Pear tree lane Farmhouse

~Welcome home~

This blog is dedicated to my dear family who live many miles away, and to you dear ladies , who have a heart for keeping the home fires burning. You, who love and cherish your family, and have a desire to create a home that says "Welcome, you are loved and cared for."

My desire is that when you leave that you will be encouraged and know that you too are loved.

~It"s a good day to.....~

Written by Sue, Friday, January 10, 2020    Cloudy, rain on the way, temps. 60+

Light the last Christmas candle, ahh, still smells wonderful.

Drink lots of fresh ginger tea, one of my favorite teas, great for digestion and whatever ails you. I am making plans to try and grow ginger this year!

I think I need to look for a tea cozy if I am going to post my tea pots, don't you think. ~grin~

A good day for starting a new book,

Sharing a few things I purchased yesterday with my Christmas gift cards,

This is a surprise for dear daughter, Susan, she is always surprising me with gifts, a Valentine's Day apron, hand mitts to match, socks to keep her pretty tootsies warm.

Last week I called her and asked if she had some extra foundation make-up, I was waiting for Lancome' to have another promotional sale since I missed their last one. She said "yes", and then went out and bought me a new bottle, along with a makeup case filled with goodies, telling me that it was about time I did away with the old stuff! Ha!

This is to me from me, all on sale.I love baskets just couldn't resist, I am thinking maybe something for Valentine's Day in the basket, we'll see, I also like copper ware, another sale I could not resist, always be careful with copper, not to high heat. A utensil holder/drainer, I like that it has a tray for excessive water to drain.

A good day for a real life story...
Tuesday I rushed to get my household tasks completed so as to get to the hairdressers for a haircut, after being dropped off by Mr P.  while he went to the bank, I walked into the salon, "Lee" looked at me and said. "Oh, Sue your appointment is next week,  I would take you but have another appt, at three." I told the crew, that my dh would never let me live this one down, we all laughed. While waiting for his return I was contemplating how I was going to explain my absentmindedness, when I remembered, that he had walked out and forgot something that he was going to return. Ahh saved by the bell, we both had a good laugh! I bet something like this has never happened to you.~wink~
That's my story and I am sticking to it.
                                                                  Have a great day,
Love,
Sue

p.s.Thank you for all of your visits and sweet comments.💗💚💛

I have totally missed appointments! It doesn't happen often, and I bet it doesn't to you, either. Love your basket! Did you know you can buy ginger gum? Not the cheap flavored kind, but the real thing. My doctor told me to buy it, along with the tea and real ginger ale for my stomach. Keep me posted on growing ginger, that will be fun and exciting!!

Hi Sue~

Funny story! My husband knows me so well, that he always puts my appointments on his phone...I've been on the wrong day as well ;0) What beautiful gifts! Your daughter sounds like a sweetheart, she must be a lot like her mom! Your tea cozy works for you...very smart! Ginger is one of my favorite teas, so soothing. Good luck on your quest to grow it!

Hugs and Love,
Barb

Very sweet gifts to give and receive. One question: Did Mr. Pear Tree Lane notice that you hair was not done?

Oh yes, we laugh at our forgetfulness often. I actually had a real hair appointment this past Tuesday...smile. What fun gifts you purchased with your gift cards. Sweet sister to think of you with the purchase of new make-up and she must know you well to know what to buy! Happy Friday to you.

You bought some really nice gifts with your cards.
Love the red oven mitts.
I think we've all messed up appointments a time or two. :)

I love this post. Your daughter is going to adore all that Valentine stuff..right down to the socks! LOL about the wrong day for the appot. Better early than to have missed it by being a week late. lol
Have a wonderful weekend. xo Diana

Oh, Sue, you are in good company, it has definitely happened to me/us.

I love copper and just bought a beautiful copper pitcher and I saw some cute Napa copper pieces yesterday at Tuesday Morning but resisted getting them. They remind me of what you just bought.

Good to drop by, I'm just getting back to visiting around from the holidays.

Happy weekend!

What a lovely daughter you have and what a sweet treat. Well I am right there with you about the absentmindedness. I double check everything these days and I live with my notebook calendar.:) Ginger tea sounds delish.

Oh my, I am absentminded too lots of times. Even when I write myself notes. I love how your daughter brings you gifts for no reason. We do that too. We are blessed, you and I. You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.

So many good buys! Growing your own ginger sounds like a challenge. I'll be interested to hear how it works out.

My most egregious missed date was when I forgot to renew my driver's license. Thankfully, I discovered this oversight myself and it was not law enforcement that brought it to my attention! I was on my way to an appointment (someone else was driving) and I pulled out my license to use as ID. What? How could this have happened? I should have renewed it in January and it was now November!

I also forgot a hair appointment once -- just didn't show up! -- but the affair of the driver's license was by far the worst.

I enjoy ginger tea as well, Sue. It's lovely to have in the afternoon. Twinings makes a good lemon ginger if you wish to try it someday. How sweet to buy those lovely gifts for your daughter. She's going to love them I'm sure. As far as mistaking an appointment for the wrong date, we all have done things like that!

I just ordered a Valentine outfit for my Great-Granddaughter last night. Hard to believe we are already thinking about Valentine's day. A friend of mine missed our Christmas get-together last month. She had written it on the wrong day. Stuff happens, right? Enjoy your day dear friend, HUGS!

You and your Dear Daughter have a lovely relationship...

Cute story about "forgetting." Me'thinks we all have such issues, with a wee bit of age-on-us. -smile-

I have _everything_ written down on my mini kitchen calendar. And add post it notes, for special things, to get-done-today. It really helps.

Those Valentines socks are so fetching! I'm way past the days of collecting "things', but still have a passion for colorful socks … and they don't take up lots of room. LOL! Love our few pieces of copperware, but now I suspect why the frying plan has begun sticking. Thanks for the tip!

Ah, ginger tea! I start every morning with at least two cups of it. I used to be an English tea drinker until one day I tried ginger tea, and now I am hooked.

I read back through your posts, and was so glad to see you love Christmas as much as I do. Do you think it's because we're both named Sue?

When you are trying to get the best plants for your organic landscape, you should take the time to get educated. Chose plants that are suited to growing conditions you already have, rather than trying to build an environment for a plant you didn't properly plan for.

Take a time-out and have a mini massage. Try rubbing the palm of your right hand with the thumb of your left. Make slow, circular motions, or use a device. Focus on the rhythmic movement and feel of the massage. Check for tight spots in your neck, and massage out any knots.

Don't be tempted to use drugs, legal or otherwise. While it may seem the most natural thing in the world to turn to alcohol, cigarettes, or other drugs to reduce our stress levels, the truth of the matter is that these drugs only escalate our problems. They actually result in heightened stress levels, not reduced stress. We become oversensitized to the very things that are causing our stress in the first place.
