Pear tree lane Farmhouse

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

Sunday thoughts (prayer)

Written by Sue, Sunday, July 8, 2018         Absolutely beautiful, nice and warm, temps.80

Very seldom do we get days this time of year with low humidity, and  temperatures in the 80's.
Yesterday was the beginning of such blessings which will take us through Wednesday! I am so enjoying this break as we have had an extremely hot spring and now an even hotter summer. When you have to work outside in extreme conditions like we have had, it can take a toll on your body. Last week as I was walking (very early), I really began to pray in earnest about our weather and asking for some rain and relief from the heat, which brings me to my thoughts for today.

Colossians 4:2 Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving;

(My walk this morning was later, because of the cool temps., enjoyed it so much.)

(Always fun to stop and talk with the donkeys.)

I recently read in my devotional about prayer and how we should pray, the writer made the point that there was a big difference between general prayers, and specific prayers, and that most times people pray general prayers, he emphasized the importance of specific prayers. I thought long and hard about this, and asked myself, 'how many times did I pray general prayers,' such as 'God bless so and so', I decided that I would begin to pray more specific prayers when praying for family, friends, or someone, our country, our president.

(Stopped to take some photos of the flower garden.)
I also wondered as to why general prayers are prayed more often than specific prayers, the reason I believe, is, it takes more time. We live in such a hurry up world today, there just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day to complete all that needs to be done.
(Zinnias are one of my favorite flowers.)
Since this devotion, I have found that my prayer life has become more meaningful, and that I am really thinking more intently about people's need and situations, I can pray anytime and anywhere, God never sleeps and His ears are always tuned to our voices. How awesome is this!!!!

I hope you are having a great Sunday,
Blessings,
Sue

Hi! I think we tend to pray general prayers because we don’t know quite how to pray. Speaking of which, is there anything specific that I can pray for you? So glad that you have the gift of glorious summer days just as an idyllic summer should be.

So nice to see a post from you.
Our Pastor is always telling us to pray for specific things and I've been trying to do that.
I pray during my early morning walks.
Glad you have been having such nice weather. We don't get those real hot summers here in western Maryland. Summers here are like one long spring.

What a beautiful walk and it is so true. I have done a Bible Study this summer with a group of ladies and praying specifically has been what we have done. Week by week, the answers have been life changing. Praying for the weather is always good.
I am always so happy to see it when you give us a update. I hope you are not working as hard as you have is years past.
Blessings to you.

Morning Sue,
So good to see you post. This was such a good postand I think so very true. I so agree about the specific prayers, and if we think about it....
it is a great way to know if your prayers were answered as well, and when we hear someone
say such and such happened and it was exactly what we prayed for..........it just spurs
us on to pray more.........and is such an encouragement to be reminded that God is a prayer
hearing and a prayer answering God.......
Prayer is such a priviledge and a very needed asset.

Glad you got a lil respite from the heat.....it has been very hot here too, but we have
gotten so much rain this year we are wondering if we still live in Florida.....lol

Take care sweet friend,
Blessings, Nellie

Oh Sue it is no accident that I decided to pop into the blogging world today and discovered this post. I have been wondering how to pray about a problem I have been having and I sooo want to pray VERY specifically. I have been battling my ears being plugged up for over 4 weeks now. Doesn't sound like a huge problem, but do to some circumstances that happened to me as a child, plugged ears is one of my most dreaded things. I can hardly stand it and it makes me fight anxiety and even a little depression as well as it has been going on for so long. Of course I am following the docs recommendations, not that I have noticed any improvements with her suggestions, or very little anyway. She is telling me it is just allergies. I am never quite sure what to do. Do exactly as she says? Ask to see a specialist and maybe open another can of worms? Just try and move along? MEANWHILE, I am very specifically asking God to touch and heal me of this, or to give me His peace while I somehow bear it. I know it's always His will for me to trust Him and rest in His peace and promises so that's an easy prayer to pray. But maybe it isn't His will to heal me? Sometimes I feel bad to ask Him to consider my healing when soo many more deal with sooo much more than just plugged ears. And that makes me think that maybe I shouldn't be praying for that. But reading your post this morning has encouraged me to continue to ask for His specific healing and continue to put my trust in Him as to timing and details. I would appreciate a prayer or two from you too my friend as I battle this, and wonder if there is some way I can pray for you too? Glad you got a cool walk. Your always soo busy and that too is inspiring. Hope your weeks has gone well. Much love to you! Debbie

How did I miss this inspiring post? You are so right about praying specifically, and it does take more time but it is so worth the time. I do pray specifically but I also pray generally too. I guess a good mix is okay. :o)) Beautiful photos Sue!

I'm sorry I missed this post, Sue. Such wonderful words of inspiration regarding our prayer life. "God never sleeps" is so comforting to me.
Your photos are lovely of your favorite zinnias. They are so cheerful and colorful. We plant them around our mailbox every year. I hope you are well and have a lovely week. ♥

It seems that God delights in sending specific answers to our specific prayers! I think too about very hard situations like the one Debbie mentioned above. I read somewhere that God delights in working in situations that look impossible, because only He will get the glory for the outcome.

Wonderful thoughts on prayer you have shared here. Thank you!

It's been very hot in Michigan this summer as well, but we've had refreshing rain the last few days as well as well as cooler temps.
Your yard and flowers are beautiful. Zinnias are one of my favorites too.
Thanks for that reminder on prayer. I love that God is always listening!

Yes Sue, praying specifics is so important, and I do so on a daily basis. Our heavenly Father is always there for us and we only need to look deep into our own souls.
I loved seeing all your pretty photos on your walk!
Thank you for visiting me.

Hi there! First of all, thank you for visiting my blog yesterday! What a joy to read your sweet comments!

I love what you wrote about prayers and how we are so rushed that we're often not specific enough. Boy, isn't that the truth? It's almost like running into an acquaintance and asking, "How are you?" That's so generic (although it can be a good opening to further conversation). I love asking more specific questions that show that I know the person well, have listened when he/she has spoken, and care about the details of his/her life.

Thank you for the gentle reminder. :)

Hi Sue! So nice stopping by! Though it has been a while, it is still a most lovely and warm place to visit. I agree with your thoughts about praying specifically.

Your walk was sweet and the photos of the flowers are gorgeous!

Hi sue! You have such a lovely peaceful home and I can see why you are such a busy lady.

Beautiful post on prayer. I have always been a "specific" prayer warrior because I love to see God answer specifically. There are times I utter general prayers as I go through my day, it's just the way I talk to Jesus as he brings things to my mind.
He loves for us to talk with Him, either general our specific. :}

Your photos are beautiful and accompany your post very well.

God bless you ♡
