Pear tree lane Farmhouse

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

~My favorite season is upon us~

Written by Sue, Wednesday, Sept. 18th, 2024  ~ sunny, warm, temps. 70, great September day!

Hello Dear Friends,

Hope all is well with everyone, we have had an extremely busy summer here at the farm, our summer vegetables have been gathered and preserved.

and we are planning for fall crops, i.e. collards. turnips and other cool weather crops. It is a never ending adventure, but so rewarding especially since grocery stables have increased in price. There is one thing for sure, we all have to eat.

My Mother continues to have a few health issues, but she keeps going, no matter, such an encouragement to us all.

My favorite season is arriving , I can see the trees beginning to change their colors just a wee bit for me! Autumn colors are reflected in my choices of wardrobe, decorations,

flowers, zinnias my favorite flower, it was the first flower I ever planted, I was introduced to them by my paternal grandmother many moons ago, she taught me how to plant and take care of them, I save seed and replant each season.
Aren't grandparents one of Gods greatest gifts to families! Now that I am a grandparent I think I appreciate my grandparents more and more, though they are no longer with us, I realize what a positive impact they had on my life.

and of course my favorite spices, I love apple cider simmering in the crockpot, and apple butter lined on the counter top ready for the pantry.

Our apple crop is a little sparse this year, due to a late frost. We like our apple butter on the spicy side, how abut you! ~wink~

I guess that's all for today,

thank you for stopping by for a visit,

Blessings,

Sue

Hi Sue~ Well, it's so great to see a post from you! You have been busy. I agree that grocery prices just keep going up, so the more we can harvest and put up, the better. I like spicy apple butter as well ;0) Good to hear that your mom is doing better, she must be a strong woman. Your decorations are so pretty, so are your zinnias! Hugs, Barb

Your photo of all of your lovely jars of preserved fruits and veggies represent a lot of work and attention! Glad that your Mother "keeps on going!" She is a good example for all of us who are coming right along behind her.

Happy Fall, Sue! Like you, I am happy that it is nearly here because it is my favorite season too!

I love seeing a cupboard full of home canned goods. Absolutely Beautiful. A lot of hard work goes in to canning. Apple butter was one of my favorites growing up as a child. I haven't had it in Years. Now I'm hungry for it. Your Fall decor is so pretty.

How wonderful to see a post from you, Sue! I love zinnias but have never tried planting them. Fall is such a beautiful season, my very favorite. This post was a treat to the eyes and the spirit.

HI Sue, good to see you post and to know you have just been busy and not sick or anything. Your pantry is well stocked which is really neat. I love apple butter and peanut butter sandwiches,
they are really good....makes me want to get some as I have not
had one of those in a long while. We also love pumpkin butter too.....haven;t made any of that in a few years either, maybe this year will be the year. lol
Yea, I love Fall decorations which give me the promise of Fall, which hopefully by the end of October we might actually experience it weatherwise.
Well, you take care and enjoy Fall.
Love and Blessings, Nellie
