Pear tree lane Farmhouse

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

~The calm after the storm~

Written by Sue, Sunday, September 8, 2019  hot, humid, 90's
For us, sheep quietly grazing in the pasture, confirms the calm after the storm.

Just a note to say, how thankful dh and I are that we had minimal damage during hurricane Dorian!
The winds blew some of the screens out on the porch, plants a little weary, lots of rain.
It has taken us  the last few days to repair and clean porch, pick up debris surrounding the pond.
Next we must find and repair  the leak in the roof, which leaked through the ceiling in the living room.  A leak is so minor compared  to complete loss of homes and life.

However our neighbors in the northern part of our state, suffered extensive damage, we also had a lot of tornadoes touch down inland and  along the coast  way before the storm came, which also did much damage. Our thoughts and prayers are with all affected with the loss of family members and homes.

Romans 12:15~ Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.

Thank you to all who were concerned and  prayed!

So pleased to hear that you had minimal damage. Thanking God for His blessings in your life. Praying for those who lost so much. Take care.

Thank you for touching base, Sue! I have wondered how things went. So glad that there is no major damage. A roof leak is plenty. Hope it is easily found. John would always say, “Think like a drop of water.” 😉 Praying for everyone to get back up and going soon. (Poor Bahamas...things will not ever be normal again for way too many.) In spite of the storms and tornados, states were greatly blessed by the staying Hand of God. Isaiah 43:2

I am so glad you didn't have more storm damage, Sue. It is so scary how much damage a direct hit can do--my heart aches for the Bahamians. We used to fly over to Nassau all the time when I lived in FL..also to Bimini and Paradise Island. So sad. xo Diana

Very thankful to hear you had minimal damage and you can clean up what was damaged. Hope that leak can be found and taken care of easily, too. Sad for folks who were devastated by the effects of Dorian. Hope your new week is a good one!

Thank you for visiting me, Sue! It was NICE to see your comment and thank you for the Anniversary well-wishes. Happy Anniversary to you both as well!

Also...thank you for mentioning my Momma. The loss of her daily presence in my life has been PROFOUND.

I'm glad you have weathered the storms. That's what life is about...holding fast until the storms pass us by. God is always good...even when the clouds turn dark and the rains come. Joy ALWAYS returns...

Thank you again for stopping by. I've been "away" for quite a's good to find my way home again!

Oh so glad you did not have a lot of damage. Here in Tennessee we usually get rains and winds from those storms but I guess the way it traveled we did not even get a couple of drops. Love your porch and the curtains. I have them on my deck and was just thinking yesterday that I will be taking them down and washing for the winter. Again, glad all is well.

Thank you for letting us know how it went for you. I was thinking about all my blogging friends in the path of Dorian and praying for safety. The devastation in the Bahamas is truly overwhelming.

Scary... glad it's over.
Your porch looks peaceful, even with the damage.

I'm so glad that you had minimal damage, Sue. Yes, a leak is nothing compared to losing one's home, is it?
I loved seeing your home all decked out in Fall happiness in your previous post. It all looks so cozy and comfortable.
I just can't think about decorating with our high temperatures here in Texas. Maybe if it ever gets down into the 80's, I can some some Fall decor. In the meantime, it's sunflowers for me!!

I'm so glad you did not have much damage, although a leaky roof can be a big deal. I love the curtains on your porch. How nice it must be to sit out there with a good book and a cool drink. You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.

Yes, so grateful you did not have even more damage. Summer and Sabrina and Rayne went through the hurricane Maria and barely survived it.
Hurricanes are serious business - but I love those gauze looking curtains on your porch! I’ve long longed for porch curtains......
