Pear tree lane Farmhouse

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

"Savoring" moments

Written by Sue, December 31, 2012                     partly sunny cool temps. 50's.. a beautiful day is in store..
The view from my kitchen window this morning.

On this last day of 2012, God took the time to paint me a beautiful picture, reminding me once again of His Majestic Glory, also to remember to "savor" moments of each day. Sometimes they come early in the day, other times throughout the day, sometimes they come at the end of the day. You see "savor" was my word for 2012,  I like taking a word, or phrase for the new year, many times "savor" caused me to pause, take a deep breath, and just "savor" the moment. ~smile~ With all of the new technology, and busy schedules, it is so easy to just be "to busy". I am sure there were moments that should have been savored, but because of my busyness I missed it, but for every moment that was savored, I am so thankful.

One thing I found out was that no matter what circumstances were going on in my life, these moments would come,(especially during the remodeling. ~smile~) and I knew "WHO" had sent them, because "HE" loves me, this I know for the Bible tells me so.  I am especially thankful for my beautiful sunrise this morning. God's timing is perfect!!
I am so looking forward to this new year, and of more savoring moments, and of my new word or phrase.

My prayer for you on this beautiful last day of 2012, is that your savoring moments are many, trust me they will come, because God loves you too, and He will send them your way.
"Wishing you a most blessed and Happy New year"
Much love,
Sue
James 1:17~ Every good gift, and every perfect is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation, or shadow of turning.
p.s.
Here is another savoring moment for me,(taken this morning)this last day of 2012,  I am savoring it's last day, yes, there are a few unopened presents under the tree, Dh and I are saving them for tonight. Last evening dh heard a noise and he found that an ornament had fallen among other fallen ornaments. I would say that when this happens, it is about time to pack it away, wouldn't you. lol

A journey of journeys

Written by Sue, Sunday, Dec.10, 2012            sunny, a warm day, temps. 72

What a life!! He watches me while I work. This is Jack, and he has graciously decided to adopt DH and I, (he really did adopt us, and we are so happy he chose us).
Hello  everyone,
Hope all is well with you, I wanted to stop by and give an update on our remodeling project.
We have gone from this...

He rolled the walls, and

I painted all of the trim, if in the future you see anything white, please note, moi painted it. I decided I wanted to save Mr P. some money, he figured almost $1500.
What's that you asked? Did we have any consultations while doing this project. uhhmm!!

I'm not telling and don't  ask Jack, he's not talking either., he knows who butters his bread

Getting everything covered before the floor guy comes, and am I glad we covered this system.

 WHEW! what a mess!!
The dust from the sander  put saw dust all over the newly painted walls, it stuck like glue..lol It took DH and I, 4 days to remove it. Did I mention what a mess they made?!!!!
Friday was moving in day."So long PODS, I hope we never have to meet again."
To This.....

Yesterday was spent cleaning said furniture, the 40 plus boxes stored upstairs have yet to be unpacked! As of today no Christmas decorations have been put up, though DH has promised me a live tree this week.~smile~Last night as I walked through the house relishing in the fact that this journey is almost over and that the house  was once again clean, and as I looked about I also realized that what I saw was just that ... a house...

The above photos are photos of a "HOUSE",....
To me what makes a "HOME" is when "LOVE" is placed all about, which I am so looking forward to doing. There will be memories placed throughout of  family photos, and of gifts that were lovingly given by family and friends. Gifts that say "I love you, and I care for you." I will add my small touches that say "I love you back, and you are always "WELCOMED HERE". Our homes should reflect our own individual "hearts", at least this is what I try to do.

I will also once again be pulling pots and pans out of the cabinet, busying myself in the kitchen baking something that smells so homey, hoping to rid our home of that fresh paint smell!~AHH~...
It will also give me a chance to give my new farmhouse sink a workout. The sink was on my wish list for a long time, DH decided now would be a great time to get it installed.  Keep in mind that when the sink was bought and installed we didn't know about the two large windows that had to be replaced. Knowing me, I would not have got the sink, because I am so frugal. ~grin~

This has been a journey of journeys, I have learned so much not only about remodeling, but about myself as well. I firmly believe that God is in control of our life. This remodeling was not of our choosing, a tiny little leak in a pipe within a wall took us on this long journey, and if this little leak had not been found  we would not have known about a more serious problem and that was of two picture windows that had been leaking water in the walls, which was beginning to cause mildew, and we all know that this would have led to "MOLD", thus health problems. Our home is only 12 yrs. old, we wondered how this could happen, the contractor informed us that the windows had been improperly installed.

 The first one installed!

Well Dear Friends, this is what we have been up to the last six months, and as I leave tonight, I am so thankful that this journey is almost completed, and am now wondering what new adventures and new journeys are ahead for us, one thing for sure, God is always with us, He never leaves us to travel the journeys alone, whether it is health problems, death, financial, family, or just a small leak in a wall problem. He makes a way for us to finish our journey, and in so doing prepares us for the next one.
Until next time
Much love,
Sue
p.s. they say hind sight is 20-20, I am now wishing I had posted more often of this journey, this might have been a shorter post. LOL You think? nah no way!!t
Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012.                  Sunny, temps. 50's, a beautiful Thanksgiving Day

 Sue

~What have we been doing?~

Written by Sue, Wednesday, August 8, 2012.....              cloudy, humid, temps. 89
If I told you all that we had been up to, it would fill a book, so here are some  highlights...
photo shoots..
mowing the lawn...
More photo shoots, Yes, those are Miss M's real eyelashes, and she didn't inherit  them from her grandmother. lol
Picking and...

canning corn

I was on my way to the herb garden and who do you think was climbing over the herb garden fence. Yep! Peter Rabbit he not only likes Mr McGregor's garden he likes mine as well! "Naughty boy, Peter".

I preceded to the garden not knowing if he had left me anything. Well, it seems Peter has been well taught by his mother to not be so greedy. I gathered some lemon thyme, one of my favorite thyme's! smells so lemony.

Since Peter Rabbit left some herbs I will now willingly share with him. besides he left me something in exchange, free fertilizer  ~wink~

I also gathered some sage, and
sweet marjoram, they were then

washed and spun in the.. salad spinner
placed  on paper towels on the counter to finish drying. One of the most rewarding sites is to gather herbs, veggies, and fruits from your own little spot on this beautiful earth that God created for His children! I worship and adore my Creator for He alone provides for my every need. "Thank you heavenly Father for all of my blessings."

I then tied them in bundles,
and hung them to air dry for a few weeks.Do you see my cayenne peppers drying too?

We are now waiting  for these three little "darlings" to arrive tomorrow. It has been quite a while! Lots of plans have been made.

Hope you are enjoying, and
"Savoring"  your summer days.
Blessings,
Sue
Psalm 90:12~ Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

~We've got company~

Written by Sue, Friday, July 20th, 2012              very hot, humid, thundershowers. 98 temps.
Guess who is sleeping upstairs in this bed?
Is it a bird?.... No
Is it a plane?... No
Is it superman? No
Okay! do you give up?
It's granddaughter#2, Miss M!!
We picked Miss M up yesterday and she is going to be here until Aug.6! She hasn't been here to visit in a while, she couldn't wait to get out on the farm. Late yesterday evening, before she came in she had hand fed all of the animals went fishing, caught some cat fish, brim, and bass. We stayed up way past midnight talking, and making plans. After her shower last night she had put on this wonderful lotion It smelled so wonderful, so guess who borrowed some after she had showered, yep! moi!and it is now on my shopping list. It is called Daisey, by Marc Jacobs! Isn't it nice to borrow stuff!

DH and I have decided that even though the house is in the process of being packed up, repaired from the water damage,
and given a new face lift,  we are going to take the time to make some memories(that includes packing together, to which she has already offered,Now if I can just wake her up from that beauty sleep lol). We both feel honored that a 19 year old would want to hang out with us old folks, lol! BTW I would only let my "best of friends" see my home in disarray like this. So "best friends" here is only part of this disarray. I also only let my "best friends" help pack too!~giggle~

The adjuster decided the water damage was so that all of the downstairs needed to be sanded, stained and refinished, thus getting estimates, packing and moving everything out is where we are at now. I am looking at weeks on end., as we have decided to paint while the furniture is out of the house.
And now choosing colors, decisions! decisions!
Here is some not so good news.....

You all have met my mom, Doris haven't you? Here she is bringing supper over to us Monday evening. She is so giving and does so many things for so many people, works at a dress boutique 3 days a week, and will be 85 her next birthday!
When she got home from work yesterday she found that someone had broke into her home, stole her TV, and jewelry. My mom lives in a very upscale neighborhood with security gates, and has an alarm system. And no one saw nor heard anything, or at least they would not tell!Go figure!!
Ephesians 4:28! He who has been stealing must still no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need. .. POWERFUL!!

My brother lives in her neighborhood, so she spent the night with him, I called to check on her this morning, she was back at her home sweeping up glass and waiting for the repair man. I asked how she was doing her reply was "I am fine". So when Miss M gets up we are going to go and see just how fine she is! Please pray for her, and the one who stole, that he will make things right!
Be blessed today
 "best friends"
Sue

Thank you to  all who stopped by and for those who left sweet notes at Vee's Note Card party.

My prayer is to be able to say like the Apostle Paul said. in Philippians 4:12... I have learned the secret of being content in any situation....Philippians  4:12~......

~Just chillin out~

Written by Sue, Tuesday, July17, 2011                       hot, humid, temp 98, heat index 105
Since most of us are under a heat wave, I thought I might cool things down for all of us. These photos were taken  Christmas 2010, which is a rarity here in the South. Granddaughter Katie's birthday is on Dec. 26, her prayer and wish was to have snow! There is not enough words to describe her excitement when it began to snow! Never under estimate  the prayer of a child. She didn't just pray for snow, she believed it was going to snow. A lesson for us adults!
My note cards for July are  called.....
~Snow days at the farm~

There! now, are you feeling a bit cooler, I know I am. Seasons come and go but one thing for sure, our Lord remains steadfast! Hebrews 13:8~ Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and  today, and forever.
Stay cool,
Sue
