heads, and asking more questions. While reading you feel as though you are right there with her and her companions.

One of the most amazing things we both spoke of was of how Mesannie and her companions were so well received by most strangers and of how they were invited  to spend the night in their homes, and barns, and  also were fed. God was surely with them on this journey.

Look at that smile, in this book I love how she handles the situations on this journey, I am learning so much.

It is Saturday morning and we have already read 4 chapters with plans to read more this evening, so much for slow reading. ~wink~
Thank you, Vee, for your most delightful gift.
I don't usually post another post until I have visited those who commented on my last post, and caught up with friends but today was an exception! Thank you for visiting.
Wishing everyone a most blessed and happy Labor Day weekend.
Sue

Blogging friends are so wonderful! From gifts to prayers, advice and love! This is how I feel, too!
I just love the title of this book. Recommendations from people who I admire or someone who I respect, is a great way to expand my horizons.

Thank you Sue for being there for my family. Your support through prayers has touched my whole family. ♥😘

I have always envied people who had the desire and courage to undertake such a trek as she did. I've always been too afraid of the "what ifs"!!! I am assuming this lady took her trip maybe many years ago?????? I was just wondering since it's so hard to trust people these days. There are certainly many wonderful and truly good people one could meet along the way, but today there just seems to be so many more risks to do something like this. So wonderful that you and your hubby are enjoying the book together. And congrats on winning the giveaway!

Lucky you to win the giveaway. : )
I've been blog friends with Vee for many years. Ken and I had the greatest pleasure to meet her and John some years back. She is a dear friend.

It just makes me happy to know that you and Mr. Pear Tree Lane are reading this book together. It lends itself to that kind of an experience for sure. She was a remarkable, tough woman. I greatly admire her courage.

(My niece does this sort of thing even today taking bicycle journeys on her own through Europe or camping all by herself, It does not make me very happy I must admit. I leave her with The Lord and pray.)

That is so neat and blogging has brought so many wonderful people into my life as well. Most, I've never met, but they are such dear friends. What a neat idea to read the book together. I cannot even imagine a 7000 mile trip by horse, shucks, I can't imagine a 7000 mile trip driving. Will have to check this book out on Amazon and perhaps I'll read it as well. Happy Labor Day!

Happy Labor Day dear Sue, I loved reading this post as just recently hubby and I have read a book together at night before lights out. It was so enjoyable. I am the reader in our family and I think he liked this new tradition. Vee is a wonderful blogger, one of the sweetest I met when I first starting blogging. As you know my posts lately have been few and far between, so I'm going over to visit her now. May your coming week be filled with fruitfulness, in your garden and in your lives.
Love,
Noreen

I wonder if my husband would enjoy this book. He's always wanted to be a cowboy and he has a saddle in his office. I'm just not sure he has read any books about a female character.
