~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

 Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 365

From this Side of the Pond

What's something you resolved to do this year? Have you done it?
Oh! My! there are several things that are on my priority list that I have resolved to accomplish this year:
1~To read more, working on that!

2~Be more faithful in something that I enjoy so much, and that is blogging, I am not doing to well in that area, sometimes I go for days and not open my computer, I have lots of excuses but they are not good ones. However I am an avid gardener and enjoy being outside in my garden, by the time I come inside, work on cleaning, cooking  I am so tired, all I want is to go to bed, to which I blame the aging process on.

3~I also have resolved to be a better student of the Bible, working on that too! I am so thankful for His Word, it is my lifeline, especially in times like these.

4~ I had resolved in January to stay in touch with friends and family by the post mail, that has been short lived because of Covid 19! I am not giving up, I know we have texting, e-mail, but there is something so special about receiving a letter or card in the mail.
2~ Where do you find Quietude?
Relaxing on the deck by the pond observing beauty created by our heavenly Father!

My favorite place is sitting in the swing on the screened porch anytime  day or night.

3~A friend asked this question on her Facebook page and said I could borrow for Hodgepodge...You're only allowed to buy 5 things at the grocery store, and all must start with the first letter of your first name. Whatcha buying?
Soup, seafood, salad dressing, sandwich bread, sweet potatoes.
4~The television show, Survivor, the Gloria Gaynor song,'I Will Survive', Survival mode, Survival of the fittest... pick one and discuss.

Mr P. and I are in survival mode for now, busy in the garden, seeds have been planted, weeding now, planning for summer and fall harvest. I am making plans to preserve the fruits and veggies we are growing.

A little project I completed yesterday, these English peas were planted a few weeks ago I weeded them, put up stakes with twine so they could start climbing, I will come back next week and add three more rows of twine, this makes picking the pods easier, also makes weeding easier. Mulch was added to control weeds, and keep moisture in. Today I will be transplanting Zinnias between the rows.  At the end are carrots and radishes.

We had some late frosts, that hurt some tender plants , we are preparing to replant them, others are thriving .MrP was busy this morning discing the garden to replant. Be still my heart, I love my 'Farm Boy'
5~ Share a favorite quote or saying about strength.
I have memorized so many Bible verses that speak of strength, and quote them so often.
Philippians 4: 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
II Samuel 22:33
Psalm 46:1
Habakkuk 3:19

6~ Insert your own random thoughts here.
I have some thoughts on this pandemic that has plagued our country and the world, but that would take pages and pages!
I will just say this.
"This too shall pass", Not one thing happens that is not noticed and cared about by our heavenly Father,in our personal lives, as well as life in general!  God has placed so much beauty all around us.

This is the view from my kitchen window, the humming birds entertain me as I wash dishes while admiring the roses., the birds and squirrels via for sunflower seeds. I see them carrying on as they do each season, trusting that their creator will take care of them, I think there is a lesson for me to be learned here.
,

Psalm 112:7 He will not be afraid of evil tidings, his heart is stedfast, trusting in the Lord
Until next time,
Love from me to you
Sue

Good Morning Sue,
So nice to read your hodgepodge. I didn't know it was still around. I am glad you are doing well. Your garden looks lovely. Yes, I will be canning much more food this year than I did last year. I have always enjoyed it. I am so glad you are doing well.
It was nice to stop by and visit.

Oh Sue! Your views are so beautiful and I am so jealous. We don't even have green grass here yet...and there you are planting and weeding already. Your porch is beautiful and your gardens are gorgeous.
Lovely to see a blog post from you-xo Diana

I agree with your lifeline for sure. Your screened in porch looks like such a peaceful place to sit and be still. I love the view you have when washing dishes. A lesson for me to learn too. Beautiful garden and looks like you will have plenty of produce. Wish I gardened but I guess it just isn't my thing ;)

Your garden is so neat and lovely. And your views are gorgeous, you live in a beautiful place! I grew up with a screened in porch, and still miss having one. What a huge help yours will be now.

Lovely post, Sue! I enjoyed every word of it, and the photos are glorious too. Both of your "quiet" locations are beautiful and ones I would enjoy retreating to.

Your Scriptures on strength and random thought are wonderful. So encouraging. Thank you for sharing!

Looks like a perfect place for quietude. You list of food sounds good. Way to go with your survival mode and working on the garden. Like your quote. Also I love the view from your kitchen window.

Sue, I've been gone so long from blogging that I did not know about Hodgepodge Wednesday. The first question answers for me would be nearly identical to yours. I have started a new Bible study, I have learned to make napkins with mitered corners, and I have learned to knit. I am picking up books again, which is fun.

Your front porch is so lovely. I have a favorite spot near the creek at my place.

Grocery store items: Kale, Kiwi, kitty litter, kidney beans, and kombucha

Thank you for your kind note, Sue. I love blogging. I do not know why I ever stopped. Maybe the computer was too slow? I did get a new one for Christmas, so now I should keep it up. I hope my sister Sharon will start up again too.

Blessings, Kathi

Your garden and plants are beautiful! Someone has a "green thumb"! We love growing vegetables, too, and we also grow blackberries and blueberries.

I've often wished I had a screened in porch... Perhaps one day.

Hi Sue! Say, if you're needing an excuse, I'm your gal -- aider and abettor of procrastinators everywhere. (*grin*)
Everything looks so lovely; I believe I could happily live the rest of my days on your screen porch.

I have a constant goal to read 100 books a year. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. It's not a big deal if I make it or not, it just gives me a goal. Another one of my goals is to send out more happy mail, whether that's a nice note or just something fun for someone to open in the mail. In one of my groups, a lot of people are doing RAKs (Random Acts of Kindness) and everytime I get one, I send one out. Who couldn't use a little happy in the mail?

Oh my, your yard/garden is just gorgeous! I could take my vacation right there. LOL No wonder it is your quiet space.

I stopped over from the Wednesday Hodgepodge and I'll be back again!

I really enjoyed reading your Hodgepodge Sue. Wonderful resolutions and I love those verses. Your porch is such a beautiful place. How lovely to enjoy quiet there. You are doing great things in that garden! Hope the rest of your week goes beautifully!

I don't know how you would have the time or energy for blogging at all, with all of the planting and beautiful places surrounding your home to enjoy and care for. If I had the energy and the lovely places that you have, I would probably never come inside except to eat and sleep! Love your pond scene with the geese...are your geese nesting now? Ours are, at least I think they are, but lately they both are spending more time on the shore and she is not on the nest as much (we can't see the nest from here), so I am wondering if something happened. I hope the eggs/goslings are safe and okay, but that again is something that we have to place in God's hands! We have enough on our own plate to be concerned about. God certainly stays busy, doesn't He? We are so blessed.

Such beauty there and it did not happen by chance. A gardener and farmer worked hard. So that you don't have energy for blogging is no surprise to me. I am blessed by the photos and your words. Many blessings to you in return.

Beautiful post and beautiful view from your window. I am extremely grateful to know that this will all pass...and my prayers during this passing time is that people will reach out to God and give HIM the glory that HE deserves.

Ahhhh... again I find peace and beauty here on The Farm!
Your gardens are like works of ART!

Our weather hasn't permitted us to plant yet...next week though!
Same with the Hummers. They are on their way back, soon I hope.

Your gardens look good already! You have such a pretty place! :)

This is a beautiful and heart warming post. And your yards and porch are simply gorgeous. I could definitely be at peace there. I enjoy sitting on our deck and looking out at the pond or watching the birds at the feeders...at least until the hot summer months come and then it's too hot to enjoy except in the really early a.m. Your garden is immaculate, as is the rest of your kingdom. You are definitely blessed! Stay well:)

Morning Sue,
Lovely post as always. You and hubby have been very busy I see. Love the pic with all
your rose bushes. I love roses, especially the knock out variety, as they have worked
best for us here in Florida. I have lots of baby pink ones blooming right now and they
are so pretty.
Glad you and your honey are doing well hon, and it was good to see you post again.
I could relate to the #1 question.....we finally launched our print your own card website
a few weeks back, only took us 15 years. lol But as you well know God has his timing.
So it was nice to have that off the list, course, it will be a work in progress, and is
keeping us busy during this time of lock down.
Take care,
Blessings,
Nellie

Sue, your "s" grocery list tickled me. I don't know if I could think of 5 things that start with "g" - gum, gumbo (does that count), goldfish crackers, gin (bwahahaha), gelatin - I think it is time to change my name! ♥ xoxo
